Anchor Down RV Resort, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay at anchor down. Excellent campground! Clean facility, excellent sites, great views, not a bad spot in the entire place. Bathrooms / showers were extremely clean. New basketball / tennis facility was very nice. Dog park looked pretty nice as well. I would recommend this CG to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area. Definitely cannot go wrong here! We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Davy Crockett Campground, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The campground looks like maybe it has new owners who are trying to turn it around. There is still a lot of work to be done. When we first arrived, we almost asked for a refund and left. The site that we chose was nowhere near large enough for our setup and the CG has some tight spots to maneuver in. However, the employees here did a great job in trying to ensure we had an enjoyable weekend. The site we were moved to was nice 50/30A FHU site with no issues whatsoever. They also have a lake for fishing. A pool, which was not open yet, is on the grounds and looks to be very well maintained. The basketball / tennis court was nice, but the hoops had some issues that need immediate attention. outdated sandbox and a shuffleboard / horseshoes area. We did not use the bathrooms so I cannot comment on those. Verizon service was great. All in all, we had a good weekend sitting by the fire as a family, and in the end, that's what this is all about. If you're looking for a decent place to get away, this is a good spot. If you're looking for resort quality camping, you might want to move along down the road. We camped at Davy Crockett Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rock Island State Park, Rock Island, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice campground. Roads and sites are all paved asphalt. The park recently upgraded their facilities so all the sites are nice. Be careful when reserving a site, there are a lot of really short or narrow sites and several drop off at the back so you may not be able to get your jacks down if you don't size right. Luckily, the site lengths are listed on the website. We stayed on site 39 with a 36' TT, it was a tight fit, but we managed to get it in there. The offset concrete patio was nice with a new picnic table, fire ring with grill attachment, and charcoal grill. Verizon service was nearly non existent(could barely even make a call, and no data service at all) and the CG wifi was poor to non existent as well. A Basketball and tennis court are across the street from the cg and there is a playground in the center with a pavilion and volleyball court as well. There is a sand beach in the park but not within walking distance from the cg. If you enjoy being outside and watching / listening to nature while you relax (which I do), this is the place for you, absolutely, do not miss it! Make sure to check out all the waterfalls and such when you visit, very cool stuff. we will return in the future. We camped at Rock Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cumberland Caverns is really neat if you enjoy touring caves. Its about 30 minutes away. Be prepared for a hefty price tag, not sure I would have gone if I knew that ahead of time ($19/per adult). Kayaking is a big thing here too. We saw an outfit called Jackson kayak right outside the park. It was too cold to go this weekend so we passed. They didn't show up in a Google search for outfitters before we went, so keep them in mind if that's your interest.

Jetty Park Campground, Cape Canaveral, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Nice gated campground, Clean bathrooms, poor laundry facility (2-outdoor W/D and the floor was covered in some sort of tree berries which when stepped on, created an even bigger mess. Site was level on a concrete pad, the pad was barely wide enough for the tt. Grass/dirt patio area. Sites are very close together. Beach access is within walking distance and included in price. There are no fire rings here but you can "rent" them from the cg. Why they think its appropriate to "rent" fire rings when most cg's have them on site is beyond me. Cruise ships can be seen going in and out of port which was pretty cool. The Disney cruise got the kids excited, lol. There is a playground in the park that is very nice but beware, there is NO shade. All in all, a good experience, but could have been better for the rate. If we were in the area we might consider staying again, but wouldn't make it a destination again. We camped at Jetty Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Gulf State Park Campground, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent facility! We really enjoyed our time here, the sites are paved and most appear to be level. Pool/splash pad is probably the nicest I have ever seen at a state park / cg. Restrooms are clean, Laundry facility is really nice, and while the beach is not within walking distance, it is in close proximity to the grounds. Only one downfall about this park that I can think to mention. No fire pits!!!! You have to bring your own if you want to have a fire. This is one of the things I look forward to the most when camping! Otherwise, everything was really nice. We will probably return in the future (with our own fire pit). We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Park is very family friendly, There is a nice pool, playground, and recreation field. Lots of families riding bicycles around the campground. When we went the campground was fully booked yet it didn't feel over packed. Our site was an asphalt pad, fairly level, with sand / gravel patio. Sites include a picnic table, fire ring and BBQ grill. We did not use the bath house but it was conveniently located in the center of the loop. We bought the adventure package and took the kids to the mountain amusements There is plenty of things for families to do there. We went to the laser show on Saturday night which seemed a bit outdated but it was fun to sit on the lawn with the family and enjoy a show. If they would invest a little bit into the show and update it, it would really be cool. We enjoyed our weekend here and will likely be back in the future. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cove Lake State Park, Caryville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park was very clean and quiet. The sites were very spacious and clean. Some leveling was required but nothing outrageous. The bath houses were a little outdated but clean. We stayed in the C loop which did not have a view of the lake but was adjacent to the playground, pavilion, and bath house. We stayed here with a family of 4 (small children)and met 2 other families. We really enjoyed the stay. We would stay here again. We camped at Cove Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
