We have stayed at Blackhawk Lake numerous times in the past years. It is a very nice, quiet, family oriented campground. If you are looking for a pool, gameroom, and structured activities - this is not your campground. If you are looking for a quiet, friendly place in the middle of nowhere with a lake for boating, swimming (nice beach) and fishing then this is your campground. The sites are open but shady, and huge - there aren't too many sites you couldn't put 2 units on if you wanted. Very well patrolled and kept neat. Picnic areas and snack bar at the beach as well. Usually booked early in the year and if you go with any frequency you may see the same people. No seasonal sites. Most sites are very easy to level on.

I think that was the rate we paid...This is a good "stop off" place. Close to the interstate, like 1000 feet! Felt safe, State Patrol Office as you drove in. A lot of places to get food within walking distance. 2 convenience stores and a neat cheese shop with a 25 foot tall cow in front of it! OK place. Haven't ever done a KOA before, so I don't know what to compare it to. We stopped in the evening and were underway the next morning, but nice enough for what we needed.

Nice campground. I did question the ability to be able to level on some of the sites. A lot of seasonal sites. Most looked ok. New looking man made "pond" was great! All kinds of float toys for the kids and beach all the way around it! Hosts were nice, well stocked store, ice cream and a little snack bar - great fish or shrimp dinner on Friday night! Free "hay rides" no hay though... Playground equipment was a little dated. Free movie Saturday night. We went the weekend after Memorial day so it was a little quieter. We'll go back again.

I can't imagine how hard it is to get a site here. It's well worth it! I think every site is on water. Great hiking trails, nice beach/play area for kids. Great host family. A little drive to get back to town. The loons on the water at night and in the morning made it all worth while. Big sites, easy to get into. Have heard some things about the water quality since we were there, but I haven't had a chance to validate those concerns. If I can get a site, we'll go back!
