Great desert location and hiking trails. Mountain views. Very good paved pads. Most are level. Two generator periods. No showers in rest-rooms. This is a tranquil spot with no hook-ups. Fair visitor center. Some of park roads are closed. (border problems) Close to Mexico. We camped at Twin Peaks Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Large, mostly open park. Some semi-permanent. Great area for families(pool, playground equip, ball fields, etc.) Catch & release pond. Game room, cafe, and store on premises. Laundry room also. This is more of a destination spot as it is 20-30 minutes from nearest Door County attraction. We camped at Quietwoods South Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Penninsula State Park, Fish Creek, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2006 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Great location for exploring Door County. Very good bike trails. If you like an open camp site in which you can see the clouds, sky, etc., this may not be for you as it is heavily wooded with little visibility other than the trees. Surcharge fee for non-residents. We camped at Penninsula State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ratcliff Lake, Kennard, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2006 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

National Forest campground. Sites for RV's and tents. Some sites have electricity, water, and or sewer hook-ups. Reservations through Reserve America. Many RV sites are "tight" and only suitable for RV's under 28'. All sites are in the trees. Site aprons and roads are mostly unlevel and in need of repair. Overall, facilities are old, in need of repair, but most are usable. We camped at Ratcliff Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Promise Land Campground, Bloomfield, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2006 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Good spot to spend the night. Ownership is in flux. Mostly unlevel grassy sites with a nice view of a good size lake. (almost lakeside) Much work is needed from sites to restrooms, but for the price and electricity, it is a good deal. Friendly staff. We camped at Promise Land Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fall Lake Campground, Ely, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2006 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

One of my favorite campgrounds! As mentioned, beautiful setting. Paved and level aprons. Sites for big rigs decrease with length, but if you are persistent, you will find something. Few pull-thru sites. Reservation for particular sites available thru Reserve America. Rest rooms are very clean and well serviced by staff. Good boat ramp and scenic lake with Loons. Very marginal cell service,(hill by water tower) if anyone interested. Nice beach and play-ground which is away from most of the campground. Very efficient-helpful staff. We camped at Fall Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice open park with friendly-helpful office person. 10-15 minutes North of Duluth. Cleanest rest rooms I have encountered in awhile. Nice rec area. Aprons are gravel but reasonably level. Several small lakes and wandering geese added to ambience. Very peaceful setting. We camped at Ogston RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

O'Neil Creek Campground, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2006 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We were in a pull-thru area which was reasonably spacious. However, no close restrooms-showers. This is a predominantly seasonal family recreation area. The non pull thru areas were very crowded. OK for a night, but this park is geared to families with kids. Friendly and helpful office person. We camped at O'Neil Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Turquoise Valley Golf Course and RV Park, Naco, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2006 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Average parking lot campground. Restrooms, laundry facilities, rec. area are fine. 18 hole, well-maintained golf course across the street is the main attraction for many campers. (a lot of winter seasonal folks) Very reasonable bar and restaurant as well. Camper golfers get daily and season discounts. Wi-fi covers part of campground and is coming for most if not all of it. We camped at Turquoise Valley Golf Course and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
