Thousand Lakes RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is located just west of Torrey, making it an ideal location for visiting Capitol Reef Natl Park. Gravel sites, we had to add a board to be level in our pull through, but trees were nicely trimmed. Easy check in, office/store with lots of souvenirs for sale. Great place to spend a couple days while exploring the great outdoors, we would go back. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Torrey is a very small town with under 200 people. Some nice restaurants, a general store with basic groceries, this is definitely out in the desert and depends on tourism.

Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

If you are an active senior, love being around people and like many activity choices, then Palm Creek is the place to stay! the 18-hole, par 3 golf course is in pristine condition and we took advantage of the 4:30 twilight rate of $8.00, a bargain! The sewing studio is huge and you can even rent a machine for $2 if you didn't bring yours. Also wonderful are the pottery, stained glass and lapidary studios. The old car show we attended one Sat on the grounds was top notch, entertainment was the Southwest Surfers, a Beach Boy tribute band. They were really entertaining. This is a huge park with many park models. Friendly people and we plan to come back another winter for a much longer visit! We camped at Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This low rate is a one month first time visitor rate of $499. Electric was additional, came to $95 but didn't run a/c much.

Casa Grande is a small town but has a very nice mall with everything you need.

Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Avi was a great place to spend a few days, as we could walk to the casino and a golf course was adjacent to it. Would recommend a site that backs up to a grassy area, more money but the view out our back window was gorgeous with the mountains. Parking is on gravel, but our site was very level. We camped at Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Across the street the casino provides a big parking lot for free dry camping. In the future, we would consider this for a short visit.

We took the best boat ride down the river. Left the Riverside Casino, went to Davis Dam and back by all the casinos. Very relaxing with great narration of the history of the area.

Admiralty RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place to stay! Very close to Sea World with free shuttle provided by Admiralty and situated only approximately 20 min from downtown. Wonderful, friendly staff who are extremely organized and helpful. Older park that is kept up and can accommodate longer rigs. We have a 38' fifth wheel and had a pull through. They have also split some pull through sites in two so you can park an extra vehicle for a little extra. Nice laundry facility reasonably priced. Large pool. Rate reflects staying 30 days at monthly rate, a great deal! We camped at Admiralty RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA, Ozark, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

An older park that is now a KOA and has been updated. We had a pull-through that worked out very well. Staff appears to run the park heeding the rules put in place. Owners are friendly and very helpful. Owner mentioned they were having some ant problems and came around and sprayed our connections which we thought considerate. (We didn't have any ant issues). Would definitely return. Also great cable and Wi-Fi. We camped at Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nashville North KOA ( formerly Nashville Country RV Park), Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Small RV park conveniently located off I-65. We asked for a pull-through since we were staying one night. This is an older park with narrow roads but doable. Staff were pleasant and happy to now be part of KOA. Better TV reception with our antenna than their cable. We would go back and perhaps take advantage of their Nashville shuttle and bus tours that pick up guests at the campground. We camped at Nashville North KOA ( formerly Nashville Country RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Kil-So-Qua Recreation Area, Huntington, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We chose Kil-so-Qua only because of the close proximity to our son's home. Perfect for short visits, primitive sites for tents and back-ins, some of which accommodate our 38' RV. Some 50 amp, but no water or sewer. There is a dump station in the park down by the reservoir. No reservations allowed, it is the honor system using an envelope provided. We have been happy overall with the sites we have chosen, some are more level than others. Outdoor johns, really nasty and no shower facilities. We camped at Kil-So-Qua Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.
