Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp), Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are level and it is convenient to stay on base. Making a reservation can be a pain as there are several numbers listed online to call. Signs leading in provide conflicting guidance, one sent us to Outdoor Rec to sign in, who in turn told us that was unnecessary and sent us back to the campground. There are a lot of folks here on what appears to be a more permanent basis, which occupies many of the full hookup sites, frustrating for those of us trying to use the facilities in conjunction with a PCS, but c'est la vie. Facilities are adequate, showers and restrooms are average and fairly clean. No open fires are allowed in RV sites, so be prepared for that if your family is expecting s'mores and a campfire. You can probably rent one of the tent sites for a few bucks, a few have stone firepits. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Dayton KOA, Brookville, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice koa. The ground were well kept and facilities were very clean, though the restrooms by the office are a bit dated. There was access to a large field, where my two kids could throw the baseball/football and play soccer, this was very nice. Nice pretty lake with fishing, no license required.

Only downsides are typical KOA drawbacks. Sites are very close together, if you want more seclusion, select a site in the back (site 100 is right by the fields and a bit larger, we'll stay there next time if it's available). Turns are a little tight, if the park was crowded I could see larger rigs having some trouble on the turns. Of course, they have activities, but everything costs money, so bring your own entertainment. The playground is really for younger kids (maybe 3-6 years old). There is near constant noise from the interstate, not super loud, but definitely there.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would stay here again. We camped at Dayton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Levi Jackson State Park, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Absolutely gorgeous state park we hit for a one night stay while traveling from Florida to Ohio. Sites were reasonably spaced and hook-ups were perfect. Our site was pretty level, and took only minor adjustments. I wish he had time to explore, but we couldn't this time. We are already making plans to drive back down and experience all this park has to offer. The gate staff were truly happy people, and made us feel welcome. We camped at Levi Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Forsyth KOA, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, our stay here was good. We received guidance to our mostly level site, and hookups were as described and in good repair. Staff was friendly enough; I've had friendlier and some not so friendly. Four cookies were a pleasant surprise, and we ordered their pizza and hot-wings, which were surprisingly tasty. Made dinner with the wife and kids (7 and 9) very easy after a long day on the road. It's right off the interstate, so perfect for a quick rest and go. It would be distracting if we had been staying longer. Overall though, if you're looking for a place to plug-in for a night and easily move on the next day, this KOA served perfectly. We camped at Forsyth KOA in a Travel Trailer.
