Hinton RV Park, Sikeston, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week while doing some genealogical research. Park is actually in the city of Miner, just off I-55. Our site, 43, was very level and all provided services worked as advertised (W, S, E, CTv). Some road noise during the day, but no a problem at night. Verizon voice and data strength was excellent. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are staying in the area or just passing through, include a meal at Lambert's Restaurant. We also enjoyed the Cheers Bar and Grill. Head south on I-55 and then west on US 60 to US 62 north, to access all the box stores in the Sikeston area.

Green Acres RV Park, Savannah, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

New owners are doing a lot to update and upgrade the park. Our site, 43, was extremely level with, what appeared to be, new gravel. All hooks up worked as advertised (E, W, S, CTv). Provided WiFi sometimes would come to a halt, but otherwise, worked fine. The restrooms at the back of the office building were very clean. Shower stalls are in the laundry room. Washer's $1.50, Dryer's $1.50 for about 45 minutes drying time. Limited RV supplies in the office. Verizon voice and data extremely strong. We camped at Green Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

The city of Savannah has several moderately priced restaurants along the main drag that are acceptable. Very nice Tennessee River Museum in the old downtown area. Shiloh National Cemetery and Park very close. Be sure to visit The Outpost south on SR 128.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center RV Park, Huntsville, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here this visit because Verizon cell phone and data is so bad up at Monte Sano SP. Our site was level and woodsy. All utilities (water, electric, sewer) worked as advertised. I had to treat around the utility service area for ants. There was an active mound next to pad which I also treated. Bring army ant bait and red ant killer with you and treat your pad when you arrive. We camped at U.S. Space & Rocket Center RV Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground, Elko, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stay heading to Alabama, as we usually do. Site is level and all utilities worked as advertised. Verizon phone and data service is excellent. Really enjoy all of the nick knacks around the part. Although near I-75, interstate vehicle noise is minimal. We camped at Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 5 nights through the 4th of July week to do some genealogical studies. Other than the speed bumps, the campground is nice. Site was gravel and level and in the open. No relief from the sun and heat of the season. The provided WiFi worked in fits and starts. Verizon voice and data excellent. All utilities worked as they should (water, sewer, electric). Plenty of over the air TV stations to supplement the provided cable. Trying to turn left out of the park onto US 17 (Savannah Hwy) is treacherous. The local people use this work around: Exit park to the right to the traffic light. Right onto Main Road. Follow to the next traffic light and turn right again. This is Bees Ferry Road. You can continue straight to Ashley Ferry Road or turn right onto Glenn McConnell Parkway to access West Ashley. I-26 and the campground are separated by the Ashley River. There are only two crossings available: I-526 and Bacons Bridge Road (SR 165) We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Traffic on I-26 approaching the I-526 merge can get backed up for miles. The day we were approaching Charleston, the road was closed due to a tragic car accident/fire. May I suggest that you exit to the right at SC Exit 199 (Pilot and Cracker Barrel at this exit). Follow Alt 17 to SR 165. Turn left onto SR 165 and follow this road to SR 61, Ashley River Road. Then follow Ashley River to I-526 and then to US 17 (Savannah Hwy) which sets you up for a right turn into the campground.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Another stay here at Cherry Hill Park. All utilities worked properly (water, sewer, electric). Park was almost full every weekend, so WiFi speed suffered greatly. Provided cable TV was okay. Lots of over the air TV available. Verizon voice and data were excellent. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here, again, as we staged for our summer trip to D.C. They even put us in the same site as our March visit. Enjoyed a nice evening meal and morning waffles. Provided WiFi not as good this visit. Verizon, both voice and data, is excellent. All utilities (water, electric, sewer) worked nicely. The staff is great. Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We journeyed here to enjoy the Cherry Blossom Festival this year. Although, I feel the park is pricey, the amenities are more than adequate to justify the price. We used the Star Cafe a lot and the food is very good and freshly cooked. WiFi has improved a lot since our last visit in 2016. Verizon, both voice and data are strong. It's simply a good place to "camp" when you visit the D.C. area. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Park your car and use the 83 bus to get to the College Park Metro station and then take the Green line into the Mall. We found the Jim Henson/Kermit the Frog statue at the Univ of Maryland (student union).

Don't leave out a trip up to the Baltimore Inner Harbor and eat an excellent (although expensive) meal at Phillips Seafood. You can tour several historic ships at the harbor.

Also, the Flag House where the Star Spangle Banner Flag was created is just east of the harbor.

Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA, Enfield, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for one night traveling to D.C. Over the past month, Enfield has experience a lot of rain with snow and sleet. Our site was on the low end of the park. The ground surrounding the gravel drive was water logged. This made my power cord, water hose, sewer line and work boots very muddy. I'll have to clean them after I dry out. I would probably rate this campground higher if they had put me one row back where it was higher and dryer. Verizon voice and data very good. There is another RV park just north of here that suffers from the same malady of too much rain gives soggy conditions. This is probably a real nice park in the dry season. We camped at Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA in a Motorhome.

Heading north for the Cherry Blossoms. We use this KOA as our staging point for heading into the D.C. area and points north. All facilities worked as advertised. Cypress Landing, Dozier, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Came to this park as part of the evacuation of Florida for hurricane Irma. Manager, and his staff, could not have been kinder or more generous. The manager was doing everything he could to find a spot for evacuees to get them off the road. I was met by camp workers at 12:30 am (after a 13 hour drive) to get me backed in and settled. Over the weekend, there was free food available for everyone at the unfinished (at that time) pavilion. Roads and sites are gravel and dirt. Water pressure is over 100 lbs, so be sure to use a pressure regulator. Motor gasoline, as well as, non-ethanol gasoline is available for campers and the general public. Main office has a small store with the usual supplies. Verizon voice and data excellent. ATT is non-existent. I am told you can get ATT service at the boat dock. We look forward to returning here for a much more leisurely stay. We camped at Cypress Landing in a Motorhome.

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while on a business trip to the area. The more expensive sites are asphalt and out in the direct sun. There are some back-in spots on the south side of the park that are gravel and have shade and patio slabs. Our site, 117, was triangle shaped, so I was able to cock the trailer so that we weren't staring at the back of the neighbor's MH. Site is exceptionally level and the FHU connections (including TV and WiFi) were within easy reach. Not a comfortable site for late July with the temperatures in the mid 90' and heat index of 105F. (The asphalt does not cool well without a rain shower). Make sure your A/C is working. Check in was easy and all the "yellow shirts" were friendly and very helpful. The provided WiFi worked well. Verizon data and phone worked fine. ATT data was good but phone was marginal to good (unusual). Shower's are separate from the rest rooms and both are located at the south end of the park in the admin building. Overall, a good HOT stay. (smiley face). We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You are within walking distance of the Sam's Club, Wendy's and Applebee's. US 192 is very busy, especially during the morning and evening rush hour's, so plan your day accordingly. About 20 minutes to The Mouse and the I-Drive area. This area can be a fun area if you prepare ahead and practice common sense safety.
