Fernbrook RV Park, Longview, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite RV Parks. We have stayed here several times before and it's always a pleasure when we arrive. Restrooms, Showers & Laundry room are spotless. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We loaded up with Propane here and they picked up the bottles from our site and returned them full. Concrete sites with grass all around. Good WiFi & cable. We camped at Fernbrook RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Abilene KOA, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is heavily wooded with large trees. Sites are gravel. WiFi is kind of slow, Cable is good. There are a lot of full timers here but the pull-thrus are mostly available for overnighters. It's a pretty average RV park but good for an overnight. Easy access from I-20. Site 44 was long enough that we didn't have to unhook. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent overnight stay. Very long sites so we didn't have to unhook. Dirt sites and throughout park. Good WiFi and excellent cable. They have a new cable system with over 50 digital and 20 analog channels. The staff is quite friendly and helpful. The park is clean and well maintained. There isn't much here in Van Horn but due to the extensive Oil work in West Texas, it is the only place to stay between Van Horn and Abilene. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory, Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest parks we have ever stayed in. I would give it a 10 but there is a problem with trains. The tracks are only a block away and there are 20 or 30 trains a day (and night) going by, blowing their horns through town. It did wake us up at night several times. Other than that, this is a lovely park, well cared for and run by people who really have a commitment to their guests. There is something going on every night from pot luck dinners to quilting affairs. The park is immaculately clean. Restrooms, Showers & Laundry are spotless. Pads are level concrete with the general area being gravel. WiFi & Cable were very good. Site are long, wide and well spaced. There is an observatory on site with nightly viewings available. This park is located right behind a Safeway and you can easily walk to do shopping. We will always stay here when traveling on I-10. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West, Goodyear, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before about 2 years ago and thought it was a very nice park. Not true this time. Each site has olive and citrus trees which in some cases, ours in particular, hang well into the space and limit slide-outs. It is best to check the site they assign you before moving in. Though the park advertises cable, the connector on my site's cable had been cut off. I was told by neighbors that many are cut off. However, over-the-air reception is good and there are many channels in the Phoenix area. The asphalt roads through the park are in poor repair and the sites are fairly short and difficult to park in. I don't think we will be stopping here again. We camped at Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West in a Fifth Wheel.

The best overnight place to stay in Beatty. Wide, long dirt sites. Good WiFi & Cable. Mostly overnighters here. We stay here every time we come down 95 to Las Vegas. We camped at Death Valley Inn and RV Park (formerly Burro Inn Casino & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Barstow / Calico KOA, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before. We would give this KOA a 10 but it is in the Mojave desert and the scenery isn't top notch. Despite that, they have done a great job with what they have to work with. A bit windy but long, wide sites with Oleanders between providing privacy. Sold WiFi (a bit slow in the evenings) and cable (all analog). Dog run is really large and all new. A great place to overnight as it is conveniently located just off I-15. Try the strawberry ice cream. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We'd give this park a higher rating except that there was no cable TV. We were able to get over-the-air TV with a solid PBS (4 channels) and FOX. The was also a few analog but not very good. Sites are very wide and long. No need to un-hook with a 37' RV. Gateway to Grand Canyon South Rim about 55 miles away. Williams is a great little town with a very nice Safeway and a Route 66 motif. This KOA has miniature Golf and a small go-cart track. All Gravel but very clean and very well maintained. We camped at Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Flag City RV Resort, Lodi, California

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a 5 star RV Park for overnight stops. The sites have long pull-thrus (didn't have to unhook with a 37' 5th wheeler) and wide enough for all slide-outs. Excellent cable and pretty good WiFi (however it can get a bit slow in the evening). Staff is friendly and helpful. Propane on site. Access is just off I-5, north of Stockton, at Hwy-12. Full service travel stops all around and any kind of shopping you need in Lodi about 5 miles way. We stay here frequently as it is is close to where we store our trailer, easy in and out and always plenty of room. We think it is the perfect over-nighter. We camped at Flag City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Maple Leaf RV Park, Morgan Hill, California

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

About 70% of this park are permanent residents, however, the sites for short term stays are up near the front of the park and almost all long pull-thrus. There are no shade trees and the spaces are about 10 ft. apart but plenty of room for slide-outs. The cable is poor, about 18 channels and all analog. The WIFI is pretty slow most of the time (too many users) but adequate for e-mail. Restrooms are older but quite clean and well maintained. The restrooms/laundry in the site area is accessible by key for a $10 deposit. There are also showers and restrooms behind the office and in the area of the pool which have code locks. They are a good long hike form the RV site area. Morgan Hill is a very nice up-scale community with good restaurants and plenty of shopping as well. This RV Park is located about 12 miles south of San Jose and a good 15 to 18 miles from downtown. Unfortunately there are very few RV Parks in the San Francisco Bay area. We would rate this one three stars out of five as a good place to stay for a few days. The price is particularly attractive given the area. We camped at Maple Leaf RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

High Desert RV Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

There were several previous reviews that rated this RV Park quite highly. We don't believe that it is more that 3 stars. The sites are very wide and very long (66'); however, they are gravel and uneven. Our cable connection did not work; however, we got 23 Digital channels over-the-air. You have to pay for Tengo WiFi and it is pretty slow. Our Verizon LTE was much faster. It's dusty and not very attractive. So for easy in/easy out with long wide pull-thrus on an overnight it's just adequate. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
