Naval Air Station Key West Campground, Naval Air Station Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is for active or retired Military only. It is the only campground closest to old town KW, Duval St. and the seaport. We stayed here for 4 days at Christmas and it was packed. Make sure you are checked in prior to 8pm or you will not be assigned a spot until the next day. There are only 93 sites with full hookups, with the remaining 400 sites as overflow. If active duty, you can reserve for full hookup. Otherwise, it is first come first serve with a 3-4 week rotation into a 2 week with full hookup. Since we were only here for 4 days, we were resigned to dry camping with generator hours of 11-7. Luckily the temps were mild with a breeze off the gulf and even though we were not waterfront, we still had great water views. Considering the price and comparison to paying full price at campgrounds further from town, we loved our stay and would come back again. We camped at Naval Air Station Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Davie / Ft. Lauderdale KOA, Davie, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

We were a little leery about this place because there were no reviews on this website, but after reading other reviews about campgrounds in the area, we are so glad we picked this place. The campground is on 10.5 acres so even though the sites are close together, there is still a feeling of privacy and quiet from the hustle and bustle of the city. This KOA is only a year old and they are continuing to make improvements. The facilities were very clean. All the sites are backin, with nice patio furniture and concrete patio, and the staff was very helpful with unhooking tow and parking. Their dog park is wonderful and our German shepherd loved to run around in the very large area. We would definitely come back again. We camped at Davie / Ft. Lauderdale KOA in a Motorhome.

New River Campground, Gauley Bridge, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 4 nights in order to experience the outdoors in the surrounding areas. It's just 30 minutes or less away from most of the whitewater outfitters, and horse riding stables. We loved our campsite parallel right by the water. People would put their kayaks, canoes, and floats in directly in front of their campsites. The view from the New River and cliffs across the river was gorgeous! Trains would come thru parallel from the campground, across the river every couple of hours all day and night, but my husband and I slept in our motorhome and didn't hear them and the kids slept in their tents and weren't disturbed by them in the least. Hubby and kids used the bath house regularly and said they were clean. The kids enjoyed throwing a fishing line out and jumping in for swim. The campground sold fishing bait and we also bought firewood from the campground for the fire ring which have a built in grate for grilling. Each campsite also has a picnic table. We had shade so was unable to use our antenna, and the wi-fi was sporadic at our site, but we didn't miss it because we had so much to do, and just loved sitting out and soaking up the views. We didn't want to leave and would definitely come back again! We camped at New River Campground in a Motorhome.

Keesler AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Keesler AFB, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We literally limped into the campground with no brakes and a flat tire on Memorial Day. The office was closed for the holiday, but a friendly regular came out and recommended the perfect spot for us, considering that we were in need of rv repairs. It was flat, pull-thru, with shade. The next day, the manager referred a repair service truck to help us with our brake problem and we were good to go then. Everyone was friendly, and you just can't beat the price! We stayed 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised that even though the campground is part of the air force base, it was very quiet with no sound of planes taking off.I would have liked to stay longer, but we had other commitments. I would definitely go back again. We camped at Keesler AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Bristol / Kingsport KOA, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We were just passing through the area so only stayed 1 night out of the Memorial Day weekend. The rate reflects that it was on a holiday weekend. Everyone was friendly and they provide an escort to your site. We were on a pull-thru site without a patio which was fine for us. The campground was filling up fast with trailers backed up against each other, but we luckily had a site to ourselves and didn't even have to unhook our towed vehicle. This place has lots of activities for everyone (pony rides, pool, playground, and movies). I could see coming here for a week to decompress and not leaving the campground. They will even deliver your food order from their cafe to your site for free. Lovely area and I highly recommend it especially for families. We camped at Bristol / Kingsport KOA in a Motorhome.

Swan Creek, Tanner, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here on Memorial Day weekend for 2 nights visiting family on our way down to Biloxi, MS. This is definitely a no frills campground. We were told by family members that it was flattened by a tornado a couple of years back. In spite of all this, it was very clean, and quiet. We had a pull thru site with a concrete patio. Plenty of area to walk our dog, and there is a small playground. We did not use the shower facility or clubhouse, but they looked clean. The campground is close enough to Decatur and Huntsville. We camped at Swan Creek in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second time at the campground and we were only passing thru this time and stayed 1 night. The staff was very friendly and gave recommendations when we were choosing our spot. We had a nice long shaded pull-thru with full hookups and didn't have to unhook our towed vehicle. This is a beautiful campground with lots of kid/family activities, and we enjoy staying here. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.
