Wagon Train RV Park, Canton, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just off I-20 several miles from Canton. Ask for exit number when you call; depends on which direction you are headed. Have stayed here several times on cross-country trips and will again. New owners are making improvements. No cable and we did not find any over-the-air tv either. Used our wifi hot spot to get Netflix, Amazon, etc however. Usually full around the first Monday of the month due to huge swap meet in Canton at that time. Space generally available other times. We camped at Wagon Train RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, Quanah, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

For being in the middle of nowhere, Texas, this is a very good place to stop for one or a few nights. We stayed here in February a few years ago waiting out a snow storm in Amarillo and again last week. Lots of contractor rigs parked along the outer edge but they save the big pull-thru sites in the middle for the one or a few nighters. Grounds are well kept and improvements being added. Only thing that keeps me from giving it a 10 is the frequent freight trains whistling for a crossing about once per hour. Will stay here again. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is better than most KOAs we have used. Hosts were helpful and sites are fine for mostly gravel lot. Cable was not great but watchable. Easy in and out with nearby cafes and other services. Will stay here again. We camped at Raton KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park has been here quite a while and it shows. Run down neighborhood w/an upscale condo development next door. Five empty retail spaces out front. Poor signage; were told to look for the sign for the condo development. 50 amp power on some sites but ours at least, had no way to shut off power while plugging in/ unplugging.

Median in street requires a u-turn if coming from East and another if leaving going West. On plus side, mgmt was friendly and helpful; kept grounds clean although lots of dog poop not picked up in dog-walk area. Would probably stay here again. We camped at Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins, Bayfield, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park near Vallicito Lake. 8000 ft elevation so it gets cold at night in Sept. Lots of big trees, lots of shade. Back-in spots little hard to manage because they are tight and the trees. Wifi worked fine but no tv unless you rent their Directv box or have your own. About 20 miles/45 minutes into Durango but plenty to do around the lake. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Meeker River Bend RV Park, Meeker, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times over the last 10 or so years while attending the Meeker Classic sheepdog trials. Sites are spacious and easy to get into. During the trials, it fills up with numerous dry campers as well as those with hookups, but not a problem. Our site this year was right on the river. Very pleasant. Only problem we saw was the manager sometimes disappeared for hours at a time when people were trying to check in. We camped at Meeker River Bend RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Good for a one night stay. Campground is fine; everything works. Airport and train noise depending on wind direction and flight pattern. Not much to Gallup other than the El Rancho Hotel and Cafe. It is an old Rte 66 standby; lots of movie star photos and storys. Worth an hour or so and the food is OK too. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We had stayed here several years ago and would not have stayed again except it is in the right place for our trip. The sewer system was non functioning but we were only there for one night so didnt matter. Everything else worked fine. Management warned us that the weather service prediction for the overnight low was not accurate so we unhooked water and glad we did since although NWS was saying the low was 30 degrees, it was actually about 25 and outside water did freeze pretty hard. Santa Rosa is a nice little town once you get away from the interstate. The Blue Hole and Santa Rosa Lake are nice to visit. Propane available on site. We camped at Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, Quanah, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We holed up here for several nights waiting out weather. Everything was as advertised. Sites are spacious and easy to access. Everything worked fine except as others have noted, cable TV leaves much to be desired but we didn't stop here to watch tv. Our dogs were very interested in locating the cats but they stayed well hidden, but their poop was pretty obvious. No obvious train or highway noise even though both are nearby. Manager was helpful on phone as well as in person. We came in on a Sunday when office is closed so just parked and settled up on Monday. Will stay here again. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wagon Train RV Park, Canton, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little park for an overnight or a few nights. We are traveling cross-country and have had our fill of the in-town campgrounds, full of permanent residents all jammed up together.

Our GPS told us to take exit 527, which is the exit for city of Canton. Other reviewer noted the correct exit for westbounders. The next exit west will get you there also, just a little farther on the frontage road.

It is out in the country. Pretty quiet even though I-20 is out front. Cattle and horses against the back fence. Everything worked fine. This is our second time here and we will return. We camped at Wagon Train RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

When we asked about a place to eat, were told about Denny's, Taco Bell, Subway, etc. There are non-fast food places; just have to look. Try the Jalopino Tree on I-20 and exit 527 and Buttermilk's downtown near the Courthouse.

Pavilion RV Park, West Monroe, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a handy stop right off I-20 with a few pull throughs for overnighters as most of the sites are occupied with permanent residents. Over the air tv is good, utilities are easy to hook up and seem to work fine. A little noisy from the interstate and a dog pound nearby. Stayed here three nights waiting out a storm; otherwise its a one-nighter. We camped at Pavilion RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunset Travel Park, Cottondale, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in the large gravel parking lot across street from office. Everything worked fine (didn't try wifi as we have our own). The sites for transients are a little strange in that two sites use the same pedestal, which means your door faces your neighbors door. Works fine for a few nights. Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp), Goose Creek, South Carolina

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for three months. At 8:00am this morning, power was cut off. When asked at office when the power would be back on, response was, 3 days or so. Absolutely no notice given. We can't say enough good things about our camp host. He was as livid about the situation as we were. Guess this is the risk you run dealing with military mindset. On another occasion, we lost all wifi for several days. Found out later that someone in the office unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in. This is a good campground being ruined. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.
