Sea Ranch RV Park & Stables, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Nice check-in lady. No pull throughs. No marked roads within the park. Very eclectic - positioning of sites is wherever the owner thought another vehicle would fit. Sewer sites are jury-rigged with connections sometimes horizontal and 18 inches above the ground. All the hook-ups are in the very back of the sites demanding, sometimes, very long hoses and electricity cables. Close to the city -easy walking distance to the main downtown area and beach. Fairly quiet as it is somewhat off of Rt.101. Prices are high in Cannon Beach as it appears to be a high demand area. $55 for these park is high, but it is Cannon Beach after all. It is well within a Tsunami zone. Look at the photos from 1964 that wiped this area clean. We camped at Sea Ranch RV Park & Stables in a Motorhome.

Bay River Campground, Merritt, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Wanted to stay along the water, and this was the only park along 17 N (and 15 miles off of that) that we could find heading toward VA. Didn't know what to expect at the end of a gravel drive and no office, but were pleasantly surprised with our reception by the owners' son. Very small area, and we seemed to be the only overnighters, the few other units being permanent. The owners live on-site. Cash only. Sites have green grass. TV reception good, no WIFI, Verizon good. 2 small, shower/restroom combos: 1 for men, 1 for women in back of closed office. Clean and adequate. Nice walk down to the pier and great view of bay and water. This is a very small, quiet and very rustic spot, good for a 1 night stop-over, or more if one were a fisher person and wanted to explore the area. The owners are delightful. There's nothing to do here but sit and relax. We have a 28 ft. motorhome and weren't towing. We camped at Bay River Campground in a Motorhome.

Surf City Family Campground, North Topsail Beach, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Location, Location, Location. That's the big deal for us at this RV Park. It is right on the Atlantic Ocean. A short walk and you are on the beach. The place is old and spaces are tight. Lots of long-term summer residents. Many are fisher people who haul their tackle and gear out to the beach and spend the morning and evening hours. Friendly folk. The lady who checks you in and runs the place is a dear. Showers and toilets are tight and old, but everything works and the water is good and plentiful. Sewer hookup is the rear of your site and was a long run from our RV port. The nice rustic park. We camped at Surf City Family Campground in a Motorhome.

South of the Border, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Large park with pull-throughs (cost more than back-ins) and back-ins. Ours was a back-in. Old park and roughly maintained but OK. Pull-through sites are nicer. Lots of shade. Campground is part of a Mexican-theme based amusement park complex. For the June time period, not many takers. Our site sewer dump was not close enough for us to use and was mixed in with some old tree roots. We used a vacant site sewer connection in the morning as we were leaving. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Moundville Archaeological Park, Moundville, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Angle will check you in and give you lots of information - great personally and very good with people. The final fee includes and campsite rate plus the park admission fee for each person. Campground is old and is scheduled for a make-over. Hook ups are mostly on the wrong side for RVs. The bath/shower building is clean and everything works. Specific sites are difficult to locate so we just parked on the grass near our hook ups. Some pull-thrus, some sites with sewer, the community dump is worthless and impossible to use. We dumped in an unoccupied site that had a sewer hookup. We camped at Moundville Archaeological Park in a Motorhome.

Country Boy RV Park, Madison, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Nice owner/staff. One nighters like us are put in pull-thrus in a newer area (sites 51-64). All are in full sun until late evening. The restroom/shower (only 1) is far away beside the office in the old section on the far edge of the park. Sites are gravel and somewhat level. Cable TV works, but WI-FI is poor as the owner stated. Off I-20 (south) about 2 miles. Mostly filled with long-term folks. Our site had no table. We camped at Country Boy RV Park in a Motorhome.

Houston West RV Park, Brookshire, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Level, good, gravel sites. No shade. Majority of occupants seem to be long-term/seasonal working people and families. Unfortunately, the host, did not enforce the 10pm-8am quiet hours, so we were subjected to loud, drunken, party noise until 2am. The twice/month Saturday morning free buffet breakfast was a nice surprise. Noise from I-10 is audible. Very easy on and off I-10. Good for one night. We camped at Houston West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lafayette KOA, Scott, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of families and kids (noise and music) this time of year. We were given a place sorta away from that. KOA rates are usually high and this one is no different, especially for rigs passing through and not needing all the amenities. We did get a KOA member 10% discount (we think) for a place away from the big pond ($45). We were told that the back ins by the pond were even more expensive. Easy access off of I-10 at Exit 97. We camped at Lafayette KOA in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Under new ownership (Horizon RV Resorts) that owns 13 parks across the USA. We stayed in a back-in (35' in length - concrete pad and picnic table area). Our 28' motorhome fit nicely. Some road noise from I-40, but not objectionable. Used Uber to get into Albuquerque to hit the tourist spots. No fire pits and cooking grills cannot be put on the picnic tables. Free continental breakfast from 7-9am. Get there early. Water hookup was in the ground and hard to get to. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Heritage RV Park, Corning, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here with a club. No room at site for the towed vehicle so the check-in lady offered the vacant site (73) next to us as a place to park it. The park club room, swimming pool and basic amenities are good, but trouble developed when the their 'grass' watering system went on during the night. It not only watered the grass patches between the narrow gravel sites, but it also watered the vehicles including the roof and windshield of my towed vehicle. The water quality is very hard and left hard water deposits all over. Two problems: 1) the grass between sites is not all grass but mostly dirt that turns to mud when watered. Many in our group complained about having to track mud into their rigs as the the Park does not allow a mat or rug to be placed on the 'grass'. 2) When I approached the office lady about what the Park would do about the hard water deposits, I was rudely dismissed and pointed to a 3x3inch hand written note that mentioned grass watering on M-W-F. That does not imply that the RV sites would get watered. When I persisted, I was told 'To get over it.' and asked to leave the park. The 'friendly' park attendant's attitude was obviously superficial. Beware staying here unless you like hard water deposited all over your vehicles and mud tracked inside. After two washings, the hard water deposits are still visible. Additionally, our rig pushed against low hanging tree limbs when backing into our site. We camped at Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park, Clio, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean, well maintained park. Hookups were very convenient to the side of our motorhome. Water pressure was a bit low, but adequate. The Wi-fi was worthless (extremely slow almost to the point of not functioning) - we used our Verizon iPhone hotspot. Both Cell and Data with Verizon were good. 24 cable channels but not HD (old pre-digital 480 format). Stayed here with a group of 30 folks. The clubhouse was too small for our group with chopped up rooms, but with a nicely
equipped kitchen. Only two toilets and two showers for men - tight quarters and sort of run down, but clean. We camped at Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Red Bluff RV Park, Red Bluff, California

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Stay here with a Good Sam Club Event. 10 rigs. We used the club house that was well equipped, large and clean. New management required advance payment (24hours ahead) or lose your space. The park was half empty?? Anyway, sites were level, gravel with a picnic table and grass. Mostly shaded and spacious. Staff is not always in the office and the telephone is not always answered. The showers and restrooms (same room) were well maintained and clean - also very warm. We camped at Red Bluff RV Park in a Motorhome.

Oroville / Feather Falls Casino KOA, Oroville, California

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Expensive as KOAs usually are. Located in conjunction with a Casino. Grounds are well kept. Site pads are narrow - maybe 10 feet in width. Picnic table sits on concrete. Stayed in a back-in near the highway - somewhat noisy at night from local traffic. Pull-Thrus are in the middle on the park and farther away from the road - also more expensive $49-64.00 depending on size. Rates during the week days are slightly less. Did not use Wi-Fi, but the Cable TV service is lousy, but it works - Analog channels only - no digital. Shower and toilet numbers are minimal (maybe 3-4, but clean. They have a store for supplies. Great place on Highway 101 in the middle of no place. Soon to be an air museum on site with run way. Secure area - gated. Brand new place with great landscaping and all concrete pads. Did not use the Wi-fi. Cable is analog not digital, but better than watching spanish speaking stations on air channels. Men's restroom and showers were grandiose but only two showers and one toilet.
