Emerald Desert RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Park was easy to get to. There is a train, but didn't bother me. We didn't swim, but the pool looked nice. We did use tennis court. There was only one, which wasn't a problem, but could have been had there been more people in the park. Also, there were leaves on the court that needed blowing off. We got one of the pull-through spots. Hookups were a bit oddly placed, kind of toward the middle of the spot on both sides, so we had to pull up all the way to the end. Our nose wasn't quite sticking out in the street, but a longer rig's might have been. Most spots seemed to have plenty of room, though. Overall very nice and clean, and front desk people were helpful. It's about 25 minutes from here to Palm Springs. We camped at Emerald Desert RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Really liked this park. Sites are very wide and easy to get into. As others have said, you can rent boats and kayaks at dock. Swimming pool was nice. Camp store well equipped. Hiking trails were easy and very nice for small children. Only one draw back is that there are no trees in amongst the actual sites (plenty surrounding). So there is no shade. This is a brand new park, and you can tell they've planted some trees, but it will be a long time before they provide any shade. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Short drive to downtown Hot Springs.

Go to McClard's for BBQ. Order the Tamales, trust me. They are delicious.

New Orleans West KOA, River Ridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, this was a decent park. I waffled back and forth between 7 and 8. Probably would have given it an 8 if the sites weren't so close together. It is a smaller park. There was a pool, looked small and I didn't use it. Sites didn't have any grills, which was disappointing. Park consists of one street, which is a loop, but it is closed on one end so you have to turn around at the end. Not sure why they don't have it opening back out to the main road, it would be much easier. It takes about 25 mins to drive into downtown NOLA from here. I think they might have a shuttle but I didn't use it. Gift shop was a little sparse. Sites are very VERY close together. I would suggest a site on the outside loop, so at least you won't have anyone behind you. We camped at New Orleans West KOA in a Motorhome.

Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Overall good. Very tight conditions. The person next to me was parked in front of his rig and I had to do some maneuvering to get out. Saturday breakfast was delicious, staff was friendly. Right next to the XXX shop, which I really didn't appreciate. This campground is on the South end of Austin right on I-35. Always, always traffic getting into and out of the park, but that's Austin. Right next to Home Depot, which ended up being convenient. Freeway noise always evident. Walmart and Walgreens close by also, but will still take you 15 minutes to get through because of traffic. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.
