Teton Valley RV Park, Victor, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit Jackson Hole, Teton Valley, and the Grand Tetons National Park. The campground is undergoing a serious renovation with new asphalt paving, new cabins going up, wifi tower installations, etc. A lot of this construction was going on while we stayed here, but it didn't start before 8:00 AM and was always finished by 5:00 PM. There isn't much in Victor, so we suggest buying your supplies before you arrive. We camped at Teton Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to West Yellowstone. The campground is more like a resort than a typical campground. All of the roads are asphalt and each site is concrete with a concrete patio. Some may think it is a bit too sterile, but we really liked it. First, we our trailer was perfectly level and second with everything being either paved or grass our trailer stayed very clean. We were on a 16 day trip and this was our favorite campground in terms of amenities, cleanliness, and space. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Irvington Campground and RV Park, Menomonie, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is for both seasonal sites or overnight campers. We camped while our daughter attended orientation and registration at UW Stout. The campground is about 10 minutes from campus which is very convenient. There really aren't any extra amenities, but we didn't need any as we just needed a place to park our trailer. Restrooms and showers were clean. Site surface is dirt and grass, and offered some shade. We camped at Irvington Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Devils Tower KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit Devil's Tower. The campground is at the base of the park and the park gate is right outside the campground. You can not get any closer to the park and still be outside. The view of the tower from the campground is incredible and we very much enjoyed it. The campground, like the park, is in the middle of nowhere so there is no road noise and you can see many stars in the sky that we could never see at home in the city. Our site was a huge pull through which had far more space than we needed. However, the hooks up were poorly located as they were near the very front on the site by the tow vehicle. We had to use three water hoses and a 25 ft extension cord along with our trailer cord. We didn't even try to hook up the sewer and just waited until morning. In the morning, we pulled the trailer forward with the truck now in the road and then dumped the tanks. It was OK for one night, but I would not be happy with this site if I was staying for several days and really expected to have a full hook up site. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is the place to stay if you want to be very close to the park. We hiked around the tower in the evening after supper. That worked out well for us because the sun was lower in the sky with better colors on the rock, and it was a bit cooler.

Osens RV Park & Campground, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on the way home as all of the campgrounds in Bozeman area were full. We got one of the very last sites available and checked in just before the office closed. Our site was a back-in, but there was a lot of room on both sides with no obstructions. It was a big site too and we had about 20 feet extra in our site. We camped at Osens RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hot Springs KOA, Hot Springs, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit the Black Hills and Hot Springs. The campground is very hilly, but our site itself was flat and level. It is right off Highway 79, but there was no road noise inside our trailer. We had lots of tall pine trees around us, so we had lots of shade. The site was mostly dirt however with some gravel. We stayed here for two nights. We camped at Hot Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rochester Marion KOA, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way home. The campground is easy to get to and yet far enough off the interstate to avoid all the traffic noise. We had a back in site, but the site behind us was open so the host just had us drive through. We didn't even bother to unhook our tv, so we would be ready to leave in the morning a little faster. The main office and showers are across the street from most of the camping sites. It is an odd configuration, but the street is a quiet residential street with no real traffic on it. We camped at Rochester Marion KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Billings KOA, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to West Yellowstone. Montana is a sparsely populated state, so there aren't many campgrounds along the interstate expect near the larger cities. This KOA is the first and oldest. The bathrooms/showers by the main office are brand new and very nice. The others are old. We took our showers at night and good thing because there was a very long line in the morning to use the bathrooms and the showers. We used the hot tub and that was a mistake because we ended up with a body rash afterwards. We will never do that again. The campground is on the south side of Billings and when the wind blows just right you get pretty strong odors from all of the oil refineries in the area. We didn't like the smell at all and it really detracted from the overall experience. That is not a factor the campground can control of course, but just be mindful if you are sensitive to smells. We thought the campground was overpriced considering the general condition of the place and the smells. We very likely would not camp in Billings again and we stay somewhere else to avoid the smells from the refineries. We camped at Billings KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is very convenient to the West entrance of Yellowstone NP. The campground is located right on the south edge of the city/village and is very convenient. You can easily walk to the post office, grocery stores, shops, restaurants, etc. The visitor center is about four blocks away. Our site was gravel, but was level side to side and front to back, so no leveling blocks were needed and it was very easy to disconnect and connect our trailer from our tow vehicle. The don't have enough showers for the number of campers they have, but nearly all sites are full hook up so they might expect people to use the showers in the campers. One note, the drinking water here is amazing. Very likely the water comes from snow melt on the mountains or something. Anyway, the tap water tastes like expensive bottled water and is crystal clear. Note that even in summer it can get quite cold at night, so be prepared for some temperature extremes. We were there four days at the temps ranged from the low 70's at noon to 32 at night with snow. The park ranger told me that is pretty normal for June in the Yellowstone area because the air is both thin and dry. If we return to Yellowstone again, then we will plan to stay here again. Note: We had to make reservations in March to have a camping spot in June. All of the campgrounds get to be very busy, so reserve early. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Jackson KOA, Jackson, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we have stayed here on our way out West. The campground is very convenient off the interstate and yet doesn't experience a ton of noise either. The staff are very helpful in getting people to their site and answering any questions about the area. They have a pool that we didn't use, but it was very popular with kids in the campground. Most of the sites are pull through which is very convenient. We camped at Jackson KOA in a Travel Trailer.

West Bay Camping Resort, Rhinelander, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here four nights when attending the Rhinelander School of the Arts. We didn't really like the campground, but it was close to Rhinelander and convenient for the workshops. The host was friendly.

There are two shower houses. The remote shower house was dirty and all of the knobs on the showers had been removed. The only shower in the campground that worked was in the basement of the main office. Fortunately, we had full hookups and used our own shower instead.

The roads are tight, dusty, and rough. Our site was challenging to get into with a 28 foot trailer and was very uneven. We had to use nearly three boxes of leveling blocks to get the trailer level side to side. The trees are very dense which makes parking challenging, but then there is lots of nice shade which was a fair trade-off.

We would not normally stay at a campground like this one, but it was the best option in the area to attend the workshops. We may look around more before next year's workshops. We camped at West Bay Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Des Moines West KOA, Adel, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for four nights again. We stayed here earlier for two nights. This is our preferred campground when visiting the Des Moines area. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They have a pool that we didn't use, but was very popular with guests. Very kid friendly with lots of things for them to do. We had full hookups and power was great even during two thunderstorms. Water pressure was 60 psi. Our site was gravel, but smooth and level. We also had a picnic table and firepit.

The bathrooms were very nice and modern with no cost showers. The bathroom was air conditioned which we really appreciated when it was 96 degrees outside.

There is NO highway, train, or airport noise which is unusual for a KOA. The campground is 1.6 miles off the interstate.

We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Des Moines West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Emerald Beach RV Park, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Rate includes fees, Good Sam, and taxes. We stayed two nights because we wanted to be close to Navarre Beach Park. The sites are very tight and short. I had to pull through another site to back into our site. Had the other site been occupied already, I do not know how I would have backed into our site. We didn't spend much time in the campground itself as we were at the beach most of the day. The main highway in front of the campground is very busy, so patience is needed getting out. There are numerous department stores and grocery stores along the main road to pick from. The Navarre Beach is a real hidden gem in Florida. The water is warm and shallow. The sand is white and clean. There are lifeguards from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. My teenage kids loved it! We camped at Emerald Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate includes tax and Good Sam discount. We were driving through and only stayed one night. We were in site # 19 which overlooked the River/Lake. We loved our location, the view, and the quiet. The campground is at the edge of town less than 1/2 mile by road to Walmart and a number of other stores. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
