Helena Campground and RV Park, Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We did wind up getting a free night after staying for 6, as we wound up staying here a week because of motorhome issues. Would never have chosen this as a week's destination; initially thought we were only staying 2 nights to visit the area and it was quite convenient to shopping considering we had to be here for so long. Did not tour the whole campground but I think there were several/many long term folks as I saw monthly bills on the desk in the office. It's only saving grace was that we had 50 amp service and full hookups while getting our motorhome issues managed. The lady in the office (when she was there) was quite friendly and helpful as we needed some major cleaning done inside our rig. She claims new owners have taken over and improvements will be made this Fall. Private shower stalls looked quite nice although we did not use them. Laundry facilities were filthy and ancient. Went to a laundromat up the road instead. Sites are very close together - we couldn't open awnings or use a picnic table which was falling apart anyway. Landscaping was non-existent. I would never come back here. We camped at Helena Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big Sky Camp and RV Park, Miles City, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground right off I-94 but no noise from highway at all. Sites are a little narrow but you park one rig one way, the other the other way. Inground pool (!), playground, level sites, new picnic tables. Convenient to town about 3 miles and it's much larger than we thought. WalMart, Albertsons, fast food and loads of nice restaurants. We are not museum lovers, but the Range Riders Museum has more memorabilia than anywhere other than the Smithsonian and is well worth a visit. We camped at Big Sky Camp and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek RV Park, Seward, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

After we booked this park we saw some bad reviews; i.e., watch out for the RR crossing, bad roads, 'parking lot atmosphere', etc., but we were pleasantly surprised to find a gem outside Seward. Quiet, spacious sites, full hookups and only about 5 miles to town. We checked out the RV sites on the water for $20/night with no hookups and decided this park was worth the nightly fee for full hookups. Pay no attention to the comments about the road in off the highway - evidently the road has been repaired. Kind of not so nice structures on the way in but don't let them deter you. The park is very nice. Follow your GPS - 4 turns and you're there. Pleasant staff at check in as well as on the phone when the reservation was made. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park), Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This park recently became a KOA. We normally avoid KOA parks but we'd already made a reservation here so we stayed. Owners are very accommodating and the location outside of town was great. Other RV parks in the area are on pavement, in town, and look like parking lots so we liked this one better as it's rustic. Good stop. Pull-throughs are kind of tight but 50 amp service makes up for that. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Gold Trail RV Park, Clinton, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Sites weren't bad but the rest of the park was a dump. The owner is quite rude (although he thinks he's funny). His idea of a buffet was some warmed over leftovers in crock pots which we weren't allowed to look at until our meat of choice was cooked and served. Road kill ribs is his specialty but my husband tried them and said they were pretty awful. Owners live in an upscale Newmar RV but the area around the 'office' was a dump. He looked at our choice of diet Pepsi and commented "I guess it doesn't work" (meaning our weight). When I started posting on my phone, he came over and told me that was not allowed; if I wanted to act like a child then he'd treat me like one. There were no other customers there - - and rightly so. SKIP THIS PLACE ! There are others nearby. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

The town of Clinton offers absolutely nothing other than a grocery store I wouldn't go in and two 'flea market' type stores. Quite ugly. Drive through and don't stop.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Hobe Sound, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park with lots of outdoor things to do - bike trails, boat/canoe/kayak rentals, walking trails. RV park is mostly open with little to no shade as they lost all their trees in a hurricane many years ago. Sites are well spaced gravel, with picnic tables/BBQ. We camped at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in a Motorhome.

Ortona South COE, Moore Haven, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest COE parks in the country. Pleasantly surprised to happen upon this park when all others were filled over the Thanksgiving weekend. Immaculate grounds and watching the boats go through the lock is interesting. Wide sites, paved parking for the RV, very nice covered picnic table and well maintained landscaping throughout. Only drawback is there are no sewers but there is a dump station. We camped at Ortona South COE in a Motorhome.

The Chamber of Commerce in the nearby town of Clewiston offers tours of the sugar cane and orange industries in their town. Very, very interesting. Golf is nearby at The Glades RV Resort.

Fairmont RV Park, Anaconda, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Could not drink the water as they had found e.coli in it previously. Had to wait for clean bill of health and cleaning out of system which didn't happen while we were there. Fortunately we had enough of water in our holding tank to last us for the 4 days we were there. Situated nicely next door to Fairmont Hot Springs Resort where we played a challenging game of golf. Did not take advantage of the hot springs. Laundry was clean. Sites were not level and we had to try 3 sites before we could get comfortably parked. We felt it was overpriced. We camped at Fairmont RV Park in a Motorhome.

Elks Lodge #1181, Bremerton, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nice location, gravel surface, sites not too spacious but we had no one on either side of us for the 3 nights we stayed there. A couple of non-Elks groups used the picnic facilities adjacent to the RV parking but they were gone by dark. Friendly staff in lodge. Water and electric at site but no dump. Couldn't get level on Site #9 so chose #8 instead. We camped at Elks Lodge #1181 in a Motorhome.

We originally planned on staying just 4 nights but extended it to 7 as there is plenty to do in the area and the RV parking area was nice. Dump is off premises but nearby at a local gas station. This is one of the nicest Elks RV parks we've stayed at. We camped at Elks Lodge #2642 in a Motorhome.

Elks Lodge #1450 (Members Only), Puyallup, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are wide and there is a pool and showers. However, after we got our motorhome leveled off and slide outs extended we discovered that there are NO WATER connections at the sites. All plastic pipes above ground have been broken at each site. Camp Host offered no realistic explanation, nor was there a note in the sign up box to that effect. There is a fresh water spigot near the dump station, but who knew we needed to fill up before setting up ? There are showers available for use but they're not in great shape. We will not return to this Elks Lodge unless the water issue is corrected. We camped at Elks Lodge #1450 (Members Only) in a Motorhome.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park with wonderful amenities. Like a hotel resort. Only reason I give it an 8 rating is because Passport America says they're a participant but the dates changed when PA is honored and we missed the cut off (not mentioned in the PA book). Extreme security which makes one wonder why but even the back in sites "no picnic table, no grass" are nice; actually preferable to us as they're on the perimeter and not squashed in with the interior roads. This is our third visit here but only because it's close to a friends house. We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.
