Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp), Buckley AFB, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay at this campground very much. There are nice concrete pads with full hookups. Shade is pretty much non existent so getting your satellite to connect is easy. What we really appreciated was the WYFI service. With a $50 refundable deposit you received your own MYFI unit with unlimited data. We have never encountered this before and were very pleased with this great service.

Camphost was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival. Reservations in the summer are a good idea. The campground was very busy throughout our stay with little availability.

Grass is very shaggy around your sites but remember this is a high desert area.

We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Hunter Cove COE, Republican City, Nebraska

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflect Access Pass discount. We found this COE campground to not be as well maintained as others we have stayed in the past. We stayed in the 50 amp area near the entrance. It was difficult to level our site and there were tall thistles in the grass. Our fire pit was full of trash as were others nearby us. Due to the uneveness of the campsite it was very difficult to enter and exit our motorhome. During our four night stay the fire pits were never cleaned around us.

There are some sites near the water but appeared very worn and run down. There were some very nice sites without electric which are very nice if you can boondock. New sites have recently been added, however, there are not any trees and very little grass.

Camp host was very helpful.

We would not stay here again. We camped at Hunter Cove COE in a Motorhome.

Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE, Centerville, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Access Pass Discount. This COE campground is pristine. Grounds and restrooms are very, very well maintained. Camp host was extremely helpful even when we arrived on his day off. There are many sites with water views. Reservations can be difficult to obtain for weekends, however, during the week it is very peaceful and quiet. Our only complaint is for a large rig it is difficult to find level sites. We would not reserve site unseen on line due to this fact.

There are other COE campgrounds (Island and Bridge View) in the area which have more level sites for big rigs.

Verizon Cell phone signal was good. We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Motorhome.

Tom Johnson Campground, Marion, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground with flat concrete pad 30/50 amp full hook up sites. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about area. Campground is near Camping World and a rally site. Breakfast and lunch served at center.

Sites 1-10 would not be good for satellite otherwise the rest of the campground is good.

Our only complaint is the entrance to the campground is not marked. We had to turn around at Camping World. There are also no picnic tables or fire rings. We camped at Tom Johnson Campground in a Motorhome.

Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park), Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful Florida State Park campgound with large sites with 30 amp and water service (there are a few 50 amp sites). Currently undergoing a big renovation with lots of dust and construction equipment nearby.

Sites are private and heavily wooded. Satellite service would be impossible.

New kayak launch with easy access to the Silver Spring River. It's a spectacular river with lots of wildlife including monkeys. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park, Macon, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Gem of a campgroud with easy access to interstate. Flat concrete sites with nice picnic table and fire ring. There are five sites which are big rig friendly with lovely views of the lake. It's a very peaceful and scenic campground.

Our only complaint is the indifferent reservation staff member was not aware if sites where satellite friendly (they are) or seem to care. There is also a $4 fee per kayak irregardless if you are going to launch them. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Camping Au Bord De La Mer, Cap-Chat, Quebec

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located on the St. Lawrence River in a small town. It's a convenient stop on the way to Gaspe. Although the owner was friendly and spoke some English we found his campground to have very poor power for a motorhome or large rig. All four of the rigs traveling with us experienced blown fuses and we were unable to run our heat pump. We had to run our generator to use our coffee maker and toaster. Sites were maintained, however, they were not level. We also had to unhitch our car after using the dump due to its poor design and a dumpster being in the way to make an adequate turn. WIFI was unusable unless your site was very close to the office. It was a very frustrating stay and we would not stop here again. We camped at Camping Au Bord De La Mer in a Motorhome.

Camping Transit, Levis, Quebec

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We had a most enjoyable stay in the campground conveniently located near Quebec City. This is a well kept average campground with generously spaced gravel and grass sites. WYFI is $1.50/day and works well.

What made this campground outstanding for us was the owner. He helped us plan and confirm many of our excursions, went out of his way to make phone calls to check if we could take our dog to a park, drove us to the the ferry and so much more. And he did all of this with the biggest smile.

One of the friends had an emergency and needed to return home quickly. The owner helped our friends store their rig until their return. We are so grateful for all his assistance. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Camping Transit in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the red line double decker bus tour in Quebec City. It is a hop on and off bus which stops at most attractions. Sit on the top deck for the best views.

We also really enjoyed the tour of the Citadelle.

Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina, Makanda, Illinois

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects a Passport America rate. We enjoyed our stay here very much and greatly appreciated the warm welcome by the staff. They gave us good directions and helped us find a site which worked well for our rig. GPS is not accurate so be sure to call for directions. Most sites have nice views of the lake. Rental kayaks, bikes, and boats are available. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Lake Paradise Resort, Lone Jack, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate reflects a Passport America discount. We had a very pleasant stay at this campground. We were here in early spring and the pool had not opened yet but it looks really nice. There are several lakes and our pull thru site had a nice view. Staff were friendly. Our only complaint is the long road leading up and through the campground to your site is very dusty. We camped at Lake Paradise Resort in a Motorhome.

Navy Lake Site at Allatoona (Military FamCamp), Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful Military campground. However, it is Not big rig friendly. The railroad track you have to cross once leaving the interstate scrapped the bottom of our motor home even while crossing it very slowly. The road in the campground is steep and windy with over hanging tree limbs. We could not get level on our site and did not put out the slides. It was a very uncomfortable night. We saw only two sites which might work for a big rig but driving through the campground is very difficult. The staff were very friendly on the phone; however, we received no warning as to the challenges of staying there in a big rig. The lake is very pretty and the campground appeared to be very well maintained. In a smaller rig this place would be ideal. Be aware, however, there is a lot of road noise from the interstate. We camped at Navy Lake Site at Allatoona (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Fossil Creek RV Park, Russell, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very run down and in sad shape. There are a variety of rigs, permanent trailers, and odd storage buildings. The sites were weedy and poorly maintained. After checking in we unhooked our jeep and drove over to our site. There was someone in it. We could not see a suitable site that would accommodate our 40' rig. We decided not to stay and received our money back. We would not recommend this campground. We camped at Fossil Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.
