Ocala Sun RV Resort, Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Ocala Sun RV Resort is centrally located between Gainesville and Orlando and is situated on Highway 484 in Ocala, Florida, approximately ½-mile from I-75, so it's very convenient to get off/on I-75 during your travels. There is a Pilot located at the exit off of I-75, as well as a couple of restaurants. If you need supplies, there is a Walmart about a mile down the road from the RV resort. Accommodations at the park consist of spacious grass sites, but fairly well maintained, and are mainly sunny and open, so great if you have a satellite dish. If not, they offer free cable-TV (approximately 70 channels to choose from) as well as free Wi-Fi. The sites are fairly level and offer full hookup (50 AMP, sewer, and water). Pull through sites seemed a bit more spacious then the back-in sites. Pool looked refreshing, but our time there did not allow us to take advantage of it. Staff was great and we would definitely return to this park in the future. We stayed here in a 40' motor coach. We camped at Ocala Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Go to visit Don Garlit's Museum of Drag Racing. They also have antique cars there for those that aren't into drag racing vehicles. Allow yourself 4-5 to visit the facility as there is a LOT of stuff to see.

Silver Palms RV Resort, Okeechobee, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Silver Palms RV Resort is located approximately ¼-mile north of Lake Okeechobee. If you are looking for a resort to buy into, where you are away from the hustle and bustle of life, then I would highly recommend this resort. Lots can also be rented, but call the office as rates depend on dates of stay, length of stay, and location. The lots are good sized, approximately 40' x 70', and includes 30/50 AMP, sewer, water, and free Wi-Fi. The resort offers a lot of activities, such as crafts, dancing, various exercise programs, billiards, bingo, bunco, various card games, as well as pickle ball, volleyball, golf, and biking. So much to do!! And the pool is absolutely beautiful and offers a full-service snack bar with beer and wine, DJ's and live music. We stayed here in a 40' motor coach and, when the time comes, would definitely consider this resort as one that we would settle down in. Great getaway from everything! We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins, Ridgeway, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Little Cedar Creek Campground is located on E. Peach Road, about 2-miles off of I-77 (Exit #32) in Ridgeway, SC. We have stayed at this campground twice, once for 2-nights in October 2015 and then again for 4-nights in May 2016. Check-in at both times was quick and efficient. The managers, Chris and Janelle, whom we met during our first stay, were very nice and friendly. On our second stay, we met the owner, a very nice fellow who was just as friendly. The campground, which is open year round, offers 42 RV sites and 5 cabins. All RV sites offer 30/50 AMP, sewer and water. They do accept big rigs and offer a few pull through sites as well. This campground only accepts cash, no credit cards, nor do they do not offer a swimming pool, Wi-Fi, or cable TV, but if you need a place to go for a short duration, or just to get off of the road for the night, this is a very nice/safe campground. The campground does have a laundry room and a shower room, a bit small, but extremely clean. There were quite a few full time residents here, but all of the units were very well kept and tidy. We stayed here in a 40' motor coach and will definitely return when in the area. Great getaway from everything! We camped at Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Club Naples RV Resort, Naples, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Club Naples RV Resort is located on Beck Road in Naples, Florida, just off of I-75 (Exit # 101), and offers approximately 305 sites consisting of tent sites, RV sites, and park models. The majority of the sites are back-in, with only 12 pull through sites. Quite a few of the sites are grass sites, so when it rains the sites gets extremely water logged and muddy. Although Florida has a state law in regard to sewer connections being raised up off of the ground, there are quite a few RV's within the park that are in violation. Management does not seem to be addressing these issues either and could be a concern if the sewer lines are not being properly cared for, especially when it rains. Entry/exiting the facility from Beck Road, coaches and rigs have ample turning room; however, once inside of the resort, maneuvering cars/coaches/rigs down the narrow interior roadways is extremely difficult, so use EXTREME CAUTION when navigating the interior roads.Check-in at the facility was quick and the receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. She gave us our information and a map of the park so that we could find our site. After unhooking our toad, we began to navigate the narrow roads to our site, only to discover that the sites were worse in regard to space. The sites are EXREMELY close together with coaches and cars parked just inches from the roadways. Although my husband is a skilled motor coach driver, it took two of us to navigate him backing up (one in the front and one in the back) so that we wouldn't accidently hit anyone. Folks, when I say that this place is tight, I'm not exaggerating. We stayed here for almost a month in December 2015 in a 40' motor home, and with the number of RV parks in the surrounding area there are to choose from, we would not stay here again. Most of our neighbors feel the same way. We camped at Club Naples RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Point Of View Key Largo RV Resort (Closed), Key Largo, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

Point of View Key Largo RV Resort is located on Key Largo at Mile Marker 99 Bayside, approximately 30 miles south of Homestead, Florida on US-1. Use caution when approaching the resort as it's very easy to miss the entrance with all of the signs/buildings along the road. The resort is supposed to be gated; however, the gate was not in operation while we were there. Check-in at Point of View was quick and the staff was very nice. One of the staff members escorted us to our site and showed us where all of the hookups were. Point of View has approximately 110 sites and caters to RV's only. Maximum RV length is 60 feet (width is approximately 30 feet), so one has plenty of space at their site, which is either pull through or back-in. I did find the configuration of the park layout in regard to sites a bit confusing. The entire RV park is made up of stones, so there are no concrete sites; however, all of the sites are very level. Connections for sewer, water, and electricity were easy to connect to. Cable TV is offered as well and consisted of about 45-channels. Free Wi-Fi was offered through the park and we had a strong signal at our site. Although there is reduced traffic at night on the roadways, sites 43-48 back up right against the highway, so if one is a light sleeper, select a more interior site. The pool at the resort was clean and very well maintained, and the deck offered an ample amount of lounge chairs for guests to relax in while admiring the stunning view of Buttonwood Sound. The clubhouse/fitness room, as well as one of two bathhouses, were located next to the pool house and were very clean and well maintained. Two resort guest docks for fishing were available for guests, as well as a boat dock (additional fee for boat slip) for those that had boats with them. A laundry facility was also on site, but since we did not utilize it, I cannot comment on it. We camped at Point Of View Key Largo RV Resort (Closed) in a Motorhome.

Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground, Fort Pierce, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This gated RV resort is located in Fort Pierce Florida, just off of I-95 south at Exit 129, about 18-miles from Jensen Beach or Hutchinson Island, so it's a great location to stay at. After exiting I-95 south, the directions (Google Maps, Waze, etc.) will tell you to turn right onto Crossroads Parkways at the light. The street sign at the light, however, says Peters Road, not Crossroads Parkway. Turn right onto Peters Road and go straight, as that turns into Crossroads Parkway. Treasure Coast RV Resort has around 165 sites and caters to RV's only (no tents, no mobile homes, and no park models), which is a refreshing pace from the places that we've stayed. The resort does accept big rigs and they offer 4 pull through sites for overnighters only. All other sites are back-in, but there is ample room to maneuver. The staff will escort you to your site and help you back in. All sites are concrete pads and very level and offers some type of shade/landscaping. We used our satellite dish and had no problems obtaining a signal. Free Wi-Fi is offered to all guests at their site and the connection that we had from our site, Site # 117, was very strong. Connections for water, sewer, electric, and cable TV (included in your daily rate) are easy to connect to and all sewer hoses (per Saint Lucie Health Department) must be self-draining, airtight (use a donut), and placed on a raised platform. The laundry room is quite large and has a covered screened in patio on the back where one can sit and read while doing laundry. The washers and dryers are very well maintained and extremely clean. The resort also offers a swimming pool, various activities, and free popcorn is offered throughout the day. There is a beautiful pond on the property with benches placed along the pond so one can watch the fish and the birds. Restrooms were also very well maintained and extremely clean. This resort is by far the cleanest, most well maintained park we have ever been in! We camped at Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this KOA last year and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return this year on our way back to Florida. I have to admit, the first time through we enjoyed it so much more than the second time around.
The campground is located on Route 60, just off of the I-64 interstate in Milton, WV. Foxfire Road leading into the park off of Route 60 is a tight turn if you are heading eastbound, and can easily be missed if heading westbound as Foxfire is on the south side of the road, so use caution when approaching Foxfire Road from either direction. The park consists of approximately 120 sites offering RV sites, tent sites, and cabins/lodges. The majority of the RV sites are pull-through, with the exception of the ones around the perimeter, which are back-in. Although there were plenty of empty sites within the park when we arrived, we were sandwiched between two other RV's. People that we spoke to within our area noted that they too were sandwiched in and didn't understand why they didn't space people out more as they weren't full. Amenities offered at the campground include family restrooms, shower facilities, laundry room, restrooms, LP gas, pet walk, playground, horseshoes, lake for swimming, cable TV (70 stations), catch and release pond, fire ring, and picnic table. Wi-Fi is available as well, but they were having problems with their service, so we had difficulty in connecting. We stayed here for2-nights in a 40' Class A motor coach and would stay again on our way through the area. We camped at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA in a Motorhome.

Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA, Kingsland, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is situated right off of I-95 at Exit 1 near the Georgia/Florida border and is convenient for north/southbound travelers. Noise at night from I-95 traffic was not an issue. Use "Entrance 1" when coming in off of Scrubby Bluff Road when entering the KOA property. Check-in was seamless and, Johnnie, the camp worker, was efficient and thorough. Nick guided us to our site and showed us where our hookups were. The campground offers some extremely tall pine trees, but they are not a hindrance when navigating/parking/setting up. All of the sites at the campground are pull-through with full hookups (30/50 Amp) or water and electric sites, as well as group/individual tent sites, and cabins. All sites, with the exception of tent sites have cable (offering 36-channels). Amenities offered are propane, dump station, store, basketball, playground, showers, laundry, horseshoes, fitness center, fire ring, media/game room, Wi-Fi, and swimming pool. For those that have dogs, there is a pet run as well. The majority of the sites are gravel, with a few offering concrete pads, however, the pads were in desperate need of being replaced. Roads throughout the park are gravel and RV sites are decent sized. The site that we had, C4, was level and was long enough to accommodate our RV and toad (as were all sites). The Wi-Fi in the park is decent, although it can be a bit slow when there are a lot of people in the park, but it is very good considering some Wi-Fi's in other parks. Complimentary Belgium waffles and/or pancakes, along with juice and coffee, are served to guests every morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Donations are accepted as well. Pizza and BBQ can be delivered to your site between the hours of 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Garbage is picked up at the site for overnight guests between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. We stayed here for 2-nights in our Class A motorhome and would stay here again when passing through. We camped at Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA in a Motorhome.

Tanglewood Park Campground, Clemmons, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located in Clemmons, NC, just off of I-40, but convenient to Winston-Salem, NC and is one of the best campgrounds that we've stayed at to date. The park itself a 1,100 acre park and you feel as though you are in the country, not close to a city.
Once you turn off of US-158/Clemmons Road pay attention to the signage for entering the Welcome Center (for check-in), or you'll pass right by it. The signs are painted green, down low and, I felt, a bit hard to read, so use caution when coming off of Clemmons Road.
The check-in process is very quick and the staff throughout the park is very nice. Roads into/out of park are wide and paved and the camp host will greet you and take you to your site. All of the campsites are back-in, paved, level, and shaded under tall willow oaks. The campground offers 44 sites all with electric (20/30/50 AMP), cable (75-channels), water, sewage connection, picnic table and Wi-Fi. Although their brochure states that Wi-Fi is available at the picnic shelter and most sites, we had no difficulty in picking up their strong Wi-Fi signal at our site (site # 39). Fire rings are not permitted but they do allow the use of grills for cooking. There is no fee for visitors to visit you at your site, but they must obey all campground rules. Motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters, golf carts and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground/park.
Tanglewood Park (different area from the campground) offers an outdoor pool and a water playground, miles of hike and bike trails, horseback riding fishing, two championship golf courses, tennis courts and an Arboretum and Fragrance Garden. The normal rate to get into Tanglewood Park is $2.00; however, the fee to enter the park is waived for those staying at the campground. Definitely take advantage of going into the park as it is simply BEAUTIFUL!
Stayed 2-nights and will absolutely stay again! We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Our original reservation for this campground was to stay only 2-nights. However, we enjoyed it so much that we extended our reservation twice, staying for a total of one week. The campground is located on State Road 5 in Shipshewana. Entrance/Exit is very wide and easy to navigate and the staff is very friendly. Check-in is an easy process and you are given a very well detailed map of the park to navigate to your site. Interior roads are gravel, easy to navigate, and very well maintained. All RV sites are pull-through (with the exception of perimeter sites), good sized, level, and long enough for big-rigs that are towing. The majority of the sites are full service (water, electric, and sewer), but they do offer some sites for those that desire electric or water and electric only. Additional amenities include shower facilities, restrooms, laundry and a dog walk. Free Wi-Fi is available and seemed to work well at our site (site # 96). The park is largely open to the sky so it's great for those that have satellite TV. Fire rings are not provided, however, above ground fire rings are allowed, or one can use the community fire pit near the gazebo. The park is conveniently located close to the Shipshewana Flea Market (held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays), as well as several other shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. We stayed here for a total of 7-nights in our Class A motorhome and would highly recommend this campground to others. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Motorhome.

Kankakee South KOA, Chebanse, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this KOA in August as we were visiting friends in the area. The KOA is close to I-55 and is convenient to Chicago (approximately 1-hour north). The Kankakee River State Park is nearby where one can rent horses and go horseback riding on the trails. Entrance/exit to this KOA is tight, so use caution. Interior roads are dirt and the campground workers were working on interior road improvements while we were there. Hopefully the interior roads are better now. The park is small and the sites are rather close together, not all that level, but are long for big-rigs/toads. Amenities offered are fire rings, Wi-Fi, garbage pick-up at site, swimming pool, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, laundry room, propane filling station, restrooms, and game room. Staff at this KOA are awesome! We stayed here for a total of 4-nights in our Class A motorhome. We camped at Kankakee South KOA in a Motorhome.

Massena Intl Kampground, Massena, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is conveniently located on the U.S. side in Massena, NY, approximately 5-minutes from the Ontario Canadian border, and offers over 100 RV sites, as well as a few cabins and tent sites. Entrance/exit to the campground is easy for big rigs to maneuver. The majority of the campsites are back-in, although there are a few that are pull through. The lawns are very well manicured, roads are very well maintained, and sites are level. Guests and staff are very friendly. Very little shade throughout the campground, so satellite reception is almost guaranteed, however, cable TV (77 stations) is offered on many sites. Amenities at the campground consist of swimming pool, restrooms, shower facilities, firewood, LP gas, laundry facilities, groceries (limited), gift shop, pavilion, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, playground, dump station, and 20/30/50 AMP service. We stayed here for 3-nights in our Class A motorhome and we would definitely stay here again when passing through the area. We camped at Massena Intl Kampground in a Motorhome.

Lake Champagne Campground, Randolph Center, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Lake Champagne, which sits on 100-acres, is conveniently located on Route 66, just off of I-89 (Exit # 4) in Randolph Center, VT. The campground is close to attractions such as Ben & Jerry's ice cream plant, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, the granite quarries in Barre, or an easy drive to Burlington, VT.
Check in was quick and the staff were quite nice. Although a site had been previously assigned to us when I booked the reservation, a larger site was given to us when we checked in so that we wouldn't have to unhitch our tow dolly. Quite appreciated! A large brown bag was given to us at check-in for our recyclables and that was appreciated as well.
The campground is set up in a "tiered" fashion which is quite nice, as you don't have anyone directly in front of you inhibiting your view. Sites offer shade or sun, your choice, and I don't think you will be disappointed with any site as this campground is beautiful!
Restrooms and showers were very clean and the grounds were immaculate. A large picnic area, as well as a large grass area and pavilion were available for get-togethers and yard games.
Amenities at the campground include free Wi-Fi (with repeaters throughout the campground), laundry room, beach and large lake for swimming, and cable TV that offers 25 channels to choose from. The laundry room was a bit small, 3 washers and 3 dryers, but they were very clean.
We stayed in a 40' Motorhome and would stay at this campground again. We camped at Lake Champagne Campground in a Motorhome.

1000 Islands / Association Island KOA , Henderson Harbor, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Prior to arriving at this campground, my husband and I were excited to stay here. Once we were on the island though, our excitement faded. The best part about the island is the views. Simply amazing! The campground is located on an island in Lake Ontario and is connected by a very long causeway from the mainland. Roadway from the mainland to the island is narrow and curvy in some spots. I would not want to meet another large rig coming from the opposing side. Shopping is quite a ways away, so stock up on needed items before driving out to the island. The island itself is quite large and is separated into two sections, Sunset & Westward Side and Sunrise & Leeward Side. We were on the Sunset & Westward Side, site # E04. The island has an awful smell of fish which, given that it's on water can't be helped, but we weren't expecting it to be that strong. Also, we were a bit back from the water so our rig was plagued by tiny flying insects outside. Every time we went in or out of the rig, we had to move quickly to reduce the number of flying insects from getting in. We stayed here in a 40' Class A motor coach and I don't know that we would stay at this particular KOA again. We camped at 1000 Islands / Association Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is conveniently located on State Highway 3, approximately 14 miles from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park and 2 miles from Ellsworth. Entrance to park is large for easy in/out access. Check-In was easy and the ladies manning the desk were extremely helpful and accommodating. Interior roads were a bit bumpy and in need of a repair, so take it easy when traveling in/out with your rig. The campground offers shaded areas located near the front of the park and are primarily back-in sites and closer together. Pull-through open sites, which are fairly spacious and long, are in the back of the park for large rigs/satellite users. All sites were gravel and level. We asked for an open site in order to use our satellite dish and were assigned site # 209, and later site # 225 when we decided to add an extra night. The park offers only one laundry site for the entire park, but it was extremely clean. Other amenities included shower house (we did not use, so cannot comment on condition), Wi-Fi (at Recreation Room and Pavilion), fire ring, dump station, propane filing, recycling, playground, basketball, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. Every day, from late June to early September, the park has a free daily shuttle service to the Acadia Gateway Center. You need to check with the office staff for the schedule. Visitors to your campsite will be charged a per-person visitor fee, so inquire about that if you plan on having guests over. We stayed here for 4-nights in our Class A motorhome. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.
