Swinomish Northern Lights Casino RV Park, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

After reading some of the comments in previous years, namely the extremely negative review done in June 2014 we were somewhat sceptical about booking at Swinomish. Access to the casino rv park was well marked and easy to navigate with wide access lanes. When we arrived I asked the front desk staff what the power voltage was and they were told by phone with maintenance that it was 30 amp and 120 volts. This was confirmed when I plugged in my surge guard power protector and all green lights showed. We were told to go to our site, which was shown on the park rv map and settle in then come back and register, which was reassuring as often you have paid only to find out the site looks better on the web page than in reality. Water, pressure showed just under 40 psi so there was no concern about incurring damage to our rv's plumbing system. Power, cable, water, and sewer were all available at the rear of our unit, which is consistent with any other park layout. We found the park very well maintained, garbage was picked up twice daily and the sprinklers came on before dawn to water the grass. Our site had two picnic tables that we were able to position where we wanted without any difficulty. The walkway from the rv park to the casino was well light with pedestal post lights and a paved walkway. Yes, the park is situated next to train tracks and the train using those tracks moved slowly not creating much noise. We heard the train whistle each day once in the late afternoon and never during the evening or night. We stayed for three nights and would stay again if in the area. We camped at Swinomish Northern Lights Casino RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The park has an overflow area for those folks wanting to stay in the area but dry camp and is spacious and level. This is a great place to use as a home base while exploring Burlington, LaConnor, and Anacortes. Check out Anthony's seafood restaurant in Anacortes, excellent food.

Dave's RV Park and Campground, Vanderhoof, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Costs are in Canadian funds. Arrived with the intent of staying 3 nights, but we were only showing as staying 1 night on their ledger. Paid in full for three nights and then explored the town of Vanderhoof looking for a restaurant, but none were found or open. Our site was not level and required pads to level. This park is situated on a modest slope. All services available on site and cell service was available. The park charges $3 plus tax for wifi and it is valid for only 24 hours. We would not stay here again.

After seeing the lack of amenities in town, we told the owner that we may not stay 3 nights, but 2. We asked if he would credit us the night we gave up, his response: "Why should I?" The park was more than 50% vacant so he was not going to lose revenue. We camped at Dave's RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cariboo Joy Campground, Wells, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The primary purpose in visiting Wells is to see Barkerville, a short 8km drive down the road. Although the campground lacks services found in other parks the owner has done a good job of maintaining cleanliness and providing privacy among guests. This is perhaps the best park for the area and purpose of the journey. We camped at Cariboo Joy Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If coming to Wells ensure you have adequate staples and groceries as the availability in Wells is very scarce. Gas and diesel is available in Wells and the road in is paved. Restaurants provide only limited choices in Wells or Barkerville.

Barkerville itself offers guided tours along with self guided walks which can be done in one day, but the fee to enter Barkerville is valid for two days.

Stampede Campground, Williams Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here on our way to Barkerville, after a long drive. Campgrounds are easily visible coming from the south and access is well marked. Centrally located in town with minor road noise from the main highway. As previously stated narrow sites and they are configured like the spokes of a wheel, not rectangular. Many sites on the inner area are suitable for small units or truck camper rigs. Water pressure just under 40 psi and electrical check 100% okay. We found that we needed one leveller pad under the one side to ensure our rig was level.

Good place to rest on your way to the next destination, but we would not stay for more than a day. We camped at Stampede Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Gold Mountain RV Park, Republic, Washington

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived around mid day in Republic and found the campsite just west of town. Recently opened early this year so missing a few amenities such as picnic table and fire ring; however, the hosts are planning to add improvements next year. Very long pull threw sites approximately 90 feet in length with the power pad central along with water and sewer hookup. Unfortunately no cable at the time we stayed but very open for satellite users. In the fall the resident deer herd keeps the grass trimmed neatly. Although next to a state highway very little road noise. Hosts were able to recommend restaurants in town and the buildings in town are reminiscent of the west, well worth exploring. We camped at Gold Mountain RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fidalgo Bay Resort, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Having stayed here a few years ago we knew what to expect so we're not disappointed. Sites are on gravel pads with the power post with water and cable at both ends of the pad making hook ups easy. Sewer connection is central but lacks a screw in fitting and relies on the weight on the steel lid to hold everything in place. Fairly close together with weathered picnic tables. Cable and wifi was okay, but did notice drops on wifi occasionally. The best ocean sites are reserved for class a motor homes which is a disappointment. The town of Anacortes close by with a couple of grocery stores. We camped at Fidalgo Bay Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground, Virgin, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

We booked Zion in November for five days and thought we would get placed in a nice site; however, that was not the case. Our site was on the perimeter of the park, next to the river, consisting of a gravel area so close to our neighbours you could hear conversations. The power pad, water, and sewer all connecting at the front of our back in pad. Water and power were reachable, but the sewer line needed an extension. Fortunately I carried one with us. Other sites in the park have strips of grass and a concrete pad only wide enough to accommodate your unit. The park truly maximizes the area to place as many rv' inside to generate revenue. On the plus side they do allow all types of rv' including tents to stay. The grounds are very well maintained and a small store section allows for the purchase of forgotten items. The town of Hurricane is only 8 miles away and offers every city amenity. Zion NP is a hiker's paradise, but only a glimpse if you are unable to walk much distance. We camped at Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 5 nights and we're pleased with all the amenities and central location in Pahrump. Resort offers two swimming pools a hot tub, laundry, as well free breakfast during the week. Sites are gravel and mostly level with the power pad in the rear suitable for the longest Class A motor home. You are one hour from Death Valley and Las Vegas and about an extra half hour to the Hoover Dam. As well the resort has a RV wash area suitable for Class A units, with ladders and high pressure hoses to clean the bugs off. Lacking is a picnic table to set your barbecue on. Windy when we were here but nothing uncomfortable. The price for fuel is cheaper in Pahrump than other places. We camped at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages in a Travel Trailer.

Boulder Creek RV Resort, Lone Pine, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for two nights and were impressed with the setting and work done by the owners to ensure a good experience in this desert setting. By far the nicest RV park since leaving Reno. Problem with cablevision and within 15 minuites of being informed service man to diagnose and correct the problem. Pool and hot tub enjoyable and they offer homemade muffins in the morning. Wifi worked flawlessly without any drops. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Susanville RV Park, Susanville, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight on our way to Las Vegas and were assigned a pull thru site. Power post convienently located. Reception helpful and provided maps of the city. The pad was concrete but only wide enough for the trailer and not long enough to remain connected to our truck. Very close to neighbours and narrow roads to navigate. Noticed quite a few long term stays situated on the perimeter. Wifi was working however they state they can't ensure it is stable. Overall a good place to rest on the way to your next destination. We camped at Susanville RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Crown Villa RV Resort, Bend, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park was chosen after viewing their website and it did not disappoint us, instead of only staying overnight we stayed an extra night. Reception staff were very helpful and provided maps and restaurants in the local area. The sites are all 70' in length so backing in was made easy and with about 20' width lots of room for lawn chairs. The most significant feature was the spacious area allocated per unit. The rear of our unit was about 50 yards of grass before the next row of units parked. There appear to be a few long term renters but nothing of concern noted. The city of Bend has every store one would find or require while stopping. We camped at Crown Villa RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Yakama Nation RV Park, Toppenish, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We were leaving in the morning so requested a pull thru and they accommodated our request. The site had no grass, older tables and so close together you would have no privacy if another unit was next to you. The power pedestal was at the front while must units connect at the rear, fortunately we were able to connect. Most noticeable was how short the pull thru area, truck was partially in the roadway and we had to unhook to get level. No alcohol permitted do to being on native land, but not much mention of that I any reviews we read. Overall park area very clean but we will not return. Granite Lake Premier RV Resort, Clarkston, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Booked by phone and told no river view sites available, but saw that there were sites available upon arrival. Appear to be many long term campers who stay for months. No swimming pool, and very congested within the park. They provide helpers to assist in backing up your unit. Unless you have a river view, it is quite crowded to have a fire bowl at night. We camped at Granite Lake Premier RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
