R.J. RV Park, Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on and off from Interstate 25. Great overnight stop. Minimum amenities. No pool. No dog run. No playground for kids. No picnic tables. No fire rings. But the bath/showers were clean. The laundry was clean and inexpensive. There was a large lounge next to the office for playing cards or watching a large TV. Some sites have cable TV but I did not use it and was able to get multiple channels OTA. Great Verizon reception. Big Rig friendly. I was on the upper level and the sites there are very level. There is no grass. The entire park is packed gravel. The manager lives on site and is very friendly and helpful. I gave the site a satisfactory because it was basically a set of fullhookups in a large flat gravel area that had several fullhook up sites. There was no separation of sites and there was no privacy. I would stay there again. A great value for fullhookups. We camped at R.J. RV Park in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque Central KOA, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I will start with my complaint. Once your off the interstate there were no signs directing you the campground. There was a HUGE sign on the interstate for that exit but then NOTHING. Having to search for the campground driving a big rig and towing a car was not fun. It was your typical KOA. Sites very close together like sardines, little shade. The place was clean and well landscaped. Laundry was clean and priced reasonable. $2.25 wash $1.75 dry. Pool looked clean. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Some highway noise but it did not seem bothersome. I stopped for one night to dump, get water and do laundry before going to the Balloon Fiesta. The area did not seem safe at first because all the apartment complexs and housing developments had locked gates. The campground was gated and had a guard stationed at the gate. I felt very safe walking to the laundry late at night. We camped at Albuquerque Central KOA in a Motorhome.

Cape Hatteras KOA, Rodanthe, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This place can rightfully call itself a RESORT. It has everything and the beach is only a walk across the dunes. Huge area for the kids. The pool wrapped around the clubhouse and was crystal clear. Decent store. There is no shade. No privacy between sites. The sites are asphalt and level with nice grass between them. I would go there again but it is very pricey for an overnight stop. We camped at Cape Hatteras KOA in a Motorhome.

Ocracoke Campground, Cape Hatteras (National Seashore), Ocracoke, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

The rangers and camp hosts were very nice and informative. Reservations are usually needed. Campground was very clean. You do need to go across the road to the dump station and to get drinking water. Very easy in and out for that. None of the sites have shade. Numerous pathways across the dune to the ocean. You can not see the ocean but you can hear it. A very relaxing place to park. Good Verizon reception. Poor to no TV ota reception. We camped at Ocracoke Campground, Cape Hatteras (National Seashore) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The sites are not very long. You need to back all the way in until your back tires hit the parking bumper. Then park sideways in front of the RV. My motorhome is 30 feet and just barely fit with my toad parked sideways in front. No parking on the grass is strictly enforced. All the sites are very level. Usually very windy. Only a couple minutes drive into town.

Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground, Cedar Island, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

They are in the middle of rebuilding their pullthru sites due to the storm. They are deep sand that I almost got stuck. The site was unlevel. When I attempted to level using boards my wheels only dug deeper in the sand. There is no sewer at the pullthru and the water/electric connections are on the wrong side. Excuse was that slideouts are usually on the driver side(connection side). Still have not figured that one out. Had to register at a bar down the road. They were not very friendly. Asked about laundry. Was told it was at the other end of the property. It was at the end of a run down motel behind a motel that was falling down. Not very convenient at all. We camped at Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I would not waste my money at this campground. It sits right next to the waiting area for the ferry. There is a place to park lined up for the ferry if you have a reservation. There is also a place to park lined up for the ferry if you have no reservation. This line has a few trees and picnic tables. If I had known about the free waiting lines, I would have saved my money and anxiety that was created by almost getting stuck in the sand. I would not stay at this campground again.

Manatee Hammock Campground, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice county park located right on the water across from the space center launching pads. Long fishing pier. Fenced in dog walk. Paved interior roads. Forested with tall trees. The sites are very close together but there are bushes between most sites that give a sense of privacy. The campground is quiet but there is road noise. The road noise is less at night. There were no puddles after a night of heavy rain. Good Verizon cell and internet connection. Small pool but it was crystal clear. Clean laundry room open 24/7. $2 wash and $2 dry. Would stay there again. We camped at Manatee Hammock Campground in a Motorhome.

Ocala RV Camp Resort, Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

A very large park with lots of snowbirds. Level sites. Clean and neat park. Friendly helpful staff. Escorted to your site. Well equipped and clean laundry. Altho the laundry does seem to close early at 8pm. There is a cute little pond with a huge goldfish and turtles. I counted 12 turtles from babies to huge. Good free cable. Good water pressure. Good power. The park is very close to Interstate 75 so there is traffic noise that does decrease at night. Free WiFi is OK. Good Verizon reception. Liked the park so much I stayed a week. We camped at Ocala RV Camp Resort in a Motorhome.

Villager RV Park, Wildwood, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Passport America for 2 days. Mostly long term sites. The overnight sites were grass with dips making being level slightly difficult. One of my jacks overextended. Had a problem getting it to go up and now I need to have it repaired. So, be careful when leveling. The laundry facility was clean and reasonably priced. I did not use their WiFi. OTA TV reception was poor. You could not see the turnpike due to trees but you sure could hear it night and day. No fire ring. No picnic table. We camped at Villager RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very friendly staff. Escorted to site. Entire place clean and tidy. Clean laundry room. Level sites. Good OTA TV station reception. Good Verizon reception. This was my second stay here. I did give a 9 because there are few trees and the sites are very close with no privacy screen of any type between sites. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Golden Isles Vacation Park, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is hard to evaluate. Positives....close to interstate for easy off and on. Truck Stop/Travel Center at exit. Grocery store nearby, Good interior roads. Level sites. New clean laundry machines. Restrooms/showers appeared recently remodeled. I did not use them because i always use mine in my motorhome.I did use the laundry and they worked just fine. Negatives......the front desk lady was not friendly at all. When I walked in she was waiting on a customer and she did not look up at that customer or ever looked at me. When the customer asked about the advertised WiFi she mumbled probably not. then when asked about the advertised cable she said you needed a box and she had none. There is no landscaping between sites. The sites are mostly grass with some gravel. Easy pull thru but very close together. Barely room for your picnic table between your RV and your neighbors hookups. No fire rings. No shade. The sewer connection is at the back of the site. Extra extensions needed to reach it. Good Electric and water connections. Good Verizon signal. A few good over the air TV stations. It appears that about 50% of the sites are either yearly or seasonal. They do appear mostly tidy. The entire campground just looks old . Being near the interstate there is highway noise but did not seem obtrusive. Would I stay there again? yes. For $20 it was a good stop on the way to your destination. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Chestnut Ridge Park, Bruceton Mills, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A very back in the forest park. Several miles of winding hilly road to get to the park. Too far off the beaten path for just an overnight stop. Roads were paved but narrow. Registration was easy and friendly. Poor parking space for RVs at registration. Roads to the campsites were gravel/dirt/small ruts. Very little privacy between sites. I do not think there is a level campsite in the place. Both front wheels were well off the ground to get the motorhome level. OTA TV spotty. Good cell reception. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Motorhome.

Friendly helpful staff. New owners. You can tell they are seriously remodeling the entire campground. The restrooms/showers were in the middle of being remodeled so not so nice yet. Clean air conditioned laundry. NICE. Well stocked store. Clean level sites. Good free WIFI. Great TV antenna reception. There was constant interstate noise but not to bad. It did not bother me. Overall Rating:

A great little campground for a stopover. Not a destination campground although it is a good base camp for exploring the area. Laundry area was clean but seemed expensive at $2 a wash and $2 a dry. Manager lives on-site and is very friendly and helpful. Free cable TV. Free WIFI that I kept getting kicked off. Good water. Good electric. I would stay here again.
