Lottis Creek Campground, Gunnison National Forest, Almont, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this campground a number of times over the years. It had been 2 years since our last stay and it was a great as we remembered. Total peace and quiet in the mountains of Colo. Heavily treed. Spaces in the Baldy loop are quite spacious. The camp hosts are very attentive. Spots are clean and gravel is raked out after each guest. Spots take minimal leveling. Close drive to Taylor reservoir. Only electric available. Nearest dump station is 10 miles away. No cell service (perfect) We camped at Lottis Creek Campground, Gunnison National Forest in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a good restaurant and small store in Taylor Park a few miles up the road. This is also the closest spot to get cell reception. Taylor reservoir is a beautiful Colorado mountain lake and well worth the short drive to visit. Fuel is available at the Taylor Park store.

Vega State Park, Collbran, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We camped at Vega State Park in the Early Settlers CG in August and again in October 2015. This is the only campground in the park with electric and water. It has beautiful views. No trees but the views make up for it. Spaces are nicely laid out. You can ride your ATV right from the campground to some nice public land trails. Bath house is clean and everything worked well. Our friends camped at the primitive CG about 1/2 mile away. They also enjoyed their experience. The primitive CG had trees and very private spots. We will continue to stay at Vega State Park. One note: there is no cell service around the area at all. The nearest place we could get service was about 7 miles West toward the small town of Collbran. We camped at Vega State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lottis Creek Campground, Gunnison National Forest, Almont, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights in space 12 of Baldy loop. We had stayed previously when there was no electric. In 2012 the Forest Service totally re-did the campground and added electric to all of the sites. The place is beautiful. All the sites in Baldy loop are treed. Bathrooms are very clean and the camp hosts did a great job of keeping all the sites clean. Our site was very level only requiring less than an inch on one side. Nice fire pits and picnic tables. Other than the nice bathrooms there are no amenities but, hey, this is a forest campground. We didn't come for cable or Wi-Fi. Quite peaceful. Taylor Reservoir is about 7 miles up the road. There is an extensive hiking trail system that starts just south of the campground. We will be back in fact have reservations again in a couple weeks. We camped at Lottis Creek Campground, Gunnison National Forest in a Travel Trailer.

Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This was a great park to stay in. Despite our late arrival one of the representatives escorted us to our site. He then assisted me with parking and made sure that I situated my camper for the best view from the site. He then pointed out several different points of interest visible in the distance. The site and roads were in good repair and level. Bathrooms were clean and showers were good. The store had everything we could need. They don't sell propane on site but directed me just down the road to a gas station that did. A great stay in Mesa Verde country. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Ridgway State Park, Ridgway, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed in Ridgway State Park on numerous occasions over the years. We even had our wedding ceremony on an overlook that you can reserve for that purpose behind the visitors center. We have camped on all of their different loops and stayed in the Yurts that are available. The camper services buildings are always clean. Most sites are level or require moderate leveling. We enjoy this park and will continue to use it every summer. The camp hosts are always great people. We camped at Ridgway State Park in a Travel Trailer.
