Chewing Black Bones Campground, St Mary, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Large park on the banks of Lower Saint Mary Lake with sites ranging from full hookups in the open sun to partial or no hookups in the shade and along the banks of the Lake. This was our second time staying here, the first two years ago when nothing else was available in this great area of Glacier NP. Staff is good, maintenance overall is a bit rough but you just can't beat the location. You can choose between full hookup sites in the middle of the campground, partial hookup sites that are high bank to the lake or no hookup sites right on the lake. Lakeside sites are considered premium with a price bump. Large dump station available for the sites that do not have full hookups however the tank was overflowing when we left after a busy weekend. You can rent canoes, kayaks, bikes or a large teepee to spend the night in. We camped at Chewing Black Bones Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

launch your canoe or boat on the lake, fish from shore or just relax. Great location allows you easy access to Saint Mary's and the Going to the Sun Road, Swift Current Lake and Many Glacier area or an easy day drive over Chief Pass into Canada. Just down the road is Two Sisters Cafe with great food at pretty reasonable prices considering where you are or go the other way to the Cattle Baron Supper Club in Babb and get one of the best steak dinners anywhere.

Lakeside RV and Campground, Provo, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived on a hot day, had called ahead and was assured there would be space for our 28' RV with tow car and sure enough they placed us in the back of the park and right next to their portable bathroom/shower which as clean and cool with A/C. We camped at Lakeside RV and Campground in a Motorhome.

Barretts Park Campground, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We dry camped here for 4 nights on our way home from Glacier National Park after having driven by the site for over 30 years and it was a worth the stay. Operated by the Bureau of Reclamation there are 3 back in sites for RV or tents and a large dirt parking lot where you can stage as well. Tent sites are offered a large grassy area along the Beaver Head River with majestic shade trees and very clean pit toilets and water. Across the river on a classic suspension bridge is the day use picnic area complete with covered veranda, plenty of shade trees and ample front on the Beaver Head River to fish or float. This area is the end of the line for floaters/fisherman coming from miles upstream so the traffic around the "take out" ramp can get congested but all in all we found the folks to be friendly and once the sun set the whole place really quieted down. Only downsides is some traffic noise from I-15 and the nearby train tracks but we only heard 1 train a night during our stay. We camped at Barretts Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Dillon Mt. is only about 7 miles north with all shopping available plus there is a gas station/store/casino about 1/2 mile away on the north side of offramp #56. Easy day trips to Bannock State Park, Clarks Canyon Reservoir, Hwy 278 through The Big Hole to Wisdom or take the Scenic drive on the 278 to the 73 through the mountains to Elkhorn Hot Springs, ending up in Wise River.

Buckinghorse Wayside Provincial Park, Pink Mountain, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Privacy is lacking in this otherwise wonderful spot as all but one site is pretty much side by side to your neighbor. The one site hidden away was taken so we moved to the far end which was great, near the spotless pit toilets, close walk to the river and evidence of Moose everywhere. We camped at Buckinghorse Wayside Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Muncho Lake Provincial Park - Strawberry Flats Campground, Muncho Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived early in the afternoon and was able to get a awesome site right on the lakefront. Easy access, fire ring and picnic table plus nice gravel area level and ready to occupy. Nearby pit toilets were cleaner than many flush ones. Planned on spending two nights but only stayed one since the folks at the nearby lodge said it was too early in the season for any serious fishing. We camped at Muncho Lake Provincial Park - Strawberry Flats Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As we were leaving, heading north, we stopped at the Stone Sheep viewing area to gaze miles up onto the steep cliffs into the morning sun without success. Drove another mile or so and found a ram coming down the face to the road and another half mile and came across a group of ewes and lambs, 9 total, blocking the AlCan as they ate minerals from the road surface.

Crooked River Provincial Park (Bear Lake), Bear Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Spent two nights here on the way to Alaska and what a dream with the one exception of Hwy 97 noise. Our site was spotless, on the lake with easy access to launch our canoe. We camped at Crooked River Provincial Park (Bear Lake) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If not a weekday night, suggest advance reservations as we understand the place is packed on weekends and the extent of the facilities would indicate a great infrastructure for lots of folks. Nearby Bear Lake is basic to the max so bring what you need. Sites 50-56 are all "on the lakefront" with easy access to the water.

overnight stay went well with great customer service in a clean and easy to navigate park. Laundry is right next to warm pool and hot spa which made the wait more tolerable. Supper clean park with lots of full timers that did not interfere. We camped at Horn Rapids RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Mono Vista RV Park, Lee Vining, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Great office service before arrival, switched our one nights stay with ease and a smile. Arrived after hours to find instructions posted on office door. Space was tight, even for a 28' class A with tow but adequate and easy access to hookups of water and electric. Small view of Mono Lake, nice dog path and short walk into town. We camped at Mono Vista RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pioneer Beach Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

While pricy this resort offers everything from daily trash pickup at your site to easy access via a nice boardwalk on to the beach just a short hike away. With mostly fully contained units there is little need for bathrooms and showers but the building near out site 304 was immaculate and private with your own oversized 3/4 bath if needed. Fenced dog run, ponds with native and migratory birds and a reasonable distance into Port Aransas proper or Corpus Christi. As one would expect, mostly long term snowbirds, 80% who have/drive their own classy gold carts to get around. We were made to feel comfortable even though or stay was short at just a week. We camped at Pioneer Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina, Needles, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects winter discount of "pay for 2 nights and stay for 3". We really like this place, full hookups just feet from the beautiful Colorado River. Desert topography does afford some shade trees, beyond that it is dirt spots. Recommend you reserve early. The A or D sites in the all the areas do not block you in between other rigs, but even so most all have nice views of the river. You can make fires on the beach and it is dog friendly. There is good cell service throughout the peninsula camping areas on the river; however, while they only support wifi in the vicinity of the camp store and restaurant we have found that if you camp in peninsula sites 1-16 the wifi signal worked fine on my laptop. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Pirates Cove has nice restaurant, etc., we also like to either drive or take the river down to the recently redone Topak 66 for good food and a dip in their pool. Easy day trips to Havasu City and Oatman

Prince Rupert RV Campground, Prince Rupert, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Owner is a bit grumpy but we decided to give him some slack after his wife told us he suffered from a head injury. Got us 2 side by side spaces with no advance reservation with full hookups in an otherwise pretty full park. While not spectacular in view this park is open, easy to access and generally well kept once you look past 2 of the 4 clothes dryers inoperable and 1 of the 3 showers down but then were not picky and did not have to wait in line for either service. Firewood is expensive at $15 for large bundle, we made it last 2 nights. Good satellite and wifi reception. We camped at Prince Rupert RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Kinnikinnick Campground & RV Park, Port Edward, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived a day early but staff was accommodating and got us 2 sites side by side. Once we managed to make it up the very steep grade we found both sites offered 15amp electric with broken outlets open to the weather. The overall access and feel was so poor we asked for a refund which was agreed to with a smile. We camped at Kinnikinnick Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
