Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night 9/7 on our way from KC to Grand Lake CO. This place is fantastic. If we were full timers & had time on our side we would have stayed longer. Thank goodness my wife decided to pull up directions on google while I was following my dated GPS in the coach once we left I70. Not hard to find but it was rush hour, my GPS lacked detail, and there were a few "turns" I wouldn't have caught. Anyway, GC is awesome, sites are huge and spaced out. all utilities worked as expected. We were lucky (made reservation weeks ahead) and landed in the FHU Buffalo loop. We had deer, many deer, walking right through our site. This is an excellent place to stay and only maybe 10 minutes off of I70. We will likely stay here again in the future. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Hillsdale State Park, Paola, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We used to camp at Hillsdale State Park in the 90's quite frequently. We evolved into FHU campers with a fairly large motorhome so we sort of stopped coming. I recently found out about the Sunflower loop so we gave it a whirl for three nights in late July on the 27th,28th, & 29th. The gigantic paved sites will make many RV Resorts look chintzy. All utilities worked as they should with the exception of a bad breaker on the 50 amp side. I reached out to our wonderful camp host & he had a tech on it right away so it was a non issue. The CG is excellent and the spacing between sites is very generous. I really liked the atmosphere at Sunflower. It was pretty crowded maybe even sold out yet it remains very quiet & tranquil. Only advice would be to get some trees in the ground- like yesterday or when it was built. We were blessed with a unseasonably cool July weekend but the AC's still ran plenty. I would think on a typical Kansas July/August hot day this CG would be like Death Valley. We were in site 116 with a 44' motorhome & we had an amazing amount of concrete patio & driveway. Overall we loved the place & will definitely return. We camped at Hillsdale State Park in a Motorhome.

We are cyclists so we packed up bikes & found great riding within 20 minutes or so. Both the Prairie Spirit trail & the Flint Hills trails are awesome & very close to Hillsdale.

Wellington KOA, Wellington, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We actually just discovered this KOA last year and we have stayed three times now. Wichita was always our jumping off location from Kansas City but we are so glad to have found Wellington. This is a great KOA and a great little town. Campground is a nice distance from the highway so it is very peaceful and quiet. We have nothing but good things to say about all of our stays here. I'm sure we will be back! We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Greenlake RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed three nights at Greenlake RV Resort to attend the final four. Location to down town is pretty good. We really enjoyed our stay here and would return again if in this area. We had a generous 47' x 24' back in so we had tons of patio room. We also used the pool while we were here and met many nice people. All utilities worked as expected. I really appreciated all of the concrete as Texas has been getting tons of rain. We camped in a 44' motorhome. We camped at Greenlake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

North Crest RV Park, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This was just a one night stay for us on 3/24. Park was fine, location is fine, utilities worked fine. Owner is hard working and hands on but runs the park rather loose for me. I called him several days prior & made a reservation for a pull thru. When we arrived he led me to my back in?? I said but I had reserved a pull thru & he replied "yeh everyone wants a pull thru". He gave me a choice between the only two open sites and both were back in. I unhooked & we had a nice evening & hooked up again the next morning and left. I can only assume owner takes reservations but doesn't truly keep any records. I should feel fortunate I suppose the park could have been completely full. If I come through here again I'll likely choose another park. We camped in a 44' motorhome. We camped at North Crest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Limon KOA, Limon, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before and always had a pleasant experience. This last trip we stayed one night 9/23 on the way out west and again for one night 9/30 coming home. Both times we were in site #3 which is very long and wide. We are in a 44' motorhome and left car hooked up both times so this park is definitely big rig friendly. Only little knock is this park is gravel/dirt like most KOA's. They had received quite a bit of rain before our 9/30 visit and our site did not drain well. Had I remembered all the rain I would have just gone a little farther east to the KOA in Goodland or Wakeeney KS. Over all good stay and good job Limon KOA! We camped at Limon KOA in a Motorhome.

Alamosa KOA, Alamosa, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed one night on our way west to Pagosa Springs. This KOA is like most KOA's and I mean that in a very positive way. Easy to find, easy to navigate, thoughtfully laid out, rooms sites, reliable utilities, and always charming staff. We landed fairly early that afternoon so we went on to explore Alamosa. Had dinner @ Calvillo's and oh my was that fantastic. I give Alamosa as well as this KOA high marks as we sure enjoyed our stay. We camped in a 44' motorhome. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Wolf Creek Run Class A Motorcoach Resort, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Well I don't know where to start. In 20 years of RVing I believe this might be the first "10" we have come across. This was our first time in Pagosa as well as Wolf Creek Run. We will return to Pagosa as well as this RV resort. We stayed a week and wished for longer but we are not full timers. The resort is manicured to a tee, sites are unreal, landscaping is incredible, and the owners are wonderful. Sites are level, concrete, all utilities work as they should, and each has a very cool little outdoor cabana with great lawn furniture. This place took me to relaxation mode quicker than any RV resort we have been to. Clubhouse is something to behold and a great home made continental breakfast is available Mon-Thurs. Owners do a great job getting everyone together for happy hours, breakfasts, etc. We camped with two senior dogs and booked a full day of ATVing. No worries as owner came to our coach and let our dogs out while we played. Who does that? Anyway we were quite taken by this RV resort and will certainly return. Lastly, Wolf Creek Run is not exactly a well kept secret. I believe this resort was booked solid every day we were here so better book early. Great job Wolf Creek Run! We camped at Wolf Creek Run Class A Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Mark Twain Cave Campground, Hannibal, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We came from KC area for three nights over the Labor Day weekend. I'm sorry to say we took so long to check out this CG as well as Hannibal. We really enjoyed our stay. The town couldn't be any cuter and the CG was everything we were hoping for. It truly is nestled in a hollow and parts are very shaded with mature trees. It was a sell out crowd and everyone was having a great time. Lots of large groups as well as many people visiting campers. Staff could do a better job enforcing some parking guidelines. We did struggle when we arrived as well as departed because of inconsiderate vehicle owners making narrow roads even more difficult. We are in a 45' motorhome and tow car. Our back in site C13 was plenty long for coach, car, and then some. We actually had no patio to speak of and had to move picnic table just to back in. We had room in front of the coach so that became the patio. No problem. Will come again but will try for F1-F13 as they appeared to have much more spacing. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

Outlet (Melvern) COE, Melvern, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyed our stay as always at this beautiful park. We have camped in B loop several times and still haven't found a spot we can level our 45' motorhome. I suspect most with smaller rigs have less of an issue. Other than living with a off level coach I have nothing but praise for this park. We camped at Outlet (Melvern) COE in a Motorhome.

St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, Saint Peters, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first time here at 370 Lakeside Park and boy did we love the place. We stayed three nights for the Memorial day weekend. I anticipated long check in lines and was surprised how efficient they did check in. Park is large, spacious, and well laid out. Pretty decent spacing to neighbors. We made this reservation back in December of 2016 and we chose what seemed like the most enviable spot in the whole CG. We were in 101 with the whole lake as our patio view. We spent more time at the park than we typically do as it was so beautiful. We brought our bicycles as well as a two person kayak so we had plenty to do. We have been coming to this area for many years but always stayed @ Sundermeier. We both decided 370 will be our new home when visiting St. Louis. We camped in a 44' motorhome and our FHU back in site was plenty large for coach & car. All utilities worked as they should. We camped at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park in a Motorhome.

Outlet (Melvern) COE, Melvern, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stay in B loop as we typically try for C loop. I give very high marks for this camp ground. Great online reservation system, great online check in system, reasonable price, and absolutely beautiful! Also feels very secure with regular sightings of park police cruising the camp grounds. This particular stay we were in B 107 and it was large enough for a 44' motorhome and car. Pretty nice for FHU and about $20 a night! I have noticed some of the sites are more level than others. Ours seem to pitch to the front so level would have left one of the steer wheels off the ground. I settled for slightly less than level. We camped at Outlet (Melvern) COE in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here maybe 9 years ago and loved it. Our travels took us through Amarillo twice this month so we stayed here both times. I'm happy to report this place is just as excellent as we remembered. Easy & quick check in. Park is designed perfect for finding your spot. Interior roads are smooth and generous. We were in a pull thru that was concrete, level, and long enough for a 44' coach with connected car. All utilities worked as expected and cable was great. Great stay at a great park! Thanks Oasis. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.
