Buddy's RV Park, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a winter resort park. Many of the campers here are permanent. But they do have some sites available for short stays. We stayed one month (March) at just under $11.oo a night. A fantastic find for this time of year and this location. No pool, no amenities, but power was steady and smooth, water was cool and sweet, sewer at each site. Close to U.S. 60 (freeway) but 30 miles from downtown Phoenix. Park was very quiet with no freeway noise, no trains, no heavy trucks. Best rate I could find for just pure parking with hookups. Call ahead for availability. We camped at Buddy's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Some of the best mix of rural life, City life, and winter weather in the country. Beautiful area, but remember this is the DESERT South West. Don't expect large forests and broad rivers.

Clark County Shooting Complex, Las Vegas, Nevada

Hidden gem for Las Vegas. Just raised rates to $25 per night. Spaces have a slight level problem, but a fantastic view of the city. We camped at Clark County Shooting Complex in a Motorhome.

Clark County Shooting Complex, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

At first blush, you wouldn't think this was an RV park, and I guess it really isn't. BUT...they do have 80 very nice, pull through spots for RV's with full hookups. If you want amenities like golf, swimming pool, close to gambling this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a great, reasonable parking place give this some consideration. There are 80 sites along the Shotgun shooting range. They are here for tournament shooters, but when no tournament is going on they are available to rent. 20.00 flat regardless of rig size. The Clark County Shooting Complex is the largest of it's kind in the world, a true 5-star shooting range. With accommodations for pistol, rifle, shotgun, and archery. If you are a shooter, you will think you have died and gone to heaven. If you're not a shooter, the range is closed on Monday and Tuesday, which would be an ideal time for a brief stay. They are extremely safety conscious and the entire complex is clean, safe and very well maintained. You're about 30 to 45 minutes away from the downtown Las Vegas Strip, so allow plenty of time for traffic and travel. Shopping, groceries, fuel, supplies and ammo are all available very close. You're away from the population center, but you're not out in the boonies.

The ground slopes slightly to the West. The lower number sites are slightly more level than the higher number sites. However, the lower number sites are closer to the more frequently used shotgun range. You will sacrifice level for quiet. Don't stress over it, the shooting isn't that noisy and the high number sites aren't that un-level. We camped at Clark County Shooting Complex in a Motorhome.

RV Park at the Casablanca Resort (formerly Oasis RV Park), Mesquite, Nevada

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Shower/toilets were spotless. Very clean for this type of park. Just a quick overnight stay for us. Expensive for an over night but we wanted to fill our water tank, get a comfortable shower, and charge our batteries. Grocery stores near by and prices are reasonable. The actual spots are kinda tight. If you have a slide and your neighbor has a slide you can almost shake hands through the open windows. No tables, fire-rings or pits. We camped at RV Park at the Casablanca Resort (formerly Oasis RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Gambling without the Las Vegas crowds. Usually not as crowded as Vegas and much more laid back.

Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area, Littlefield, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

Off the freeway, but far enough away that we never heard any traffic noise. This is a BLM campground with NO hookups. Toilets were clean spaces are small, but well spaced. There is a good mix of back-in and pull-through. This is NOT a destination resort, but it is beautiful spectacular scenery with some hiking available. We must have had different camp hosts than others have reviewed because the place was clean, picked up, trash cans were emptied and covered. We stayed over Veterans Day in November, and the campground was busy but not packed. Summary: Beautiful scenery, no hookups, overnight $4.00 with America the Beautiful Pass. We camped at Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The Viking RV Park, Kingsburg, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Not a destination RV resort. Small, mostly monthly users, but they try to keep a few spots open for travelers. Stay a night, maybe two then move on. We camped at The Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dos Reis Regional Park, Lathrop, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a hidden gem. Well away from any traffic noise, a very peaceful spot on the San Joaquin river. We were here off season and enjoyed our stay. Camp is below a river levee so you don't have a river view. Least expensive we found in the whole area. We camped at Dos Reis Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Pack Creek Campground and RV Park, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

I think this may be one of Moab's undiscovered gems. We spent a week there in our Motorhome. Power was clean and steady, with no sags or brownouts. Only 30-amp, but it was plenty for our rig. The sites were compacted gravel, hard and level, but not pavement. Sites are too close together for our liking. The free WiFi was sketchy because of frequent router crashes, but I think the owner is addressing this issue. The big plus for us was the peace and quiet. This campground is well off the main highway so there was absolutely NO highway noise, everyone was well behaved, and it was perfect for getting a good nights rest. We were in a semi-off season time period so we were able to obtain a great rate for the entire week. Camp personnel were friendly and responsive. Showers are very large and were clean. I didn't have occasion to use the bathrooms. We are going to be staying here again for sure! We camped at Pack Creek Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Willard Bay State Park, Cottonwood Campground, Willard, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a state run campground, but is very nice. Spacious, level sites with sewer, electric (30 amp max). and water. There is campground Wi-Fi, but it is very poor and not reliable. Good cell phone reception, but too close to the freeway. You'll hear the traffic noise, but it's not bad. In the fall the nearby town of Perry has some of the best peaches in the world. We camped at Willard Bay State Park, Cottonwood Campground in a Motorhome.

Lava Spa Motel & RV, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Like so many campgrounds the owner/manager made all the difference. He was very nice, and we enjoyed our stay. No showers or laundry, and we were there after the 'season' was over, so it was quiet. ALL campgrounds in this location are going to hear the train as it labors up the canyon. Plenty of shade, plenty of room between sites. We are looking forward to staying there again. I believe if you're coming after the main season (after Labor-day) you could probably bargain hard for a better price. We camped at Lava Spa Motel & RV in a Motorhome.
