Lake Pines RV Park and Campground, Columbus, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is right off of US80 East of Columbus but convenient to Ft. Benning, downtown and the Chattahoochee River. The entrance is a little narrow with some potholes and two big rigs passing would be tight. It looks like many of the sites are seasonal, but kept up for the most part. We had a nice pull through with full hook-ups near the office. The site was level with well located utilities. Cable reception was very good and the Verizon signal was strong. We camped at Lake Pines RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The National Infantry Museum near Ft. Benning is a must see. On most Fridays there is a class of new Infantry Soldiers graduating on the parade grounds behind the Museum. That too is well worth a couple hours. The local Army band plays and there is a demonstration of a typical Infantry Squad showing the personnel, equipment and how they deploy. Ask at the museum if there will be a graduation when you are there.

Pine Mountain RV Resort, Pine Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

When making my reservation, I requested a site in the Day Lilly area since it was shaded and cheaper than the other areas. I was told my 40" motor home would have to go the the Azalea area. The Azalea sites have concrete pads and two available sewer connections, one near the other utilities and one further back in the site. The interior roads are gravel and paved providing easy access to all the sites. We were escorted to our site. There were only a dozen or so rigs in the Azalea area and yet they put another rig right next to us. There is only one shower area for the Azalea area, so it could be pretty busy when the resort is more full. We had several inches of rain on our first night with no flooding or drainage issues. The Azalea sites are in the open with no shade at all. We camped at Pine Mountain RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Georgia Mountain Fair Campground, Hiawassee, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was on the Fairgrounds side and had full hook-ups with cable TV. When stopping to register, turn left into the lower level next to the office. The upper road is passable with a covered entry that has a 14' clearance. The sites are fairly narrow, but mostly level with pavement. Many of the sites have broken pavement, especially on the edges. The bathrooms are dated, but clean and serviceable. Nice view of the lake from our site. Lots of trees with plenty of shade. We camped at Georgia Mountain Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

Great scenic drives around the lake and nearby mountains. Take a trip over to the dam area. You can walk the entire top of the dam from one side to the other. The North Georgia Wine trail is a great way to spend an afternoon with three or four vineyards close by.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in other reviews, the Premium sites near the office (F, C and E Trails) are in good shape with mostly level sites of packed gravel with curbs. The other loops are indeed in need of some repair. The roads are broken-up and many of the sites have broken pavement, narrow and not very level. The website recommends you use the on-line system for reservations (with a $5 service charge). When I made my reservation the site only showed three sites available, however when I arrived the park was not close to full and many of the sites in the Red area were open. The office staff said that it is better to call for reservations because the on-line site doesn't "update" so it won't show all the open sites. The campground is convenient for trips to Stone Mountain Park and you can get a two day pass for the same price as a one day. Lots of roads in the campground to walk on. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The Great Outdoors RV Resort, Franklin, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park, with terraced sites on the side of the hill. The views of the Smokey Mountains are spectacular. Our site was quite level with hard packed gravel, however, some of the sites needed a fair amount of leveling blocks. The office staff was very helpful and eager to please. After registering, they have you pull around the office to a flat area to disconnect the tow vehilce. They then led us to our site and helped us park. Garbage pickup is every morning in front of your site. Cable came in very good and WiFi coverage was fine. There was an FMCA rally group there and they spoke highly of the Park staff and facilities. Although the terrain is steep, the access roads were very maneuverable with our 40' coach. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Several scenic drives in the area with waterfalls and this time of year the fall colors were just spectacular. The Hwy 23/441 road north to Silva has several steep grades of 7% and 8%. Breathtaking scenery all around the area.

Heritage RV Park, Augusta, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Quick overnight and the campground is close to both I20 and I520. The park has some long term rentals and several daily/weekly rentals sites near the office. They are upgrading these sites and ours was gravel with timber curbs and a concrete patio. The back of the sites along this row had a tall privacy fence. The grass is watered with a sprinkler system at night so it did get some water on parts of the coach. Coming in from the east, follow the signs for registration, since there are several entrances you will pass before getting to the one that leads to the office. The owner guided us to the lot and helped us park. No real amenities, but a clean well kept park. Would stay here again. We camped at Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Nice family owned campground with easy access on/off I95. Sites were a little uneven with a concrete "U" shaped drainage channel on both the entrance and exit of the site. Need to go very slowly going over the channel. The site was hard packed sand and gravel with grass around it. Most of the sites have some shade. The park entrance is the furthest one when coming in from I95 and you will need to make a sharp right turn after passing the office, then stop at the stop sign. Just enough room with our 40' coach to straighten the tow vehicle for the disconnect. Would stay here again although the price is a little steep considering the amenities. We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient for downtown historic St. Augustine area. Would recommend using the Red Train sightseeing tour. You can park at their Main Office or Sugar Mill stop and ride the tour cars all over town with unlimited on/off access. If you have a National Park Senior Pass, you can use it at Castillo de San Marcos for free entry. Lots to do and see downtown and well worth just strolling around the area.

Seasons in the Sun RV Resort, Mims, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Great access off I95, but the road noise was almost non-existent. The PA rate is available for an unlimited number of nights and puts you in the Classic Sites. These are hard packed gravel and have varing amounts of shade. The Premium Sites are paved but out in the open with no shade. There is a gated entry and exit and it's best to disconnect your tow vehicle at the office. WiFi reception was good at our site 204. Pool area is very nice with lounge chairs and a nice deck. The classic sites are only accessed by a one way road, so from our site it was a bit of a drive just to get out of the park. Would stay here again. We camped at Seasons in the Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Peach Queen Campground, Jemison, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay at this park. It is certainly conveniently located right off I65, but it does have some warts. Many of the sites have long term renters with overflowing stuff crammed into the site. The sewer connection is 12 to 15 feet from the water and electrical connection, at the very rear of the site. Makes for either a long sewer hose or long electrical and water connections. Plenty of room on the pull through site for the car, but since it was a quick overnight we opted not to hook up the sewer. There was no hot water in the bathrooms in the morning and the manager wasn't aware that the hot water heater had gone off. Both bathrooms had been recently painted and with the closed windows and locked door, the fumes were pretty bad. The showers are plenty big, but there are no chairs or benches and a limited number of hooks. Like I said, it's a real convenient location for a quick overnight, but at $30, not a great value. We camped at Peach Queen Campground in a Motorhome.

Graceland RV Park & Campground, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Ample room on the sites although with our 37 foot rig, it was tight parking the car to stay on the gravel. Bathrooms and showers conveniently located. Nice pavilion for rallies or gatherings. Camp store for some necessities and Elvis souvenirs. Very conveniently located for seeing all the Elvis attractions. Didn't notice excessive noise from the FedEx arrivals and departures during the night. Has security at the entrance to the campground. We camped at Graceland RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Okatoma Resort & RV Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

It is a little bit of a drive off the highway and the entrance road is gravel and narrow, but we had no trouble in our 40' MH. There is a separate exit road back to the paved area, so you don't have to worry about someone going the opposite direction. The owner greeted us and after check-in led us to our site. Very nice, large pull through; grassy, but solid surface; utilities were well grouped and in serviceable condition. The park is laid out around a lake, with cabins interspersed around the RV sites. It is quite a walk to the bathrooms and shower from the sites on the opposite side of the lake. Nice meeting room with a campstore selling basic necessity items as well as fresh eggs. Would stay here again. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay at this RV Park. It is in a great location to see the local area. Only a short walk or ride to the trolley service for both North Little Rock and the Riverside Market area of Little Rock. The sites are fairly large with alternate spaces on the river you can pull straight into with a motorhome for a great view of the river activity. Hookups are conveniently located and grouped on the site. The only sites with some shade are numbers 1, 2, 3 and some partial shade on sites 8 & 9. The Passport America sites are limited and along the rear sea wall as back-ins. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cullman Campground, Cullman, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A "rustic" campground with many "permanent or annual" residents. The interior roads are paved, but rough and narrow. Sites are gravel and terraced, but fairly level. Restrooms and showers are dated, but clean and serviceable. The office staff was friendly, helpful, escorted us to our site and assisted in parking. We used a pull-through so we didn't have to unhitch the toad for our one-night stay. They put us on a site that allowed for a straight-ahead departure the next morning. Good value and would stay here again. We camped at Cullman Campground in a Motorhome.
