Colorado River Thousand Trails, Columbus, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is a Passport America Rate. Phoned ahead and made reservation. Charged $21. Upon arrival, told 50amp service would be another $3. Certainly not the $3 bucks, but it would have been nice to have been told this at the time of reservation. We spent only one night here. Placed in the "A" area which was LOADED with Sandspurs and I mean LOADED. There were also an abundance of active fire ant mounds. I assume the nice area is for actual thousand trail/encore members. The basket ball and tennis courts appeared run down. Park staff was friendly but we would never stay here again mainly due to the sandspurs and ants. We camped at Colorado River Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Poche's RV Park, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The rate was a Passport America rate. They are located about 2 miles from I-10 with good directions and signs posted along the route. We stayed only one night and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The campground was peaceful and quiet with several large lakes. They seem more geared to the fish camp than the RV side, although we found the site to be adequate. Although we didn't try to fish, our neighbor was doing so without any luck. We did have an issue with low water pressure so we ended up using our tank water instead. There is also a lot of road dust and the roads are a bit narrow, but not so much so that we couldn't get our 40"' 5th wheel backed in. There isn't a lot of shade trees so the place might be hot in the summer but we would camp here again. We camped at Poche's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedar Creek Park RV & Driving Range, Cave Spring, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The staff are all friendly and helpful. The park is adequate but not a lot more than a parking lot, although the lots on the creek side are a bit nicer. (We stayed mountainside.) We likely wouldn't stay here again, as there is nothing that makes this park 'stand out' and it is about 40 miles from the interstate in the 'middle' of nowhere. We camped at Cedar Creek Park RV & Driving Range in a Fifth Wheel.

Riverhouse Acres RV Campground, Canton, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for a month. There were mixed reviews online but we were excited to be ‘on a organic farm’ and to learn and blog about beekeeping. The website makes many statements, which are untrue. The owners do not grow vegetables, they lease a field to someone else to grow tomatoes. There is no WiFi in the campground, the greenhouse is a dilapidated shell full of garbage, and the path down to the river and other areas are overgrown with poison ivy. The bees are gone, lost to mites and the power poles are located at the front of the sites, but if you need to use an extension cord, they charge extra. Our puppy developed a terrible rash about a week into our stay. After 2 weeks on antibiotics he still isn't cleared up so we have yet another vet appointment scheduled. Leaving things on a positive note, the (adult) children, were all very nice people. We enjoyed their hospitality but we would not stay here again. We camped at Riverhouse Acres RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Springwood RV Park, Greenville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

There is a reason there is no picture on their website. The park is extremely run down with a lot of very old mobile homes and RVs of permanent residents. The park is also in a run-down area of town. No amenities. The only plus I can give is that the manager was a very nice man. Would not stay here again. We camped at Springwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hardeeville RV, Hardeeville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park was just "OK". Great for a short stop over but not somewhere I'd want to camp long term. There isn't much here in the way of amenities, but it will suffice for a few days. There is a laundry facility on site, but many of the machines were broken. On the plus side, it is very convenient to Savannah, GA. We camped at Hardeeville RV in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort, Crystal River, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here a month at the 'tail-end' of the season, so many residents had left and the activities were winding down. Pleasant park with lots of shade and amenities. Some sites are owned by the resident. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
