About Good Vibes

We're retired and spend about half the year on the road. We are Habitat Care-A-Vanners so we combine some communal building with our travels.

Elliott Branch Campground, Bear Creek Lakes, Hodges, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

One of five RV campgrounds owned by the Bear Creek Development Association in the area between Red Bay, AL and Russellville, AL. Good, paved access roads with reasonable clearance. Some of the sites are not level or paved. Nice views looking out over the lake. Has camp store and a camp manager on-site. Friendly and helpful, but I had a problem with the electric supply going over-voltage, sometimes as high as 135 VAC and tripping my EMS off-line. The camp manager passed the concern on to the main staff, but nothing was done and the problem persisted the entire stay. I eventually had to use my generator to protect from the voltage spikes. 22 of the sites are for seasonal campers, and the rest are on a first-come, first-served basis. You need to call the camp manager the day before and see if there are any spots available. They will know if there are any accommodating sites at the other campgrounds as well. Looks like it is a well kept secret for the local population. We camped at Elliott Branch Campground, Bear Creek Lakes in a Motorhome.

Deer Run RV Park, Troy, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Just an overnight stop. Very convenient, right off US231, but not too noisy. Check-in person was very friendly and escorted us to our site and parked us. The weather was rainy so asked for a convenient , pull through for easy exit the next day. Very accommodating and had nice concrete parking pads. Sewer connection was not threaded so needed rubber "donut". We camped at Deer Run RV Park in a Motorhome.
