Crater of Diamonds State Park , Murfreesboro, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Our site required very little leveling and was very nice. The only problem was a burn ban due to very dry conditions. On our walks we saw numerous deer. We did not hunt for diamonds since it cost an additional $10 per person. We camped at Crater of Diamonds State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Southern Dine restaurant in Murfreesboro is a very nice place to get a meal. There is no place in town to get any supplies if you forget something. Nashville is 13 miles away.

Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp), Mid-South Naval Support Activity, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The camp host met us as we pulled in and gave us information needed to enjoy the camp. Our only complaint was that our site was one of two with absolutely no shade. You can't reserve a particular site so what you get is it. We camped at Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Devil's Den State Park, West Fork, Arkansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The site was level side to side. It was a bit tight backing in with a tree on one side and the identification post on the other. If you go here, contact them ahead of time and park first if possible. The area around the visitors center is extremely tight. I could not have gotten my truck and trailer in and out of the parking lot. We camped at Devil's Den State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The trails were well marked but we found no information packets on what we would see while walking. The Yellow Rock Trail was very nice as was the Fossil Flats trail. The Devils Den Trail had some sketchy spots that concerned me about those who have balance problems.

Lufkin KOA (formerly Lufkin RV Resort), Lufkin, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The above price reflects a weekly rate. The 30 amp breaker tripped leaving me with a hot fridge and trailer after being gone all day.

Switched to the 50 amp using my adapter and it did fine. We camped at Lufkin KOA (formerly Lufkin RV Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very crowded with very little room to back in or pull out. Cars parked everywhere. Was a foot off level from front to back. I saw pets but have no idea on their policy. I noticed trash around the park. It was a holiday weekend but I expected better.

I would stay in a parking lot with no water and electricity to keep away from this place. We camped at Montgomery Bell State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great place to stay. Quiet at night. The back-in space was easy to get into even for an inexperienced driver. Only level spot found during a two week trip! We camped at Heavenly Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Parker Dam State Park, Weedville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We were surprised to find the site we had reserved was not big enough despite a phone conversation with someone from the park service. The ranger was helpful in getting us into a proper site. The second site was fine and we enjoyed our stay there. There was a group of tents across from us that left trash all over their site.

Site was mainly level but tight to get into. No vehicles can be on the grass and only one vehicle per site. Guests must park a half mile away. We camped at Parker Dam State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pay close attention to the length of the pad and make sure you have room for both trailer and vehicle. Not many over 40 feet.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Mount Jackson, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Was guided to our spot by the host who was kind and helpful. The lay out of the utilities caused us to have to stretch our 20ft sewer hose to the limit. We were in site 12 which placed us very close to I-81. The noise from the road made sleeping very difficult. The park showed a movie for campers which ended at their quiet time of 10 but after 8 hours on the road, I did not want to hear it when it came time to sleep. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Spring Lake RV Resort, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. We stayed one night as we traveled through. Manager was very nice and helpful.

If you stay here, watch for the first entrance as the sites are set up for entry that direction. Easy to get to from I-40. Did not see a lot there for children. We camped at Spring Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Brushy Creek COE, Jefferson, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The restrooms were not touched the entire weekend we were there. C301 was a level site but if you backed only as far as you could to use the stabilizers, the door and awning opened up to dirt with the picnic table in a unmovable position 15 feet away. We camped at Brushy Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Brushy Creek COE, Jefferson, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in E313 close to the water. A burn ban was in effect so no outside fires were permitted. The site was level in all directions. While it wasn't dirty, there were a number of cigarette butts laying around the site. The "groaning" of the dock across the cove made it difficult to sleep the first night. We camped at Brushy Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Marshall is the closest place to get supplies if you need them. It is about 20 miles away. Jefferson is much closer but none of the stores there look like a place I would go into.

Maumelle COE, Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 nights at Maumelle. The site (C9) was well shaded and level side to side. It was sloped to the back which made leveling front to back a bit interesting. The grass had not been mowed in some time when we got there but they began to mow after the weekend. The campground was very quiet. When I had problems with the 30 amp breaker tripping due to the heat, the attendant was very little help. He shrugged it off and suggested I drive 20 miles to an RV store to buy a 50 amp adapter. We camped at Maumelle COE in a Travel Trailer.

After we picked up the trash left at our site, backing in and setting up was a breeze. We enjoyed the walking trails in the park and loved seeing the deer as we walked. Campground was quiet at night. Our only issue in camping at D-6 was the ants that invaded our trailer the second day. We camped at Clear Spring COE in a Travel Trailer.
