Cozy Acres Campground, Powhatan, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Older campground with gravel sites. While sites in "40's" are big rig accessible, they are heavily shaded making satellite reception difficult. Leveling was a challenge. We moved to the "Premium" site that had a paver stone patio, picnic table, level and fire pit overlooking a pond that could use aeration. Showers, laundry, etc were located in the main office building (might be a long walk for some) and we didn't use them. No Wifi nor CATV were available. OTA was limited. We camped at Cozy Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Absolutely beautiful park! Well-maintained, spacious, spotless gravel sites. Bathrooms were clean. Didn't use the wifi. Satellite reception was excellent. Recreation areas for kids were superb featuring splash park and pools. Movie night and popcorn were a big hit for the grandkids. Amenities, including bus service to DC, are too many to list. This is a top notch RV park and one of the best ones we have stayed at. There is some highway noise in the area we stayed at, so check the site map and choose your site accordingly. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

National Road Campground, Zanesville, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Located less than a mile from Highway 70 with no highway noise. Large, well maintained campground with two ponds. Clean restrooms and well manicured lawn and sites. Didn't use the wifi. Satellite reception was good. Turns are challenging for a big rig, but doable. My main criticism is that I couldn't find a level site in the pull through sites (didn't see one in the campground - but there may have been some). We camped at National Road Campground in a Motorhome.

Fox Den Acres, New Stanton, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Large big rig friendly campground (numerous large pull through gravel sites) with easy access from PennsylvaniaTurnpike. Mix of permanent residents and transients. We stayed one night. Bathrooms were clean. On-site cable TV was clear and crisp. Internet was good. Satellite was accessible. There appeared to be activities planned. There is a lake, pool and playground that we did not visit since we headed out early. We camped at Fox Den Acres in a Motorhome.

Whip In RV Park, Big Spring, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was a was a good overnight stop that accommodates big rigs. Their is nothing fancy about the park. It is populated primarily by long term oil field workers (as are most parks in the area). That said it is clean, safe with a nice dog park. The owner is great and shows a sincere interest in his tenant's comfort. A no frills park in a no frills area that exceeded our expectations. We camped at Whip In RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA, Gaffney, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stay with easy access to I-85. We had to prolong our stay due to a tire issue and the staff was very accommodating. Sites are long, level gravel pads with easily accessible hookups. Interior roads were navigable for big rigs. They deliver Pizza and wings to your RV as well as firewood. We camped at Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA in a Motorhome.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Great for overnight stay. My 43 foot motorhome fit on the level concrete site but we had to unhook our tow. It is a safe secure park affiliated with the casino. Great dog walk along the river. We called ahead and arrived after the office closed and found no paperwork. A phone call to the number posted on the door to the Ameristar Hotel resolved the issue and we were assigned site 31. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Don Carter State Park, Gainesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed staying here. Site was level, clean and well groomed. We backed in our 38-foot motorhome on a gravel site with a great water view. Fifty amp and freshwater hookups were solid. While there is no black tank dumping on site (there are dump stations centrally located) grey water can be dumped into a marked drainage spot on site containing charcoal. Plenty of hiking trails and places for pets to exercise (leash rules apply). We camped at Don Carter State Park in a Motorhome.

Lee Hi Campground, Lexington, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is located behind a large Travel Center and was adequate for a one night stop. The sites are located a few hundred yards behind large overnight truck stop and was full. That said, truck noise was minimal. Our initial security concerns were unfounded. There is a gas station and IHOP on site. We could not level on our site and hookups required full length of electrical cable. Sewer run was long and we did not hookup. If visiting Blue Ridge Parkway or Lexington for a few days, we would flook elsewhere. We camped at Lee Hi Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, Santa Claus, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

The park has a Christmas Theme and is not big rig friendly. All sites are narrow back in accessible through narrow tree covered roads. The park supports the adjacent amusement theme park. Internet was good. Couldn't deploy satellite due to trees. Nice camp stores. Lots of "park rangers" to help back you back in. This is a large park that almost mandates renting golf carts (and they rent them). That said, there is more of a "feel" of camping in the woods. The park is clean and well managed. Kids would love this place. We camped at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Blanco River RV Park, LLC, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Really enjoyed staying here. The owner and staff make this place special. We will return when visiting Pagosa Springs. The spaces were tight during Labor Day weekend, but the sense of comraderie with the staff and fellow campers overcome any inconvenience. Wifi was good. Verizon was non existent. Satellite was good. Be advised that Blanco shares the space with another CG. No big deal, but make sure you follow the signs and check in the correct campground. We camped at Blanco River RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

This was the perfect location to experience Monument Valley. The campground is situated in a small canyon with a beautiful view of MV. Service was good. While I would not classify the sites as Big Rig Friendly, they are certainly manageable. Trees adjacent to the sites prevented awning and satellite deployment. Staff was helpful juggling sites to try to make it work. Water pressure was good as well as internet. Be sure to use surge protector/low voltage protection. When CG was full experienced low voltage at several sites. It would also new nice if the staff cleaned the BBQ stands. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground, Bryce Canyon, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent campground located within 2 miles of the Bryce Canyon National Park Entrance. Our site was one of the largest we have encountered with a grass patio, picnic table, and firepit. Wifi was good. Water pressure was 60 psi and 50 amp power was stable. This is truly a big rig friendly park. Great value! We camped at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Bryce Canyon is a must see. Route 12 from the CG to Boulder, Utah is a stunning drive and should not be missed. The cafe in Boulder provides an excellent lunch with great pies. The General Store at the CG is a souvenir hunter's dream. The Sinclair Gas Station offers an RV wash.

Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this park. Located on the desert edge it provided spacious level sites with full hookups. This is one of the best maintained CGs we have visited with two temperature controlled pools, one for adults and one for children, an RV wash facility and pet area. The winery, on property, offers free wine tasting and a superb restaurant. Garbage is picked up at your site daily. The main office closes at 3pm so make reservations if you plan to arrive after. We would not stay anywhere else in Pahrump. We camped at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.
