Hitch-N-Post Campground, Panguitch, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The rate reflects their posted rate since the GS or other discount just about takes care of the typical Utah tax of 10.25%. Quick check-in and was assigned an easy pull through. Plenty of room to park the car in front of the RV. Good location and grouping for the sewer and electric, although the water spigot was fairly far forward in the site. Quiet despite being right on US-89 running through town. Nice central location if you are combining stops at Cedar Breaks and Red Canyon as well as Bryce Canyon. Would stay here again. We camped at Hitch-N-Post Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beware, not many of the shops are open on Sundays, including the only grocery store. Would recommend eating at the Tandoori Taqueria for something a little different. A nice fusion of Indian and Mexican flavors. Don't miss visiting Red Canyon while here. The trails get you up close to some fantastic red rock formations. Cedar Breaks is also a great little side trip. Scenic drive past Panquitch Lake and the National Monument Amphitheater is amazing.

WillowWind RV Park, Hurricane, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

An RV park with trees always scares me with my 40' motorhome. This park does a very good job of keeping the trees trimmed so as not to cause issues with a large RV maneuvering around the park. There were two branches in our site that I was concerned about, and they promptly sent a maintenance fellow out to trim all the branches that were of a concern. There was plenty of room between sites and the pads were exceptionally level. The WiFi was slow at peak times, but otherwise worked fine. The cable provided more than 70 channels, but if you would like satellite, make sure you request one of the "dish-friendly" sites in the back. The campground was quiet during the night time hours and the staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at WillowWind RV Park in a Motorhome.

About 24 miles from Zion NP, lots of places to eat in town and along the way to the park. A very busy park during the season, would recommend reservations.

Robbins Nest Mobile Village (55+ park), Overton, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned, this an older, mostly mobile home village that has around 70 RV sites. The pull through sites are down the middle of the row, gravel and level. 50 amp service, water with two spigots and sewer connection at each site. No picnic table or fire pit. There are plenty of trees, however most of the sites had branches overhanging the site making it difficult to position the rig without the limbs interfering with the slides or awnings. The office is closed on the weekends, so if you will arrive after closing on Friday, make arrangements to get a key to the bathroom building when you call for a spot. This isn't a fancy park, but it's neat, tidy, quiet and a great value with the GS rate. We camped at Robbins Nest Mobile Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Lake Mead RV Village, Boulder City, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Opted for one of the Lake View sites. The utilities are arranged so you pull straight in with a MH and back in with a 5th wheel or TT. Great views of the lake and the sites are full poured concrete with pea gravel around it. Picnic table and fire pit at each site. Significant portion of the sites are mobile homes although most were empty for our stay. Camp Host leads you to the site and will help you park. Roadways are wide enough to maneuver and the trees are kept trimmed off the road. We camped at Lake Mead RV Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location to visit Hoover Dam. The historic railroad trail has five tunnels on the route. Willow Beach is about 15 miles south of the Dam and is also part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We also took a drive west of Las Vegas and visited the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very well maintained and the staff is there to please. Site was paved, level and all the utilities worked as expected and were well positioned on the site. Staying in the RV park gets you access to the indoor hotel pool and fitness center at the nearby hotel. It is centrally located and within walking distance to the railway station and all of downtown Williams, AZ. Surprisingly little noise from the train tracks and I-40. The cable TV worked fine and the WiFi was accessible except those busiest times of the day. The PA discount made this park a tremendous value for our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Great access to the Grand Canyon Railway to the National Park. Close enough to take in the scenic trip to Sedona, Jerome and Prescott, AZ. Limited time at the South Rim when taking the train. Worth it to also set aside an other day and drive back up to the Park.

Rose Valley RV Ranch, Silver City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed at since leaving Florida. When checking-in, we were given a ton of information about not only the park, but the surrounding area attractions and available services, like the closest car wash. The sites are very spacious with three walls around the patio that really help to block the view from the next site. Our site was a little un-level, but we were able to level the rig without having to use any blocking. The roads are gravel, but well maintained and plenty wide for turns with a tow vehicle. The bathrooms and showers were updated and very clean and tidy. There is a min and max required stay with PA but they then allowed us to use GS for the third night stay. I would stay here again for sure. We camped at Rose Valley RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Edgington RV Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived on a Saturday, no answer and response to voicemails. Ended up just picking a site and filing out the registration, paying with a check and leaving it at the office. Very low water pressure (<25 psi). Long, gravel sites in the back. Appears to be a work in progress, since most of the newer sites have new plantings and only one sewer connection for two adjacent sites. Despite the new grading and gravel, the site isn't all that level. My rear was up and the stairs were almost on the ground.

The bathroom/shower and laundry are all in one small building. Allows access for only one person. If you are self contained it's no issue. We camped at Edgington RV Park in a Motorhome.

White's City RV Park, Whites City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

As other reviewers have noted, the sites are tight at best. We asked for a site on the far side with 50 amp service. When we checked in, there was a bit of a sigh when I said we had a 40' motorhome with four slides. The comment was, "The manufacturers have to stop building these huge units." To that end, he put us in site #1 so there was plenty of space and we just moved over to make sure there was plenty of space between us and the site next to us. The actual pad was way too small for a 40' motor home. Recommend disconnecting the toad before heading to the site. Lots of room just past the check-in area to park and disconnect.
The bathrooms were updated, but not super clean. no towels or blow dryers for you hands at the sink. Nothing special, but since we're self contained, it was an okay place to stay. We camped at White's City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to the caverns. We went back the second night to watch the bat departure out of the cave at sunset. Well worth the trip. The elevators are non-functional until sometime in May, so plan on hiking in through the natural entrance. Not bad going down, but a haul going back up. Lots of places to rest along the climb out and well worth the effort.

MacMillen RV Park, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Access is excellent with gravel roads and sites. The sewer connection had been sawed off with a PVC cap and there were no threads. Good grouping of utilities. There is a nice concrete patio with picnic table and lattice cover. The water valve leaked, but the water pressure was at least 50 psi. The host camper is what I'd call a "character." Friendly and helpful, but opinionated. Lots of dust and wind, but hey, this is West Texas. We camped at MacMillen RV Park in a Motorhome.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good place to stay if you are going to Big Bend NP. It's a haul up to the park, but then everything in that area is a ways away from everything else. There is both regular and diesel fuel available at the General Store, but I fueled up at Alpine before going south to the campground. There is no campground map on the website, but they are suppose to be working on it. The sites are situated with the utilities between two sites, so you alternate nose to tail. If I would have known, I would have asked for a site that pulls in so your nose is pointing North-East. Much better for the patio side to have the shade late in the day. The wind is incredible, so opening your patio awning is not an option until the winds die down. The pool isn't heated and when we were there, the water temp would turn your ankles blue after a few minutes. They cater to lots of rallies and the parking spots on the North side are used for those rigs. Limited number of sites with cable TV access. The WiFi was okay, but slow depending on the number of users. Very limited cell service in most of the area, including the NP. We often only had 1 or 2 dots on our Verizon service. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Big Bend NP is the big attraction. Took us three full days to see all the park. The Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa is very nice. We did the Starlight Evening Dinner. Expensive ($150 pp) but very nice. The drive up to Presidio was very scenic, especially the first 20 miles out of Lajitas. Had lunch at the El Patio restaurant in Presidio. Went across the border to MEX, but not much going on and never did find the "tourist area."

Fort Clark Springs, Brackettville, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in other reviews, the RV park is quite a ways back, although the roads are paved and well maintained. There are some overhanging trees that you have to cross over into the other lane to avoid. The pull-in site was level and the utilities were well grouped. An excellent place to stop, and a great value for an overnight stop. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Encore Sunshine RV Resort, Harlingen, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

After making the reservation on-line and using the PA rate, we were all set for a week at the resort. On checking-in, they said they would give us a "first time customer deal" for only $99 per week. They then took the PA 50% discount so we ended up paying only $11 per night. The campground had cleared out of their "Winter Texans" and we got a spot in the new section by the lake. The 50 amp CB was weak and kept tripping, so I plugged into the next site and left a message at the office. The next morning, a maintenance person showed up and changed the CB. The only downside to this location at the resort is it is close to the highway and there is a lot of road noise. We camped at Encore Sunshine RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lazy Longhorn RV Park, Victoria, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a park that caters to full time residents during the winter. The access roads and pads were all paved and the utilities were grouped well. The only knock on this park is the overgrown vegetation. If you are going to advertise as "big rig" then you had better be trimming the overhanging trees and shrubs so they don't impact the roadways and sites. The host actually had to get two straps to pull the shrub together so we could open our entry door. The hosts seemed afraid to trim the shrubs since they weren't the "owners." Too bad because it was a nice place for a pull-through overnight. We camped at Lazy Longhorn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Easy access from I-10. Sites are adequate in size, we were able to park our 40' coach and car. There were branches hanging over the site that would have interfered with our slide. Cain's Creekside RV Park, Hahira, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The Park doesn't take reservations, but if you call them enroute they will tell you if there are sites available. We were looking for a pull through for a short overnight and they had 4 sites open right near the office. They are located close to I75 with good on-off access. The entrance is nicely paved and wide. Sites are level with good utility location and grouping. No cable, but TV antenna reception was good. There is a large pond with ducks and geese. The rail tracks are close-by and the trains are fairly noisy. We had 6 trains go by during the 16 hours we were there, but only one late at night. The water pressure was only about 35psi and tasted like it was treated. An excellent value for a quick overnight. We camped at Cain's Creekside RV Park in a Motorhome.
