Roadside Inn and RV, Thedford, Nebraska

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Just off US 83 behind the Roadside Hotel. Check in at hotel desk. Pretty basic, but full hookups. Big rigs OK, spaces 1 thru 5 are pull thru. There's a cable TV outlet but it's not connected to anything. Trains run just the other side of the road and like to use their horns. Not much around here. Pretty much a one horse town. Just a convenient spot to stop 200 miles south on US 83 from Pierre. We camped at Roadside Inn and RV in a Motorhome.

Circle R Campground, Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

It's been a rainy month. The campground was muddy and rutted off the narrow gravel pads and roads. Our sewer hookup was cracked and the sewer line was backed up. Narrow site, very level, tiny picnic table and fire ring had 2 enormous wet logs stacked in it. There is a full service bar on site. Not good value for money. We camped at Circle R Campground in a Motorhome.

Ho-Chunk Casino Campground, Baraboo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Choose your level of service! This is a casino with hotel and campground. You can dry camp free in the bus lot, camp electric only in the very well kept CG, go back in full hook UPS for $34 A night including tax, get a full hook up pull thru or stay in a "premium" site. We did back in FIG and like it. Playground for the kids, access to the hotel pool, restaurants in the casino. Handy for House on the Rock and the Railroad Museum. STOP AT THE HOTEL RECEPTION BEFORE DRIVING AROUND THE BACK TO THE CG. ALL CHECKINS ARE DONE AT THE FRONT DESK. We camped at Ho-Chunk Casino Campground in a Motorhome.

Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We rolled up midweek with no reservations. The amount of paperwork to get a site was crazy. DL, registration, proof of insurance. Then we had to be "escorted" to the pull thru 30 amp site. It must have taken nearly an hour to get from the gate to the site. The site is narrow and water, electric only. Gravel and right on top of the neighbors. We camped at Jefferson County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Leo's Campground, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

First off, if you are coming to this park DO NOT turn into the space next the office. Park on the street because you will only have to back out again onto a very narrow road to get to your site.

The place is a vastly overpriced dump. Directly across the street is a truck repair business and what appears to be a junk yard. They like to play music while they work. Very loudly. They park trucks up and down the street making it very tight getting in and out.

The spaces here are all very narrow and all except a couple are very short. Don't accept site 15, it's hard up against the bathhouse and laundry and people walk thru your site day and night.

This is the cheapest park in Key West but the layout is awful, our 36' MH filled the site with no room for the toad.

Terrible overpriced and noisy. We camped at Leo's Campground in a Motorhome.

The bus into Key West departs from right outside the park. About the only good thing about the place. You better take the bus because there are very few places to park downtown and you have to pay $2 an hour plus wherever you park.

Searsport Shores Oceanfront Campground, Searsport, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in early October and got the off season rate 1 row back of the beach. Very quiet and pleasant. Spent a few nice moments sitting talking with the owner as she worked on her loom. Camp wifi OK good ATT reception and 6 channels of OTA tv. We first camped here 12 years ago and wanted to return for the great atmosphere. If you stay and like lobster try Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast, excellent. We camped at Searsport Shores Oceanfront Campground in a Motorhome.

Knight's HideAway Campground, Ridgefield, Ontario

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Not a bad park, some really big pull thru's that took our 37' rig and toad with lots of room to spare. Pool and laundry on site. Grass with gravel roads and pads, wood decks at each pull thru site. Full hook ups, good OTA tv and our T Mobile phone picked up a strong signal for phone and Internet. Walmart and grocery store not far away, bar/grille across the street. Close to Lake. 30 and 50 amp at pedestal. We camped at Knight's HideAway Campground in a Motorhome.

Clear Spring COE, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Such a quiet and picturesque place. Deer wandering thru the area and the lake just a stroll away. Full hookups for $13 a night with the National Parks Senior Pass.
Be aware that due to the flooding in Texas in 2015 and more heavy rains this spring (2016) the park is partially flooded and all the lakefront sites in the "A" area will be closed until at least December. Stays are being limited to 14 days in any 30. Roads in the park are also closed and a longish diversion (Well Marked} is required to get to the campground. DO NOT take Clear Springs Road off the main road as the railroad crossing will hang up a long RV. We camped at Clear Spring COE in a Motorhome.

Desert Paradise RV Resort, Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Very I mean VERY narrow sites, the camp host had us manoevering for 5 minutes to squeeze between the concrete pad, the water spigot and a tree and we cleared the spigot by 6" when we finished but the branch of the tree was hard up against the side of the rig.
Clean place and very friendly staff. The laundry requires that you buy a $2 card with add ons in $5 increments. There is a $4 a day "Resort Fee" which Encore thinks it's entitled to.
We were meeting up with friends here otherwise I think we might have looked elsewhere. We camped at Desert Paradise RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lake Morena County Park, Campo, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before and enjoyed the country quiet. This trip is the week before the July 4th weekend and it's still quiet. Wild turkey's were running around this morning. The big news is that they are installing sewer and 50 amp service; should be done for the 2016 season. We camped at Lake Morena County Park in a Motorhome.

Foothill Village Resort - an Encore RV Resort, Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

As others have noted this one is right next to the Interstate and Frontage Road and there is constant road noise. The spaces are pretty tight and getting out 36' motorhome between the concrete pad and the hookup box required care. The camp host will bring you to your spot but cannot help with backing into the space. I can't imagine why this is called a "Resort" and charging a $3 a day resort fee is a blatant rip off. Tight spaces, a small pool and spa and 3 shuffleboards isn't resort living in my opinion.

The laundry requires purchase of a card.

We are Thousand Trails members but the discount isn't much, seems like you might get a better deal using Passport America.

Won't be staying here again unless we are meeting up with friends like we are this trip. We camped at Foothill Village Resort - an Encore RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I would rather stay on the West side of Yuma where there are more stores etc. Old Town is a neat area. Fry's supermarket is close to this resort. register for their VIP card, spend $100 shopping there and get another 10c per gallon off their already low gas prices.

Gas in Yuma is around 50c a gallon cheaper than the cheapest gas in California so make sure you fill up in Yuma before crossing the state line.

Sundance 1 RV Resort (Active Adult park), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a gated 55+ community with many permanent park models. The visiting RV area is half asphalt and half gravel, kind of between 2 roads but very convenient for the activities center and all the many craft rooms. We stayed 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years and had a fantastic time. There is so much to do it's hard to keep track. They have just opened (Dec 2014) a new sports area at the rear of the park with many excellent facilitied for Pickle Ball (8 courts), Shuffleboard, horse Shoes, Boche Ball. there is even an asphalt paved RC Car race track!

Bring a bicycle to get around, the park is nice and flat.

The whole place is extremely clean and well landscaped.

everyone we met was friendly and welcoming.

If you have an RV over 10 years old call them before you get here. We camped at Sundance 1 RV Resort (Active Adult park) in a Motorhome.

Dateland RV Park, Dateland, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The other reviews must have been written by the owners as this "park" is right next to the railroad tracks and about 1/2 mile from I-8. There is NOTHING in Dateland except a Gas Station and an RV park and the gas station owners own the RV Park. We stopped here for repairs when our rig broke down on I-8 but I couldn't see any other reason except desperation for stopping here. A one night stop for a break maybe, but it's only 50 miles from Yuma and Gila Bend so a little planning could save some major disappointment. It was very clean though!! We camped at Dateland RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails / Pio Pico, Jamul, California

Date of Stay: November, 2014
Overall Rating:

We have camped at this park several times this year. As other reviewers have noted there is a North Side and a South Side to this park. Expect to be in the North Side during the summer unless you get there mid week. There is a "Roll Over" system where you can put your name down for a full hook up site on the South Side when somebody else leaves. There may be several people on the list so your name goes in a draw. The North side has no sewer hookups. AT&T reception is available at the fare end of the North Side. There is no pool on the North Side. If you are there in the spring, fall, and winter you stand a much better chance of getting a full hookup site on the South Side where all the facilities are. Dell reception is available around the adult pool area. The adult pool is nice, clean roomy and a hot tub. We got reasonable TV reception with an antenna on both sides of the park. They recently commissioned a new Wi-Fi system throughout the park, pay as you go, we didn't try it, as our At&T hotspot was working fine. In the 5 times we've been here this year the water has gone off twice and the power twice. Also every time we have camped here the water filter has been blocked with silt by the time we were ready to leave. Gets kind of expensive if you use high dollar filters. Lots of places to see in San Diego. Shopping in Rancho San Diego close by. Brody's Bar restaurant a couple of miles away in Jamul has around 20 draft beers and burgers are good. The True Value hardware store in Jamul has EVERYTHING you need. We camped at Thousand Trails / Pio Pico in a .
