Peaks of Otter Campground, Blue Ridge Parkway (NPS Campground), Bedford, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2006 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Limited facilities. Ideal for tent camping. Sites too small for many RVs and unlevel. Maintenance is minimal. Sites full of broken limbs/leaves, and in the trailer section erosion and overgrown sites. Grass is cut and comfort stations clean. No showers. No Cell phone and TV coverage. CG usage is less than 50% most all summer. Ranger interpretive programs primarily weekend daytime plus Sat. night. Visitor Center, trails and nearby lodge facilities. Very quiet CG. We camped at Peaks of Otter Campground, Blue Ridge Parkway (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Less expensive CG than others in the area. Very convent to Chautauqua area. 1 mile from NYS boat launch ramp on Chautauqua Lake. Stayed there on 3 occasions. We camped at Camp Prendergast in a Fifth Wheel.

Shipshewana Campground North Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2006 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and well maintained. Without the grand kids we didn't need a lot of entertainment features in CG. Ice cream stand made for nice dessert. Their occupancy is higher on the days when the "flea market" is open. We would stay here again. We camped at Shipshewana Campground North Park in a Fifth Wheel.
