Cascade Campground, Nathrop, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Rate does not include recreation.gov fee of $9. Reservations sugested for week-ends as this CG is usually full. We have used this CG several times and usually have good things to say about it. The wind does blow in the valley here so expect that. Many campers use this CG and others nearby for the access to the hot springs pools, also very busy most summer weekends. We camped at Cascade Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Saint Elmo is a popular spot for ATV enthusiasts, but interesting ghost town nonetheless. Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort is just down the road.

Goodland KOA, Goodland, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here to visit a relative on our way home. Park could use a little sprucing up, but overall a good place to overnight. Manager was very accommodating and friendly. Had a good stay with no issues at all. Easy in/out. We camped at Goodland KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Eureka Springs KOA, Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice KOA set in the woods on a fairly busy side road. Road noise falls off after dark and didn't both us at all. Escorted to our site by a staff member, which was good due to some of the interior roads having many forks and turns. The setup adds to the quaint feel of the park. This can be a busy place on the weekends, especially when an event is going on. Found the laundry and bath house to be clean as can be and all in working order. Staff was attentive, friendly and helpful when needed. We came in from the west on US62 and left on US62 going east. West approach is a slow and winding road, east side was easier, even with town traffic. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Eureka Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Whether you are a Christ follower or not, visit Thorncrown Chapel for an uplifting experience and it's donation based. We would skip Pivot Rock and maybe Blue Springs, there are lots of free hikes available i n the area just as good.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Kaiser, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Our GPS took us to the other side of the lake, durn. We liked this park, even though the sites are only electric, the bathrooms have free showers and are clean, even if a little dated. Had a raccoon come into camp to investigate our pooch, many deer and goose as well. Great place to stay and would do it again if in the area for sure. Fire pit could have been cleaner and sites are a little close in places. We really enjoyed our stay here! We camped at Lake of the Ozarks State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Some have said shopping is a ways out on curvy roads, which is true. The abundance and variety of shopping, however, is really good. Local grocery had everything we needed and had a good selection of wine and beer to boot.

Port of Kimberling Campground (formerly Waters Edge Cabin and RV Resor, Kimberling City, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Somewhat noisy when we were there, this was a short three night stop and could be longer for many folks. Great view of harbor, boat operations and the like. Not too clean bathroom facilities. Site needed cleanup, fire pit full of ash, small trash items and minor junk laying around. Walking though the park was fun every day, with a nice perimeter road and trail to the adjacent camp ground areas. There were some loud and boisterous families there, but Sunday was quiet. Reservations suggested, this is a busy area. We camped at Port of Kimberling Campground (formerly Waters Edge Cabin and RV Resor in a Travel Trailer.

Bellaire Lake Campground, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Up a some what steep dirt road that needed grading, this campground sits among a lot of downed trees. Many sites are unprotected from wind that blows through here almost daily. Most fire rings are older style, but most sites have a charcoal grill too. Nearby lake was extremely busy over the weekend as there is a day use area near by. While we stayed in site 8, we liked site 10 much better for the limited privacy it affords. Camp host woke us early one morning yelling at another camper, fellow seemed to pay very close attention to the goings on - maybe a little too much. Doubt we will return to this CG. We did like Red Feather Lakes for it's village charm. We camped at Bellaire Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Catch the gnome lane in Red Feather Lakes. Locals and visitors have placed all sorts of gnomes and other small items along this road. These are the guardians of the animals of the forest. Locals can tell you where it is and I would suggest walking the road for best viewing.

Lost Burro Campground & Lodging, Cripple Creek, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Lost Burro many times and will likely stay here again. Staff does keep the grass mowed, restrooms clean and grounds up well. Wi-Fi worked OK for checking mail, no AT&T cell service in most of the park. We stay here because the other campgrounds in town are in the open and not particularly inviting. While out of town a bit, you are close enough for the gaming, restaurants, and entertainment in Cripple Creek. Now the bad. This reason for my low rating is the large number of derelict looking units and full timers, some with messy campsites, staying here. Much of the park simply looks shabby as a result. We camped at Lost Burro Campground & Lodging in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like comedy, check out the Butte Theater's melodrama when it is running.

In my opinion, the best 'fine dining' restaurant in town is 'The Steak House' in Bronco Billy's Casino. Great food and atmosphere. Reservations suggested for good seating.

Cotopaxi/Arkansas River KOA, Cotopaxi, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We had an easy in/out pull-through site for three nights after skipping another campground up the road that was undesirable. Overall a very nice facility and nothing to complain about here. Wonderful dog park for our pup. Access to the river for fishing. Fire ring and the site was very clean. Campground well kept up and very clean. Staff very helpful, could not ask for a better place to stay. Wi-Fi worked fine for a brief mail check, but use is limited by park. We camped at Cotopaxi/Arkansas River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Molly Brown, Leadville, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite campgrounds and we have stayed here many times for family reunions of sorts. Very busy on weekends and recommend reservations for the best sites all days. Upper sites are better protected from lake wind and still an easy walk to the lake. Close drive to the boat ramp. Disappointed the govt removed the better restroom facilities making this a lower class facility. We camped at Molly Brown in a Travel Trailer.
