Tompkins COE, Tioga, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on-off from xpressway. Beautiful setting. Taking the long way around the reservoir, make a RH turn at bottom of xpressway exit, gives you a spectacular view and the road is freshly paved, wide and easy to navigate. Staff very friendly and helpful. When arrived the office was empty. Spoke to ranger on phone who informed us to go directly to site and volunteers would catch up and register later. The roads and sites are paved and easy to navigate our 43' motorhome. The volunteers helped us move from one site to another because we could not level. The site we ended up on, #25 FHU back-in, was beautiful with partial shade but our rear tires still came off the ground about 8". We leveled manually and were able to keep all tires on the ground but were not level front-to-back. Obviously when building the sites a lot of effort was put into each site except leveling the sites. We didn't find one site that was level in the park. The distance between sites is spacious and grassy. All utilities worked well. Plenty of room to walk your dog. The location of the park is great to visit Corning, NY. We camped at Tompkins COE in a Motorhome.

Barton Springs Campground-Normandy Reservoir, Normandy, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here two nights. Exit 105 on I-24 and take signs to Normandy Dam. Check-in is easy and camp hosts are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Paved interior roads easy to navigate and gravel sites. Our site PT faced the water with partial shade and is not level but manageable. Water and electric worked well. Zero (ATT) reception. A lot of green space with oak trees and pines to walk your dog. Most sites are occupied by locals with trailers and 5th wheels that reserve for thru the summer season. Very elaborate setups with canopies, outdoor furniture, smokers, etc. Everything is neat and clean. Boats are available thru the CG and locals bring their boats and park them on the shoreline. Great place to get away from everything. We camped at Barton Springs Campground-Normandy Reservoir in a Motorhome.

Jolly Roger Travel Park, Marathon, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park on MM59 in Marathon, FL. Check-in was fast and easy. Staff met us at coach...no need to go into office. Reviewed details and had best route for our size rig to take to site. Big rig friendly. Our coach is 43'. Paved interior roads easy to navigate. We visited with our daughter and 2 granddaughters and friends in adjacent site for one week. Easy in-out to US1. Good central location in middle keys. We were in site H2, pull-in site, on the seawall that had a hard packed sand and grass surface with a paver patio and new picnic table. We faced west with spectacular views of the sunset. Every evening was a different picture at dinner time and we looked forward to each sunset. We also had the marina and fishing pier at our doorstep. The kids fished morning till dark. Two hundred feet north on the seawall is the swimming area with a floating dock, that you can kayak or float. All utilities were excellent, including cable. Many of our neighbors had boats which they docked in front of their coaches. The sites are a mix. To the south and middle are roomy big rig sites with smaller sites mixed in. The pool is excellent in the middle of the park and has numerous umbrellas that shade in and out of the pool with many chaise lounges. Large roomy dog park with doggie bags and open spaces adjacent to US1 to walk dogs. Many restaurants within 15 minute drive. We will return already planning next year. We camped at Jolly Roger Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Distant Drums RV Resort, Camp Verde, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here one week at the weekly rate. Easy on-off from I-17. Check-in staff was very courteous and informative. Escort to site and assist with parking. All roads are paved and easy to navigate. Our site (#47) was a concrete pull-in site with grass along the front and faced north to the mountains. We had a nice pine tree to our left side that gave us shade in the afternoon but did not block our satellite. All utilities and cable worked well. The site is double wide and you park your car next to the rig. There is a dog park with doggy bags provided. Thrash is picked up each day in the AM. The grounds are immaculate and common areas are a combination of small pebbles and grass that are raked and cleaned every time a new guest checks-in. During our stay the CG has numerous events for the guests free-of-charge. One night there was a Indian tribal dance and buffet. Another evening they had Indian craft making. They have a pool, hot tub and library. The laundry room is immaculate as are the showers. The CG gives you a $15 coupon/person to use at the Casino. When in this area again we will stay here. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 5 days. Check-in was smooth and staff were very courteous and informative. They have a fantastic on-site dog resort located within the registration building. It is very clean, A/C, indoor-outdoor facility. Reminds us of the Disney World Best Friends facility in Buena Vista. The CG roads are paved as are the sites. The common areas are all crushed stones - no grass for walking our dog (only drawback). The CG is immaculate and has a walking/dog trail along the perimeter of the park with doggy bags provided. All utilities and cable worked well. The laundry room, comfort station are secured with an electronic code and looked spotless (we did not use).If passing through this area again we will stay here. Great place for lunch. The Italian Bistro - converted old gas station serves the best oven fired pizza.

We visited the Grand Canyon for the day using the GC railroad which is within walking distance from the CG (5 min). The train leaves at 915am and prior to that they have a cowboy shootout skit next door in a mock town. The train station ticket office has breakfast available and a gift store. Downtown Williams is within walking distance (10min) and numerous restaurants for B-L-Dinner as well as many gift stores all located along route 66.

Seaside Resort, Thousand Trails , Seaside, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

First time staying at a TT park. We stayed here in a 43' motorhome using a promotional offer. Check in is at the front guard gate and your told to find your own site. The CG is extensive and we finally found a vacant site in the last loop. We noticed that many sites were empty but had a white plastic chain across the front. Later we learned that these are seasonal owners. The road in is paved but the loops are large gravel. No cable and our site backed into huge trees blocking our satellite reception. All we had was OTA TV. All our neighbors were permanent and had trailers or 5th wheels permanently parked on their sites. We woke up the next day to the sound lawn mowers to find our next door neighbor mowing their grass. There is a nice heated indoor pool and recreation area but overall the park needs maintenance. We would not stay here again. We camped at Seaside Resort, Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Mt Hood Village RV Resort, Welches, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first experience with an Encore park. Stayed here 5 days using a free promotional offer. We were visiting Oregon and selected this park as a home base for the Mt Hood and Columbia River Gorge area. Easy to find from Hwy 26. Check in was efficient and staff was courteous. The facilities: pool, office, store, clubhouse and onsite restaurant are very nice. The park is extensive. No escort to site. We were in the VM loop. Interior road is paved but site is a mix of gravel/dirt. The site is overgrown with vegetation with an area just clear enough to fit our 43' motorhome. The drop off from the asphalt into the site is about 6" at our site. The site starts uphill then levels out with a slight lean left to right. Tricky backing in. Our power box was held on by electrical tape that was wrapped around it making it functional. Utilities worked fine. Cable was marginal and satellite was impossible due to canopy. Our site had a fire ring/grill with trash that needed cleaning. As we can drove in we noticed trash dumpsters along the side of the loop. In front of our site we had two dumpsters making it very unsightly. The CG sites/loops are neglected and need maintenance. Other sites have the same appearance. No doggy park. The location is great for visiting many local attractions: Timberline Lodge, Mirror Lake, the Gorge, waterfalls, many hiking trails and the town of Sandy, etc. If we had to pay for the site we would not stay here but the location is great. We camped at Mt Hood Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed in a 43' motorhome to visit the Redwoods. Park is easy to find from Hwy 101. Check in is in the gift shop and was fast and efficient. Staff was very friendly and helpful about area attractions. No assigned sites. You have to find your own. Park has an easy layout so it is easy to find a site. No dog park but ample space to walk your dog on grass. You are among the Redwoods. No cable. we used our satellite. Location is in the middle of the Ave of the Giants making it easy to visit the Redwoods. Other than the forest there is nothing else going on here. This is a small, clean park. Very friendly, helpful manager. The park is easy in/out from Hwy 50. Paved roads and concrete pads, no grass but have artificial turf and sand. Sites are very close. Utilities are fine. Fenced in dog park all sand. Walked our dog across the street at local Casino that has grass. We stayed 2 nights to visit Virginia City which is about 8 miles away. We stayed here in a 43' motorhome on site #30 which is a double front to front facing site right at the entrance. We had the site all to ourselves which made easy pulling and exit.
