Grand Island KOA, Doniphan, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here twice on our trip; heading out and heading home as it is very convenient off Interstate 80. The first night we arrived after the office closed, but they had all of the paperwork ready for us at the check-in board. Our site was easy to get into and level. We didn't even bother to unhook our tow vehicle. The second night we arrived during the afternoon and had a someone guide us to our site which was nestled between two trees. It would not work for trailer with slide-outs, but was perfect for us. We would stay here again. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

AB Camping & RV Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here because the KOA was full. The campground met our needs as we were just driving through, but we would not stay here for a long period because there were no amenities. The map shows the outside sites as angled, but they are straight back which makes it more challenging with a trailer. We needed to use a LOT of blocks to get the trailer even reasonably level. The had a cable connection, but we could not receive any channels with it. We camped at AB Camping & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pony Express RV Resort, North Salt Lake, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The park is on the north side of SLC. Very convenient to shopping (e.g. grocery, Target, Walmart, Costco) and many of the attractions to see in the city. Very close to the interstate highways, so there some road noise. However, when inside our camper it didn't bother us. The sites are concrete pads (and not quite level either) with asphalt roads. The sites are VERY close together and the many of the sites are very short. We had a 27 foot travel trailer and it just fit. We could not park our tow vehicle at our site (we were warned when making the reservation this would be the case) and had to park it in one of the overflow guest parking lots. The vehicle parking areas are also very tight and getting in and out was challenging. Fortunately, in our case our neighbors were accommodating and moved their vehicles to give me more room to exit. Despite the crowded conditions, the campground charges a reasonable rate and is very convenient to SLC attractions. The bathrooms were completely private (e.g. sink, toilet, and shower.) The campground is security controlled with gates on the road and combo locks on all bathrooms. The campground seemed secure, safe, and well lit. There is a oil refinery close to the campground. However, the prevailing winds are from the west and the refinery is to the east, so it was rare for us to smell anything from it. We would stay here again. We camped at Pony Express RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Olympic Park is a nice place to visit and worth the 1/2 day or so to travel there and tour the park. We also saw their ski jump show which was totally worth it.

The Riverside Ranch (formerly Riverside Resort & RV Park), Hatch, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is under new ownership. The hosts are great (parents of the owner) and were very helpful with directions, places to see, roads to travel, access to ice, etc. The power, water, and sewer connections are all new; they are also spaced at double of their former spacing. The result is that each camper has lots of elbow room. The water tasted good. The bathrooms are dated and in need of some updating. However, with full hookups, that was less of an issue. There are no other amenities at the campground, but we were there for the national parks and not camping. The campground is about 12 minutes from Bryce Canyon NP. It is very easy to get around the campground and the sites are huge. We saw a big diesel pusher with a toad that was able to fit into a pull thru without a problem. We would stay here again. We camped at The Riverside Ranch (formerly Riverside Resort & RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Moab KOA, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Our understanding is the KOA is under new ownership. The new pool area is new and was open for only a month when we visited. They have a huge new two-level pool and a large in-ground spa. Both were excellent and are a huge relief to relax in after a long day of hiking in the heat and sun. The bathrooms have individual stalls for showers and toilets. We used the laundry room which was very nice with nice washers and dryers that worked well. The water from the tap tasted better than bottled water. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Moab KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is on the far south side of Moab. There are many campgrounds in Moab and we drove by many of them each morning on our way to Arches NP or Canyonlands NP. Many of them are much more crowded than the KOA. We shopped at the City Market grocery store several times during our 4 day stay. It is a good grocery store with reasonable prices. They even had numerous gulten free items which we needed for our son.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

The park is just outside Estes Park which makes it convenient for visiting RM NP. The campground backs up onto the side of a hill and the sites are very close together. At our site, there was no over the air TV or radio. No cell phone reception except by walking to the end of the campground highest on the hill. No data service. Campground has wifi for accessing weather and Facebook only. Even that service was very slow and unreliable. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes in a Travel Trailer.

Teton Valley RV Park, Victor, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit Jackson Hole, Teton Valley, and the Grand Tetons National Park. The campground is undergoing a serious renovation with new asphalt paving, new cabins going up, wifi tower installations, etc. A lot of this construction was going on while we stayed here, but it didn't start before 8:00 AM and was always finished by 5:00 PM. There isn't much in Victor, so we suggest buying your supplies before you arrive. We camped at Teton Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to West Yellowstone. The campground is more like a resort than a typical campground. All of the roads are asphalt and each site is concrete with a concrete patio. Some may think it is a bit too sterile, but we really liked it. First, we our trailer was perfectly level and second with everything being either paved or grass our trailer stayed very clean. We were on a 16 day trip and this was our favorite campground in terms of amenities, cleanliness, and space. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Irvington Campground and RV Park, Menomonie, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is for both seasonal sites or overnight campers. We camped while our daughter attended orientation and registration at UW Stout. The campground is about 10 minutes from campus which is very convenient. There really aren't any extra amenities, but we didn't need any as we just needed a place to park our trailer. Restrooms and showers were clean. Site surface is dirt and grass, and offered some shade. We camped at Irvington Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit Devil's Tower. The campground is at the base of the park and the park gate is right outside the campground. You can not get any closer to the park and still be outside. The view of the tower from the campground is incredible and we very much enjoyed it. The campground, like the park, is in the middle of nowhere so there is no road noise and you can see many stars in the sky that we could never see at home in the city. Our site was a huge pull through which had far more space than we needed. However, the hooks up were poorly located as they were near the very front on the site by the tow vehicle. We had to use three water hoses and a 25 ft extension cord along with our trailer cord. We didn't even try to hook up the sewer and just waited until morning. In the morning, we pulled the trailer forward with the truck now in the road and then dumped the tanks. It was OK for one night, but I would not be happy with this site if I was staying for several days and really expected to have a full hook up site. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is the place to stay if you want to be very close to the park. We hiked around the tower in the evening after supper. That worked out well for us because the sun was lower in the sky with better colors on the rock, and it was a bit cooler.

Osens RV Park & Campground, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on the way home as all of the campgrounds in Bozeman area were full. We got one of the very last sites available and checked in just before the office closed. Our site was a back-in, but there was a lot of room on both sides with no obstructions. It was a big site too and we had about 20 feet extra in our site. We camped at Osens RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA, Hot Springs, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit the Black Hills and Hot Springs. The campground is very hilly, but our site itself was flat and level. It is right off Highway 79, but there was no road noise inside our trailer. We had lots of tall pine trees around us, so we had lots of shade. The site was mostly dirt however with some gravel. We stayed here for two nights. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rochester / Marion KOA, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way home. The campground is easy to get to and yet far enough off the interstate to avoid all the traffic noise. We had a back in site, but the site behind us was open so the host just had us drive through. We didn't even bother to unhook our tv, so we would be ready to leave in the morning a little faster. The main office and showers are across the street from most of the camping sites. It is an odd configuration, but the street is a quiet residential street with no real traffic on it. We camped at Rochester / Marion KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Billings KOA, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to West Yellowstone. Montana is a sparsely populated state, so there aren't many campgrounds along the interstate expect near the larger cities. This KOA is the first and oldest. The bathrooms/showers by the main office are brand new and very nice. The others are old. We took our showers at night and good thing because there was a very long line in the morning to use the bathrooms and the showers. We used the hot tub and that was a mistake because we ended up with a body rash afterwards. We will never do that again. The campground is on the south side of Billings and when the wind blows just right you get pretty strong odors from all of the oil refineries in the area. We didn't like the smell at all and it really detracted from the overall experience. That is not a factor the campground can control of course, but just be mindful if you are sensitive to smells. We thought the campground was overpriced considering the general condition of the place and the smells. We very likely would not camp in Billings again and we stay somewhere else to avoid the smells from the refineries. We camped at Billings KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is very convenient to the West entrance of Yellowstone NP. The campground is located right on the south edge of the city/village and is very convenient. You can easily walk to the post office, grocery stores, shops, restaurants, etc. The visitor center is about four blocks away. Our site was gravel, but was level side to side and front to back, so no leveling blocks were needed and it was very easy to disconnect and connect our trailer from our tow vehicle. The don't have enough showers for the number of campers they have, but nearly all sites are full hook up so they might expect people to use the showers in the campers. One note, the drinking water here is amazing. Very likely the water comes from snow melt on the mountains or something. Anyway, the tap water tastes like expensive bottled water and is crystal clear. Note that even in summer it can get quite cold at night, so be prepared for some temperature extremes. We were there four days at the temps ranged from the low 70's at noon to 32 at night with snow. The park ranger told me that is pretty normal for June in the Yellowstone area because the air is both thin and dry. If we return to Yellowstone again, then we will plan to stay here again. Note: We had to make reservations in March to have a camping spot in June. All of the campgrounds get to be very busy, so reserve early. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
