Hartwick Highlands Campground, Cooperstown, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights in a 43' motorhome to visit Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Easy drive on US-28 from I-88. Better to use Seminary rd. to enter CG instead of Burke Hill Rd. Arrived after 5pm and owner was waiting for us and escorted to site-FHU PT, level, gravel, easy to navigate. Took care of payment next day. Family run CG, very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful CG with open spaces and wooded areas. Utilities worked well. Lots of room to walk. Great dog park with doogie bags. Small office with essentials. Clean facilities-used washing machines. Pool closed, end of season, CG is seasonal and closes in Oct. When in this area will stay here again. We camped at Hartwick Highlands Campground in a Motorhome.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Natural Bridge, Natural Bridge Station, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights over the weekend in a 43' motorhome. Used as base to visit local area. Exit from I-81 to CG is approximately 7 miles over a winding road, but manageable. CG is divided by main road. Check-in/office/pool, rec. hall, etc. and some sites on one side on paved roads. Our site is on the other side, over partly paved, gravel road up on the hill. Escorted to our site, U130, FHU PT, level, gravel/grass with fire ring and picnic table with views of the mountains. All utilities worked well including cable. ATT cell service was spotty at best. Many seasonal activities over the weekends geared to families. CG decorated for Halloween. Easy to visit Lexington/ VMI. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Natural Bridge in a Motorhome.

Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights to visit NYC in a 43' motorhome. We were hesitant about getting in to park and location but surprisingly easy to get to park from xpressway. Check-in was easy and friendly. Interior road paved easy to navigate. Our site was angled, 20' wide, 45' long, level, small gravel with W/E at rear. A dump station is in the first row at the rear of the park. Security is 24/7, locked gates and fenced all around yet easy to walkout to walk your dog. The park is in a upscale neighborhood location with NYC ferry parking for NJ commuters and a Marina complex with expensive yachts. Easy to walk dog along Marina. The PATH train to NYC is approx. 10 blocks to Grove St. station. The walk on Marin Blvd. is surprisingly easy. We felt safe at all hours of the day. The area has numerous restaurants, businesses including Jersey City, City Hall 4 blocks away on Marin Blvd. The PATH train(Green or Yellow) will take you into lower or midtown Manhattan and costs $2.75 each way. The initial Metro card costs $2, you then reload as necessary and can be used on the PATH, NYC Subway/busses. Liberty Park is 5min. south and faces lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. It can be walked but we chose to do it by car at sunset giving a spectacular view in daylight, dusk and evening. The park is full of families on weekend picnics. There is so much to do in NYC that the lack of sewer and park amenities is insignificant. We were out morning till evening and restaurants are numerous. We did not have enough time to do all there is and will return to visit NYC. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 4 nights to attend the Hershey RV show and Hershey Chocolate Factory. Follow the KOA sign, turn right, at junction N. Hanover & N. Market St. and avoid going thru town. Check-in confusing due to new work camper manning check-in. Owner/wife took care of situation and made it right. Family run CG with great customer service skills. CG is in a beautiful location in great shape, clean, mowed/fertilized grass, utilities and cable worked well. Garbage pickup onsite. Road leading up to registration is paved. Interior roads are easy to navigate with a 43' motorhome, gravel and well maintained. Our site was in a terraced area, PT FHU, gravel, with fire ring, picnic table and level in partial shade with good spacing. CG offers a free shuttle to RV show and Hershey factory with several morning and evening departures and pickups. Pool was closed for season. Did not use bath facilities but looked clean. Would stay here again rather than closer to Show or factory. We camped at Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA in a Motorhome.

Tompkins COE, Tioga, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on-off from xpressway. Beautiful setting. Taking the long way around the reservoir, make a RH turn at bottom of xpressway exit, gives you a spectacular view and the road is freshly paved, wide and easy to navigate. Staff very friendly and helpful. When arrived the office was empty. Spoke to ranger on phone who informed us to go directly to site and volunteers would catch up and register later. The roads and sites are paved and easy to navigate our 43' motorhome. The volunteers helped us move from one site to another because we could not level. The site we ended up on, #25 FHU back-in, was beautiful with partial shade but our rear tires still came off the ground about 8". We leveled manually and were able to keep all tires on the ground but were not level front-to-back. Obviously when building the sites a lot of effort was put into each site except leveling the sites. We didn't find one site that was level in the park. The distance between sites is spacious and grassy. All utilities worked well. Plenty of room to walk your dog. The location of the park is great to visit Corning, NY. We camped at Tompkins COE in a Motorhome.

Cedar Creek COE, Mt Juliet, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 5 nights with a 43' motorhome to visit Nashville and Opry. Our rate reflects America the Beautiful pass. Easy to get to CG, approx. 10mi from I-40. Easy check-in. Interior roads paved and easy to navigate. Our site #3, partly shade in the front loop and level with small gravel sitting on a sandy base. When it rained the site drained but was muddy. Good spacing between sites. Sites along river have a lot more space between them. Utilities E/W worked well - no sewer. Dump station at rear of park. Need to make a U-turn and go up slight incline to position to dump but manageable. Trash needs to be taken to the dumpster at the front by the bathhouse. Each site has a fire ring and table. Bathhouse (did not use) were clean but showers needs some attention to moldy curtains. Beautiful park with lots of shade and open fields bordering the Cumberland River. Grassy fields were in good shape with lots of room to walk your dog. Very peaceful, tranquil setting. You can watch the ships moving barges in the river and enjoy the view. Outside the park down the road is the Cedar Creek Marina where you can have lunch or rent a boat to cruise on the river. Nashville is about 15mi away. We camped at Cedar Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Barton Springs Campground-Normandy Reservoir, Normandy, Tennessee

Overall Rating:

Stayed here two nights. Exit 105 on I-24 and take signs to Normandy Dam. Check-in is easy and camp hosts are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Paved interior roads easy to navigate and gravel sites. Our site PT faced the water with partial shade and is not level but manageable. Water and electric worked well. Zero (ATT) reception. A lot of green space with oak trees and pines to walk your dog. Most sites are occupied by locals with trailers and 5th wheels that reserve for thru the summer season. Very elaborate setups with canopies, outdoor furniture, smokers, etc. Everything is neat and clean. Boats are available thru the CG and locals bring their boats and park them on the shoreline. Jolly Roger Travel Park, Marathon, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park on MM59 in Marathon, FL. Check-in was fast and easy. Staff met us at coach...no need to go into office. Reviewed details and had best route for our size rig to take to site. Big rig friendly. Our coach is 43'. Paved interior roads easy to navigate. We visited with our daughter and 2 granddaughters and friends in adjacent site for one week. Easy in-out to US1. Good central location in middle keys. We were in site H2, pull-in site, on the seawall that had a hard packed sand and grass surface with a paver patio and new picnic table. We faced west with spectacular views of the sunset. Every evening was a different picture at dinner time and we looked forward to each sunset. We also had the marina and fishing pier at our doorstep. The kids fished morning till dark. Two hundred feet north on the seawall is the swimming area with a floating dock, that you can kayak or float. All utilities were excellent, including cable. Many of our neighbors had boats which they docked in front of their coaches. The sites are a mix. To the south and middle are roomy big rig sites with smaller sites mixed in. The pool is excellent in the middle of the park and has numerous umbrellas that shade in and out of the pool with many chaise lounges. Large roomy dog park with doggie bags and open spaces adjacent to US1 to walk dogs. Many restaurants within 15 minute drive. We will return already planning next year. Stayed here one week at the weekly rate. Easy on-off from I-17. Check-in staff was very courteous and informative. Escort to site and assist with parking. All roads are paved and easy to navigate. Our site (#47) was a concrete pull-in site with grass along the front and faced north to the mountains. We had a nice pine tree to our left side that gave us shade in the afternoon but did not block our satellite. All utilities and cable worked well. The site is double wide and you park your car next to the rig. There is a dog park with doggy bags provided. Thrash is picked up each day in the AM. The grounds are immaculate and common areas are a combination of small pebbles and grass that are raked and cleaned every time a new guest checks-in. During our stay the CG has numerous events for the guests free-of-charge. One night there was a Indian tribal dance and buffet. Another evening they had Indian craft making. They have a pool, hot tub and library. The laundry room is immaculate as are the showers. The CG gives you a $15 coupon/person to use at the Casino. When in this area again we will stay here. Great place for lunch. The Italian Bistro - converted old gas station serves the best oven fired pizza.

We visited the Grand Canyon for the day using the GC railroad which is within walking distance from the CG (5 min). Downtown Williams is within walking distance (10min) and numerous restaurants for B-L-Dinner as well as many gift stores all located along route 66.
