Oceanside RV Park, Gold Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

What a find! We were only here for 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was so friendly, parking was easy, and it was right across the street from the beach. The park is right between the ocean and the Rogue river. It is behind a small airport but we never saw or heard a plane take off or land while we were there. We did hear the fog horn but it blended into the ambience. We camped at Oceanside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Harbor Vista Park, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The rangers were very nice and helpful when we arrived and let us check in early. This campground was heavily forested with skinny roads and a lot of dragging brush ("lush green, surroundings.") We were just too big, I guess. We had to wiggle into our site. The tent campers across the way moved their vehicles for us. We were just able to angle in our towed in front We found the beach access after we parked and took a nice walk and climbed on the rocks. In the evening the power started to fluctuate then completely cut out. We disconnected and went dark rather than deal with it through the rangers. We were leaving early in the morning. Luckily, the site across had vacated and we were able to wiggle out and be on our way. This campground is part of the Lane County Parks which are usually well maintained. We were just unlucky with this site. We camped at Harbor Vista Park in a Motorhome.

The ranger said we were in the "old section." If you can, get a "newer" spot it may be a little easier to park and you might get reliable power.

Armitage Park , Eugene, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We return to this park whenever we are in Oregon. Their online reservation is user-friendly and their cancellation policy is fair. This year we were in SITE 5. It is a back-in with plenty of room for our Big Rig and our towed with full hook-ups. We discovered that we were unable to get the satellite tuned in due to a large tree on the driver's side. We used their local cable. The campgrounds are well kept and the park provides beautiful walking trails. Usually you can just find your reserved site and park. They mark the sites with reservations but make sure you check-in with the ranger to get the codes for rest rooms and laundry. They are a bit picky about giving them out after. We camped at Armitage Park in a Motorhome.

Tulelake - Butte Valley Fairgrounds, Tulelake, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped for 1 night. We only saw about 30 sites on grass, back-in and level. No one else was there. We checked all of the connections and finally found a 50 amp site. It was a self check-in with not much information at the kiosk. Later a pick-up drove through and stopped to ask how long we were staying as they wanted to water the grass where we were parked. They waited until we left the next day. I've read the other reviews and am convinced there must be another parking area because we didn't see any restrooms. Gave a high rating as the price was right, it had full hook-ups, & was quiet and spacious. Again, it was great for 1 night. We camped at Tulelake - Butte Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

The little town was very sad. Most shops were boarded up. We found the "Jolly Kone" in town and had a decent burger. Thank goodness because it was the only restaurant open. The town had very wide, empty streets and only 1 market.

Tahoe Valley RV Resort, South Lake Tahoe, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Thousand Trails/Encore resort, spaces and roads are tight! The 1st night they put us in #247 F loop. I was amazed we were able to get in. So tight and only 30 amp. It was hot and power kept going off that night. We noted a few neighbors had vacated the next day and thought this was our only chance of getting out of the tight fit. We went to office and explained our concerns. They were great and really helped us find a larger site with the 50 amp we had reserved. It was a dicey exit not only from that 1st site but from the F loop! A lot of campers helped spot us. We do not recommend going into those loops with anything over 40'. They found us site 487 on Loop A. This was great for us. We had to pull in from the back of the site and were not able to line up as indicated, but all hookups reached. Our stay was very pleasant after that. We were able to back straight out and exit without any problems at the end of our stay. We were there for 4 nights. We camped at Tahoe Valley RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Only loops A & C have 50 amp.

If you are a large motorhome, unhook and preview the site and loops before you drive your rig in. The trees are growing bigger and the motorhomes are getting larger.
We also noted bear activity in the area. Locals advised not to leave food in your cars.
Very popular in the summer. Make reservations early.

Bridgeport Reservoir Marina & RV Park, Bridgeport, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Another 1 night stopover on our way to Lake Tahoe. The place was eclectic but clean, had 50 amp and a sewer. The campground is small and not a luxury resort but it worked well for us. The website pretty much shows it and provides a site map. The proprietor was friendly, he gave us a large end spot.

The drought was so apparent. The campground is right at the reservoir but the water was so low you could hardly see it in the distance. We camped at Bridgeport Reservoir Marina & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bring your provisions or stop on the way. There was a small town with a very limited market. The scenery was beautiful and looked like a place for hikers.

Highlands RV Park, Bishop, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This was a 1 night stop-over for us. We are a big rig so we had a pull-through on an end. It was a nice campground with paved and sand lots. The front office was friendly and helpful. It had a running stream in the front of the property with a big, grassy area with some shade trees. I was pleasantly surprised that they let you walk your dog in such a pretty area. We camped at Highlands RV Park in a Motorhome.

Deer Ridge Camping Resort, Richmond, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The rate reflects a Passport America discount but extra charges for a pull-through, 50 amp, pet, and taxes. This was a 1 night stop over for us. I wish we had just kept driving and pulled into a rest area. The lady at check-in was nice. The site was awful. It looked like it was in a ditch. There was a rising hill with a tree on one side and a wooden platform on the other. We eventually had to pull around and back into it. We had 50 amp and full hook-ups but we were dirty and muddy by the time we finally could settle in. We camped at Deer Ridge Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

The rate includes Good Sam discount and taxes. This park was clean, had easy access pull-through sites, and 50 amp with full hook-ups. Everything was gravel, the sites were level and sized well. The staff was pleasant and provided escorted parking. Our rig is over 40’and we stayed 1 night. We camped at Junction West RV Park in a Motorhome.

The rate reflects a 15% discount with taxes added. We needed easy and got it. The resort was friendly, the gravel roads and sites were level. We had a pull-through with 50 amp and full hook-ups. The sites were adequately spaced. We have a big rig and stayed 1 night. We camped at Holiday RV Park in a Motorhome.

Holiday Acres Camping Resort, North Scituate, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over a week. The site we parked on was an open, grass, pull-through area with tents around the perimeter. We found the management very friendly and helpful. The site was level, easy to park, and had full hook-ups. We were comfortable leaving our rig during the day while we were sight-seeing and visiting. This is a big, sprawling campground. As stated, it has a lot of live-ins, is very rustic and has a bumpy wooded access road. We are not fans of campfires and it seems that is analogous to camping in RI. Every site had a fire pit that most campers burned constantly. We kept closed with the air running. I would not use their laundry room. We will stay here again as it suited our needs. Our rig is over 40'. We camped at Holiday Acres Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Ben Franklin RV Park, York, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is as advertised, a park, not a campground and has mostly live-ins. It has back-in and some pull-through sites open for travelers, most with hook-ups. We had spoken with the owner, who took our reservation and left us parking information at the self-check-in. He gave us several choices due to the size of our rig (43'.) We chose a 50-amp, full-hook-up, back-in site. The site was on grass, the camp was quiet and had a 1 PM check-out time. Our receipt was emailed to us the next day. Although a bit of a parking challenge, we would stay here again when traveling this way. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Custer's Gulch RV Park, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This park is only minutes out of Custer, a cute, little Western town, and 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. The access road was a long, dusty ride. The sites were on a gravel strip with grass between. We stayed in a large, level, back-in site with full hook-ups. We enjoyed the songbirds and the yellow-bellied marmots that live around the cabins. The ponds, however, were green and stagnant, surrounded by tall buggy grass and cat tails. We would probably pick a less rustic place is ever visiting again. We stayed 2 nights. Our rig is 43'. We camped at Custer's Gulch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Batise Springs RV Park, Pocatello, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, little, no-frills, self-serve spot. We called ahead and they left a note taped to the door with instructions and Wi-Fi codes. We were able to park in any open spot. There is a self check-in at the office. The owner drove through later and said to call with any problems. There were none. All sites were well kept, pull-through with full hook-ups and 50 amp. You park on gravel with grass between the sites. The couple who came to water the grass made sure to alert us and actually worked around us so our rig would not get wet. The place is part of an RV/boat storage facility and bordered by a creek on one-side and farming on the other. We stayed 2 nights. We camped at Batise Springs RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wasatch View Estates and RV Park, Ogden, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We used Passport America and stayed in early July. Well, as I read in prior reviews, the management was very friendly. The RV sites are interspersed among a lot of live-in sites. They had 50amp, full hook-ups. We had back-in site with the view of the mountains & some kind of factory. The place had a pool & showers which we didn't use. We stayed 2 nights and if you need a stop over, the price is right. It has your basic needs, but if aesthetics are important to you, it is not your place. We camped at Wasatch View Estates and RV Park in a Motorhome.
