Topeekeegee Yugnee Park / Whispering Pines, Hollywood, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Nice county park. Paved roads. The entrance is a bit tight for a big rig. You don't have to pay during the week and you get a 'pass' for use on the weekends. Office staff were super. I-95 traffic is terrible, but this inexpensive park made up for the stress. Laundry was clean. Didn't use the rest rooms. We had site 59 or 29 (I don't remember) but it was on a corner and it was a little tough turning 90 degrees to get the motorhome on the pad, but we went slowly and all was good. Road within the park is a bit narrow. Alos, as one reviewer 'complained', if you return to the park after hours, you need to enter through the exit lane. Not a problem as traffic is not exiting after the park closes. We camped at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park / Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

Avalon Landing RV Park, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Had a nice waterfront site. Site was a pull in and the utilities were on the correct side for a pull in. Office staff was very pleasant. We used this as a base to go to Pensacola Naval Air Station. Short drive. Asphalt sites were level. We didn't use the laundry room. There were thunderstorms so the pool was closed. Roads were wide. Overall, it was a nice small park. We camped at Avalon Landing RV Park in a Motorhome.

Richards RV Park, Saint Bernard, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Great location for visiting New Orleans. 15 mile drive straight into NO. 40 MPH, so it takes about 30 minutes. Nice shady park. The owner was great. She was out of town so she asked a neighbor to show uis our site. We paid her the next afternoon after sightseeing in the morning. The sites could use some gravel, but they were grassy and level. Our Antenna picked up 30 channels, so no cable was needed. The sewers could also use some updating, but they worked sufficiently. Laundry could use a little "finishing". It was OK, but no signage telling us that the dryers needed $2, not $1.50 as in the washers. Also would be nice to know how long the $2 ran...55 minutes. Wireless didn't work at our site (in the trees) but worked fine near the laundry and office. They only take cash. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will stay here again if we get to NO. We camped at Richards RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed four days. Very clean. A bit busy, but the lake and nearby water park account for a lot of traffic. A bit pricey, even for a KOA. thank you to the previous reviewer who told us about the easier exit. going straight out the driveway will cause you to set at a stop sign and wait for the bust street to clear....a long wait. We turned left at the KOA exit and took a "mall road' behind the Walmart and we were able to turn right onto a connector and the enter the highway from a stoplight. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 10 nights. Very quiet and shady. Our site #11 was near the county road and we heard a small amount of road noise, but nothing unbearable. Our water pressure was low, but we didn't complain. We simply switched to our water pump for showers and switched back to park water for all else. Very convenient to St Augustine attractions, beaches and shopping. We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Close to World Golf Hall of Fame, beaches, shopping. If you miss the 'quick' left after exiting I-95, simply proceed a quarter mile north on Fl-16 and turn left on Tom's Road.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted to stay two days and the only available site was a "premium". Cement patio, covered picnic area, a porch swing and a brick firepit...all very nice at a cost of $67. Staff was super great/friendly. We didn't use the pool and it appeared to be locked. level site, very roomy. Our big concern was NO TRASH SERVICE. You had to drop your trash at the entry dumpsters. And they were overflowing with garbage. No cans anywhere near the campsites and none at the end of the rows. I know you can save money by not employing people to collect trash and not buying cans to set throughout the park, but having to A) collect your trash in your motorhome and then B) "lug" it to the entry dumpsters was not a good experience. And for $60+, you'd think they could afford trash service of some kind. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Carlsbad Caverns are about a 50 min drive. The caverns were interesting. A mile and a half hike down very steep path, big room at the bottom and then a mile and a half hike back up very steep path. Very nice scenery within the cave.

Yellowstone River RV Park and Campground, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Billings RV parks are way overpriced. But as one reviewer put it...They charge high prices "because they can".

Yellowstone River Park was nice. The spaces are a bit tight. Two RV's per site, opposite facing. Many of the sites were taken by long-term/permanent residents. Propane tanks, wheel covers, even a couple attached decks. It's the owner's right to sell long-term sites, but we travelers would like the bigger spaces, too.

The dog run needed better cleaning. Upon arrival, we called and asked if someone could pick up the unpicked up poop. They sent someone out, but it would be nice if 1) dog owners would be more respectful and pick up after their dogs and 2) the management would ensure the cleaner-up-er person did a better job. We actually watched one morning when the gentleman in the golf cart drove up, opened the poop disposal, closed the poop disposal and drove away. He didn't empty the container and he didn't pick up any poop. One morning a nice lady, while watching her dog, actually picked up poop from other dogs. Our site was across the road from the pet area, so we got a good view of all the happenings.

The check-in ladies were very nice. We would stay here again if if the area. We camped at Yellowstone River RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Red Trail Campground, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for two nights in order to Golf at Bully Pulpit golf Course on our way to Billings MT. Previous reviews complained about the crowdedness. Yes, the park is tight, but it isn't as bad as some others we've stayed at. The water pressure was good. We felt is was a good value. Other campgrounds were either closed for the season a bit "out of town" for our taste. We would stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Red Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Medora tourism is closed after Sept 10. The musical was over. The Pitchfork Fondue was closed. The McAllister House was closed. We basically played the Bully Pulpit Golf Course and ate at Boots Bar and Grill. The Golf Course was beautiful (and tough to play) and Boots was great. They have a Rueben Pizza that was very good.

Pioneer Park, Torrington, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived in the afternoon and found an open site. This is a city park. Water spigots require a combination for unlocking. The City Hall or the Police can give the combination to you. The sites have a cement slab and picnic table. Very level. Plenty of room between sites for our slideouts. No sewer connection, but the dump station is close-by. We would stay here again if we are traveling through the area. We camped at Pioneer Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Torrington golf course was just a mile away from the campground. The course is closed on Monday mornings...until 1pm. Nice course, but the back nine has some flood damage and isn't as nice as the front nine.

The Bronco's Bar and Grill has great hamburgers and adult beverages. Non-alcoholics drinks, too.

Milton Heights Campground, Milton, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I am rating this campground low due to a couple issues. 1) Their website lists a "heated outdoor pool". During our stay the pool was not heated. We were told "it was too cold to heat the water." Apparently, you only get a heated outdoor pool when the weather is warm outside...yet you pay for a heated outdoor pool. 2) The wireless strength was terrible. We were in site J21. The wireless antenna was in J17 and we still had only one bar. Even when we walked up to J17, we only had one bar. The office lady told me there were some issues, but the strength should be good...it was not.

The office lady was helpful in suggesting we take the train into Toronto rather then deal with traffic. We appreciated that. We camped at Milton Heights Campground in a Motorhome.

Black Bear Campground, Florida, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We planned a week-long stay here in order to visit NYC. One day into our stay, we lost all electricity in our RV. (Inverter went bad, we found out later). We had signed up for the NYC tour. The manager was kind enough to cancel our trip as we had to work to get the inverter replaced. Showers were clean. The staff was very friendly. Spaces were spacious. The campground is about an hour's drive into the outmost subway station or you can drive about 20 min. and take a train into NYC. About the same amount of time getting to Grand Central, either way. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Staff was very nice and helpful. We stayed here while getting our motorhome serviced. They nicely placed us near the showers. The spaces are super spacious. Showers were very clean. There are a lot of permanent campers and for the most part they keep their spaces neat and attractive. We would stay here again if we come to the area. We camped at Rondout Valley Resort Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA, Streetsboro, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this campground for several days while visiting the Cleveland/Canton area. We were in the back, behind some pine trees. While the area was great for peace and quiet, the Wi-Fi was terrible. We didn't use the pool, but it was open on the day after we arrived. We would stay here again if we visit Cleveland. We camped at Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA in a Motorhome.
