Aspen Campground, Forest Lakes, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is located in the National Forest near Wood Canyon Lake (walking Distance). The entrance and campground roads are paved. The campsite pads are paved with large areas of open space and trees around many sites. No utilities at your site so fill your water at one of the many locations throughout the park. Solar panels are not reliable here, at least some sites, due to the trees. Generators are allowed during the day and early evening. We camped at Aspen Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Beavertail Hill State Park, Clinton, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This was my first camp here at Beavertail Hill State Park and turned out to be more than I expected. It looks like they upgraded the campground recently as the 50 amp electric pedestal looked new. The bathrooms are clean vault toilets. No showers are available here. Also water is available, but not at the sites, unless you are lucky. Site 006 was within my hose reach and I was able to connect when I needed a refill of my freshwater tank. Campsites are large with plenty of trees for some privacy. A few campsites are tight for larger RV's. My fifth wheel is 32' and a little tight on site 006 where I parked, but doable. The big negative here for RV's is there isn't a Dump for your tanks. I went to Bretz's RV in Missoula. They have a free dump. Also if you don't like train noise, there are a few trains passing near here throughout the day. While not too close, you can hear it. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Located along the Clarks Fork River, float, kayak and fish. Nature trail is about an hour's walk. Clinton Market is nice place to shop only ten minutes away. I visited Garnet Ghost Town, only an hour away. If you go take hwy 200 out of Missoula. It's longer by at least thirty minutes, but paved, that is unless you want to go four wheeling. Most of the roads on the map off of Interstate 90 are dirt and get pretty rough.

Hood Park - COE, Pasco, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Great park, as are all the COE parks I've visited. The parks I have been to were built in the early to mid 1900's, as huge water projects were being built. This park was built in 1950 as part of the McNary Dam project and is very well maintained. Our forefathers really had it together on these projects. The spaces are large compared to what we find in modern campgrounds and the prices remain very affordable. We camped at Hood Park - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Laundromat in town. Prices at the store and restaurants are a little pricy. There is a McDonald's and Carl's Jr. The Totem restaurant was good as was the Alabama Hills Cafe and Bakery.

Roadrunner RV Park, Lake Elsinore, California

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I found this RV Park pleasant to visit for several weeks. It's somewhat dated, but in decent repair. It could use some tender loving care though. If it were updated I would have given it an 8 or 9. It appears the park is 90% filled with full time residents who are pleasant, quiet during the day and evenings. Sites are mostly average for RV parks, but my Ram 2500 parked on the site with my 32 foot fifth wheel would have been a little tight. There was additional parking very close by though and I chose to use it. RV Park borders the lake. The staff was very pleasant. We camped at Roadrunner RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

OK RV Park, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Good overnight campground in a desert setting. Sites are very narrow and long. The host requests that you park at alternating ends which work out fine. I was able to open my three slides with no problem. Level gravel sites and paved entry roads. I stayed here overnight and would return. We camped at OK RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hidden Valley RV Resort, Tijeras, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I chose this location due to PA Discounts, but due to the Balloon Fiestal they were not offering anything and jacked up the prices. $20 here might have been okay for a one night stay. I have never written this bad of a review on any site. I do believe in giving the benefit of the doubt and I have not given the management a chance to correct anything, but I don't know they would be able to, since I am only staying one night and the rest of the sites around me are similar. Gravel and mostly dirt with some mud because of the rain. My site is overgrown with weeds, not grass and dirt. It has 30 amp with Sewer and water. No table or fire ring. The site is not level with a pothole or two and just barely long enough for my Truck and Fifth wheel. The office looks trashy, but the attendant was pleasant. The pool is closed. I will not come here again. We camped at Hidden Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The facility is small, older, but in good condition. There seem to be a couple of seasonal campers here. The campsite was a pull through with 50 amp, Water and Sewer service. All functioned well. The site was gravel and mostly level. The Host/Owner was friendly and very helpful. There is a small pond at the back of the property, but not all that attractive or usefull. I stay here 4 nights and would return again. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pocahontas State Park, Chesterfield, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

My stay here was more of a stop over than a destination visit. I am traveling the central east coast this summer and booked my stay in advance to insure a place to park my fifth wheel during the holiday weekend. The park was full with mostly family's enjoying the holiday.

I found the park to be very nice with privacy and loss of trees, which I enjoy. There is a laundry room here with three washers and dryers, a plus for s state park, and they were in good condition. Also the park has a pool and kayak rentals available for campers. We camped at Pocahontas State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hardeeville RV, Hardeeville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Great stay for a private park. Sites were wide and some shaded (I got lucky), Grounds were immaculate with open areas grass. My dog enjoyed the Dog Park, nice size, clean and benches to sit on with partial shade. I only interacted with the host one time and she was pleasant, not overly talkative. Met me at the office and pointed out my site which was right there. We camped at Hardeeville RV in a Fifth Wheel.

Cactus RV Park, Tucumcari, New Mexico

As others have posted this is an old Motel on Route 66 that has been closed many years. I think it is on the historic site list. Current owner has used the old parking lot and built RV Sites. Also in the back of the motel.

This was an overnight stay for me, but I did drive around a little. I will stay here again when passing through. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There are several unique properties near the park and worth a walk around. The town in general looks depressed since the Route 66 was bypassed with the new interstate.

Long Ridge Campground, Hiawassee, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

I found this campground because of Passport America. Like someone else mentions here, "don't worry if you think you're in a residential neighborhood " when driving here. It does ver off in a secluded canyon. A beautiful campground with excellent utilities and free wifi. I only stayed here two nights, but I wish I could have stayed a week or longer. The host and owner of the campground was very nice. Campsites were a little difficult to pull into and I did have to level my rig. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

T. O. Fuller State Park, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The campground had many old trees and very thick growth. It was beautiful. Campground was very quiet, but humidity was high during my stay. Sites were mostly level. Not many campers here when I stayed. There is also a public pool you can use on the grounds, but about a mile away from the campground. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't go in the restrooms or showers. The laundry room was not up to par as far as I am concerned and I chose not to do my laundry there. We camped at T. O. Fuller State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I spent a little time in Memphis, but I was only here for a few days. I was a little disappointed with some sections of the city. Very run down, many buildings deserted. I didn't get to go to any museums and I heard they were nice. The roads in Tennessee are some of the worst I have seen so far. Even the interstate had huge potholes. Not good when you're pulling a fifth wheel. I ended up having a flat tire on my truck during my stay here and had to replace the tire.

I did go to the Chucalissa indian mounds and exhibit in the park near the campground. It was interesting and a free pass is included with your stay.

I tried to go to Graceland and was disappointed and turned around. They want $10 to park and $30 to get in the building. Not to mention you would have to wait for two hours in the heat. No thanks.

Onapa RV Park and Campground, Checotah, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

I stopped here for a overnight camp, but decided to stay another day. Pleasant and restful retreat after multiple days of driving. It's a small family owned park and nicely kept. Utilities were very good. Site were level gravel-dirt, as well as the interior roads.

A couple of days before I arrived they had heavy rain, but everything had drained off and dried. Many shaded spots with mature trees. A playground for children and a full basketball court for those inclined. The combination pool table, laundry room, bathroom and shower was okay. Only two washers and dryers, but worked good. We camped at Onapa RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory, Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with a few full time 'Park Model' homes. Very well kept; the property and the facilities. This time of year it's very empty but I was told in the winter months it's full and they do not take the PA discounts. I was going to stay here 1 night, but liked it so much I stayed 3. A fellow camper enjoyed the Observatory and presentation so I am going tonight. It's free! The roads are very nice and paved. The sites are paved with gravel on the sides under utilities and table. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.
