Indian Springs Campground, Garrett, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Terrifying, crumbling one-lane bridge to cross to enter the campground. Worker says it will be replaced this fall. Resident insists it is solid. I almost turned around before crossing the bridge, and I wish I had done so. Once registered, we couldn't even identify our site by looking at it. A worker happened by and pointed to where we should park. It is merely dirt, but when the rain comes it will be mud. Our site was not cleaned up from the previous guests who left behind garbage in the "fire pit." There was a random pile of charred wood debris on the edge of the campsite where there was no fire ring at all. It would be easy for the whole place to burn down. The "lakes" are topped with scum. There is a swimming pond with water slide that appears to be out of commission. At any rate, I would advise against using it. Lots of ants around the campsite, and I hope they don't invade the RV. I would leave, but I paid in advance for three nights, and they don't give refunds. We camped at Indian Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Deer Run Resort, Elkader, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is what an RV park should be. Beautiful, clean, very well maintained, manicured landscaping, lots of elbow room. Sites are concrete in excellent condition. Utilities are clean, solid, and fully functional. Huge grassy areas. Wooded hillside with doe and fawns. Truly an oasis. Elkader, Iowa is off the beaten path but very much worth the effort to visit. This is the best of the best. I wish all RV parks were designed and maintained like this. We camped at Deer Run Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

When you turn off the highway, don't take the first road into town. The second road will take you right to the campground and will avoid the 5-ton weight-limited bridge into downtown. The first road will get you to the campground, but the route is not as obvious. Just go straight ahead. Don't turn into downtown over the bridge.

Hidden Village RV Park & Campground, Lynden, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Nice shady green park. Half of sites are long-term residents in a separate section. RV sites are clean, well maintained, spacious, and grassy. Nice shade, but sky is open for satellite TV. Quiet. Far enough off the main road to eliminate most traffic noise. Nice people at the check-in desk. Will happily stay there again when visiting family in Lynden. We camped at Hidden Village RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Lynden / Bellingham KOA, Lynden, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very disappointing. Extremely overcrowded. We were assigned a site on the "front lawn." Partial hookups included a 50-foot-long, 30amp extension cord stretched from a pedestal at a "real" site to ours, and two daisy-chained garden hoses from that same site for our water supply. The owners obviously tried to expand the number of campsites without investing in utilities. We left after finding the site unacceptable. Campground policy offers a full refund if you decide to leave within an hour of arrival. Really? Why would they even need such a policy if they were providing satisfactory service? I'll never reserve a site here again. We camped at Lynden / Bellingham KOA in a Motorhome.
