Chattanooga North / Cleveland KOA, Cleveland, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice small park, easy on and easy off from I 75. It is a perfect stop over for those traveling south to Florida, or for those traveling north from Florida. There are no full timers at this park. It is meticulously maintained by a family, and they are extremely gracious and accommodating. The owners escort you to your site and help you to get settled. We were not traveling, we came here as a destination because it is close to where we live and we just wanted a few days to get away and have some peace and quiet which is what we got. We went to Chattanooga to shop, lots of area amenities! When we got hooked up we realized we had a problem with our water heater and the owners gave us the number of a really great company that came out to our site and fixed our issue, all at a great price. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again and we will return. The sites are somewhat close together but they are not bad at all, there are places for people to tent, and there are some adorable small cabins that are rentable throughout the property. We brought our dogs as usual and there is a great area to walk them along some trails that are adjacent to the tent area. In the quiet of the night, there are a few noises from the highway, but it isn't enough to be annoying. We also heard a train, but we love it. We had no need for AC so windows were open. The showers were clean and large and wonderful! The store at the office was quaint and immaculate. The laundry was also there and was well-maintained and clean. The park has won a couple of KOA awards this year and we can understand why. They deserved it! We camped at Chattanooga North / Cleveland KOA in a Motorhome.

There are quite a few pull through sites. Most backin sites are large enough for whatever you have. Our site was large enough for our rig and a towed vehicle, but we do not toad, so lots of room.

Fancy Gap / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA, Fancy Gap, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is probably one of my favorite campgrounds ever! It is small, but cute and quaint with good sized sites. There are some pull-throughs. We had a back in site with a fenced in area for our dogs, it was terrific and unique, have never seen this before! The park is wooded and hilly, but extremely well maintained. There are some sites with patios. There are also cottages for rent and tent sites. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table and a spaced nicely apart. Although we didn't use the bath house, it was immaculate and also quaint. There is a dump station, but there are full hookups available to include cable. The wifi isn't bad, nor is the cable considering how rural it is, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a pool, but not open yet, still pretty cold in these parts! We arrived late, after the office had closed, and we had a reservation. We switched sites and cleared it up in the a.m. The own was quite cordial about the switch. We only stayed one night but will definitely return! We camped at Fancy Gap / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We came in from 77, which is an easier way than ascending from Mt. Airy, NC just over the border. You have to go up a really steep curvy mountain from that direction. We did go home that way but it was all downhill.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $83.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large park outside of Washington DC. It is very well-maintained and very clean, and offers just about everything for everyone. We came here because we had to attend a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. We stayed for three days. The staff is great and the amenities are countless. There is a large store where you check in, and you can buy just about everything in there! The park is open year round and is quite busy. It is best to book online! We had a nice pull through site which was level, it had a fire ring, picnic table and a patio with table and chairs. It is a little bit congested but wooded and nice. There are hiking trails, tent sites, RV sites and rental units, but the park is very well thought out and planned. We would definitely stay again, even though it's pricey. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA, Enfield, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night while we were traveling north, it is a nice small park, it's wooded and quiet, even though it is right off of 95. It is easy in and easy out. The managers are really nice folks, very hospitable! I felt the nightly rate was a bit high @ $52, we paid $46 with our KOA membership, but The convenience to Highway 95 was excellent and it was in farmland so it made it very quiet overnight. We had full hookup and pull through, and camped with our dogs, everyone was happy. They come and collect your garbage for you in the a.m. You have a picnic table. There were some full-timers there as well, but not an issue. There are also a couple of private mobile homes on the perimeter. There is a really large field where the dog exercise area is and it is perfect to run your dog after a long day of driving. There is a pool. We will stay again. We camped at Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA in a Motorhome.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

What a beautiful park on top of a mountain in rural NE Alabama! The spaces are roomy and it is woodsy and clean. It is easy to make a reservation on their website. We had to reserve and cancel three times due to some well issues at our home, but there was no problem, they email you back with a confirmation of the cancellation. They do require 72 hours notice. The park is laid out well. There are a couple of spots (hard to get) that are on a rock ledge overlooking the valley. The sites are roomy, level with gravel, all have a fire pit and picnic table. We were in #30 and it was full hookup with cable! We were pleasantly surprised! The cell service is even pretty good. I'm on their WiFi now typing this review. There are some pull through. We no longer toad, our rig is 24 feet and we had LOTS of room. There were some big rigs throughout. There are walking trails and great facilities, but it is rustic and not "cheesy" like some parks....right up our alley. There is also a lodge and restaurant within the park, cabins too. The only drawback when we arrived was that one of our neighbors assumed we all wanted to hear he and his friends play electric guitar and sing (country), but they weren't obnoxious and the ate dinner and stopped. They actually weren't half bad! Being on top of a mountain, in the woods, I thought it was kind of fun, my husband not so much, LOL. Weekends are always booked, as summer approaches they will fill up fast, reserve early if you can. We will return for sure. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice park, large grassy sites, pool, quiet! There was no one here! It is in a very rural area. The park has a pool, a store and is right near a large lake. Very nice area to hike and boat. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place! We gave it an A. We camped at Fort McCoy / Lake Oklawaha KOA in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground, Lizella, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here numerous times traveling back and forth from Florida. It is extremely convenient because it is just outside of Macon about 10 miles from 475. It is peaceful, quiet, tranquil and beautiful, not to mention inexpensive! We have been there in a large class A and also in a travel trailer, there are full hook ups and everyone overlooks the lovely lake. There are numerous pull through sites as well as back-in sites, the ones right on the water do not have sewer. Everything about the park is neat and clean, there is a boat ramp and a fishing dock. Trash receptacles are at the entrance, we either walked it up there or dropped it off on the way out. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We will stay here again. We camped at Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground in a Motorhome.

The Simple Life Campground & Cabins, Robbinsville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a very unique one, geared toward bikers in an area known for extreme motorcycle fanaticism. The park is mostly made up of small cottages, but there are a few tent sites and only a couple RV sites. It is also on the side of a mountain so you drive up the hill to get to the registration, Although we were in a large class A, I wouldn't consider this park to be friendly towards big rigs. They simply do not have space for them, just one site. Smaller rigs may be accommodated, but call and ask first. The owners are warm, friendly and accommodating, and do their best to make your stay a pleasant one. Great folks. We've stayed there twice. We camped at The Simple Life Campground & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We loved this spacious park! The sites were large and private, it was wooded and level. Fire rings and picnic tables are at each one. It has wonderful walking trails throughout, and a large grassy area, great for your dog to run, it even has a dog park, and a wonderful general store. We loved it! We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We were in a large class A at the time and getting through the narrow roads getting to the park was slightly challenging, you might want to check out coming in from the south, we came in from the north. The park roads are spacious, well paved and easy to maneuver.

Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel, Cedar Key, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Cramped park, but nice hosts. We met some really nice folks here. They have a great store with baked goods. There area some great sites right on the inland waterway. We had an issue with the MH and had to leave, no refund, but this is pretty standard. Pet friendly and real close to town, worth a stay. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

Old Town Campground 'N Retreat, Old Town, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is just a wee place on the property of the landowner and host. It is a great place to spend the weekend just to chill out in your coach, but it doesn't have a lot to offer other than a completely wonderful host who is more than attentive and so friendly. We met some very nice folks here. Although I wouldn't call it a destination, it is definitely worth an overnight--laid back, pet friendly, a few fulltimers. It has a very small library in the office, and some bathrooms and laundry area, but that is about all. Heard all kinds of wildlife at night! Lovely area! We camped at Old Town Campground 'N Retreat in a Motorhome.

Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek), Homosassa Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

The park was OK but not a destination. We felt there were too many fulltimers there. There are some quiet spots away from the clubhouse and pool that seem to be the center of the park but then you are getting a little close to the main road. It is rural and quiet for the most part. It is close to the Homossassa River. Clubhouse has a restaurant. We were told there were nearby hiking trails. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Creekwood Resort Campground & Cabins, Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2014 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed the peace and quiet at this small park, but not much room to walk dogs and was unimpressed that they prefer cash or check and that there is a 3% charge a for credit cards. The park is clean and maintained, hosts are friendly. The area is gorgeous, even though it rained the whole stay, just don't drive through Helen to get there or you'll be stuck in traffic. Very scenic! We camped at Creekwood Resort Campground & Cabins in a Motorhome.
