Ohiopyle State Park, Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is another great state park. We went there to visit Falling Water which is close by. Then we discovered we could go to the 9/11 Memorial only about an hour away. Also discovered many other things to do in the area which we didn't have time to take in. Park is quite remote and a little difficult to access, but well worth the effort. We didn't heed to warning about the one route which is very steep and not recommended, so be warned - it IS steep. Also, as is many time the case with state parks, it is dry camping, but we did have 50 amp service - surprise! We camped at Ohiopyle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday Hill Campground, Springwater, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a "find" for anyone who wants to explore the Finger Lakes area of New York. It is a quiet, well-maintained park that has been around for many years. There is a caution about getting to the park because of the steep hills in the area, but once there you will be glad you made the trip. Sites are spacious and many are shaded. It is also not that far from Corning Glass Works and the city of Rochester which has the George Eastman House and many other places of interest. (We used to live in the area so we may be a little prejudice) :-) We camped at Holiday Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lums Pond State Park, Bear, Delaware

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park. It is off the highway so there is no traffic noise and there are lots of trees. The entry was a little hard to find - it is on the South side of the park. We were there mid-week so the park was practically empty. Sites are spacious and shaded. There are not many options for RV parks in DE, but we thought this was a good "find". We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a few miles from historic Williamsburg, but not so far that it is a problem. The front part of the park is shaded, but the back where we were was open and sunny and it was quite hot during our stay. It appears that the back part is an expansion. They had a nice pool which we did not use because we were sightseeing all days we were there. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

So much to do and see in the Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown area - plan to stay as long as you can to take it all in. A day in each place is a must.

Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Park was nice; friendly, helpful staff, escort to our site which I have come to expect from KOA's . Pool was large and very welcome after the day of travel. It got crowded on Friday for the weekend event they had planned, but we left on Saturday, so it was not a problem. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Hot Springs National Park KOA, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is VERY hilly. They had an escort to our site and he also assisted us with backing in which was a benefit because it was very tight. This was a holiday weekend so the park was full, but still it was quiet. A nice setting with lots of trees. We camped at Hot Springs National Park KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

When you arrive, the front part of the park looks very nice, but then we were led to our site (a feature I always like) and it was in the back part, which wasn't treed and looked like it had just been added on as an after-thought. We only spent one night there so it wasn't really a problem. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here before many years ago. Not much has changed since then. It is your basic RV park and good for what we did which was only an overnight stay. It is convenient - right off I-40. Camping World is right next door. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails-Long Beach/NACO, Seaview, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This park is your typical Thousand Trails park--old, run-down, crowded. We were Thousand Trails members for about 10 years until we finally just canceled our membership. We recently received a promotional membership when we purchased our new RV. So we thought we would try them again. NO GO! The memberships might be OK for some people, but definitely not for us. They really need to update and improve their properties. We camped at Thousand Trails-Long Beach/NACO in a Fifth Wheel.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park was a big disappointment. We wanted to camp in the National Park, but this was just a big 'parking lot' near the Lodge at Sol Duc. Sites are so close together that you can barely step out of your RV without stepping on cords/hoses of your neighbor. Yes, you could use the pool/hot baths, but it would have cost us (Senior citizens) $18/day. We camped at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is the way all RV parks should be. It is clean, very well-kept, full-service, reasonably priced with friendly, helpful staff. We only stayed over-night, but would definitely stay there again. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
