Hy-Land Court RV Park, Ellison Bay, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park. We booked early for two sites together and they gave us a beautiful choice with a lawn and fire pit between us. Lots of trees for shade but enough sky space for our friends satellite. Laundry facilities are good and clean. Seasonal folks are very friendly. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Hy-Land Court RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hancock / Stevens Point South KOA, Hancock, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Park looks very new, is well maintained, and has good security. Staff made great efforts to accommodate us in a site that would work with our rig. site was level and spacious. Dog exercise area was clean and big enough for our corgis to run a bit. Also, a spring-fed pond was fun for both us and the dogs to cool off.

The bathroom situation was strange. Although very clean, only one bathroom/shower was available after hours because the other was inside the pool area and locked. There are 2 other bathroom/showers available that are ADA, but you have to pay for them: not sure if this is even legal.

Downsides were some highway noise, and very bright halogen lights on the buildings that didn't allow much darkness if you're a star gazer.

We would stay again but not for a vacation: more as a stopover. We camped at Hancock / Stevens Point South KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearest grocery is in Plover or Wautoma. iMap indicates 2 others that are closer but one was a factory farm (Hancock) and the other was a permanently closed grocery store (Coloma.) Small taverns around the area were fun and had a good fish fry on Friday.

Hixton / Alma Center KOA, Hixton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely spot. Very easy in and out of pull-through sites. Water was good, electric worked well and we had a full hookup site. Terraced to provide separation from neighbors. Nice landscaping and attention to homey details. Did not use the pool or kids stuff, but enjoyed the view from our site...could see fireworks from all different areas. Will definitely come again. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was the proximity to the highway and motorcycle/truck noise. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Gunflint Pines resort and Campground, Grand Marais, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We are newbie RVers and wanted to experience the great outdoors. This spot was perfect. We had a wonderful site with water and electric and, since we were kinda new at all of this, our host helped us quite a bit. The lake was gorgeous and we heard loons and coyotes at night. Shower house and bathrooms were spotless with plenty of hot water to remove the (very necessary) mosquito repellent (it's Minnesota in the summer, so mosquitoes are the norm.) One hour drive into Grand Marais for a day of shopping and great food. Hiking trails were fun, as was the museum at the end of Gunflint Trail. We love this campground and will definitely be back.. We camped at Gunflint Pines resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rustic Barn RV Park, Kieler, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept small park. Easy to find. Pull-through sites were a bit tight but nice under trees for shade. Owners were great and had everything we needed (we're kind of new at this). Close to Dubuque if gambling is on the menu. We camped at Rustic Barn RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
