Don Carter state park, Gainesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed staying here. Site was level, clean and well groomed. We backed in our 38-foot motorhome on a gravel site with a great water view. Fifty amp and freshwater hookups were solid. While there is no black tank dumping on site (there are dump stations centrally located) grey water can be dumped into a marked drainage spot on site containing charcoal. Plenty of hiking trails and places for pets to exercise (leash rules apply). We camped at Don Carter state park in a Motorhome.

Lee Hi Campground, Lexington, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is located behind a large Travel Center and was adequate for a one night stop. The sites are located a few hundred yards behind large overnight truck stop and was full. That said, truck noise was minimal. Our initial security concerns were unfounded. There is a gas station and IHOP on site. We could not level on our site and hookups required full length of electrical cable. Sewer run was long and we did not hookup. If visiting Blue Ridge Parkway or Lexington for a few days, we would flook elsewhere. We camped at Lee Hi Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, Santa Claus, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

The park has a Christmas Theme and is not big rig friendly. All sites are narrow back in accessible through narrow tree covered roads. The park supports the adjacent amusement theme park. Internet was good. Couldn't deploy satellite due to trees. Nice camp stores. Lots of "park rangers" to help back you back in. This is a large park that almost mandates renting golf carts (and they rent them). That said, there is more of a "feel" of camping in the woods. The park is clean and well managed. Kids would love this place. We camped at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Blanco River RV Park, LLC, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Really enjoyed staying here. The owner and staff make this place special. We will return when visiting Pagosa Springs. The spaces were tight during Labor Day weekend, but the sense of comraderie with the staff and fellow campers overcome any inconvenience. Wifi was good. Verizon was non existent. Satellite was good. Be advised that Blanco shares the space with another CG. No big deal, but make sure you follow the signs and check in the correct campground. We camped at Blanco River RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

This was the perfect location to experience Monument Valley. The campground is situated in a small canyon with a beautiful view of MV. Service was good. While I would not classify the sites as Big Rig Friendly, they are certainly manageable. Trees adjacent to the sites prevented awning and satellite deployment. Staff was helpful juggling sites to try to make it work. Water pressure was good as well as internet. Be sure to use surge protector/low voltage protection. When CG was full experienced low voltage at several sites. It would also new nice if the staff cleaned the BBQ stands. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground, Bryce Canyon, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent campground located within 2 miles of the Bryce Canyon National Park Entrance. Our site was one of the largest we have encountered with a grass patio, picnic table, and firepit. Wifi was good. Water pressure was 60 psi and 50 amp power was stable. This is truly a big rig friendly park. Great value! We camped at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bryce Canyon is a must see. Route 12 from the CG to Boulder, Utah is a stunning drive and should not be missed. The cafe in Boulder provides an excellent lunch with great pies. The General Store at the CG is a souvenir hunter's dream. The Sinclair Gas Station offers an RV wash.

Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this park. Located on the desert edge it provided spacious level sites with full hookups. This is one of the best maintained CGs we have visited with two temperature controlled pools, one for adults and one for children, an RV wash facility and pet area. The winery, on property, offers free wine tasting and a superb restaurant. Garbage is picked up at your site daily. The main office closes at 3pm so make reservations if you plan to arrive after. We would not stay anywhere else in Pahrump. We camped at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails, Menifee, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects non-member status and includes resort fees and taxes. We stay here because it is close to family. The park has improved since our last visit two years ago. Gravel sites (depth of gravel varies significantly from site to site). I had a malfunctioning 50 amp breaker that maintenance immediately fixed. Hookups were easily accessible. The CG is gated with a manned gate 24 hours. Pool area was large and clean. Great country store. Non-member rate is pricey, but our experience didn't motivate us to consider a membership. We camped at Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Sweetwater Summit Regional Park, Bonita, California

Overall Rating:

This is a great campground located 20 minutes outside of SanDiego. Sites are concrete, level and spacious surrounded by shrubs and bushes. Staff are very nice and accommodating. NIce playground with water/splash park. The park has a rustic feel with modern conveniences. Heed the previous comments about ants. Set up your barrier with comet like substance and you will not have a problem. We camped at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Moderately spacious level sites with easily accessible hookups. WiFi was excellent. Our surge protector tripped on low voltage several times due to low voltage. Desk clerk stated it was due to Edison lowering voltage in San Bernardino. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

Big Rig RV Park, Sturgis, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $114.00
Overall Rating:

The park is only open during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the rate reflects a seven-day pre-rally and rally rate. There are varying rates depending on the period selected. It is an excellent park located on top of a hill overlooking the Black Hills and Sturgis. There are two sets of premium sites, one with a sunset view and one with sunrise view. We stayed in the sunset view spot - stunning. Sites are large enough for any big rig. Hookups are easy to access. Water pressure varied between 20 and 40 psi. Our site was level, but others reported some issues requiring blocking. There are no trees and the ground/sites are packed gravel. Bathrooms were spotless. As with any RV Park in the Black Hills be prepared for heavy winds and storms. Since this is located on top of a hill, we did experience consistent high winds. The owners are very nice and accommodating. This is not a "Sturgis Party Park". It provides easy access to downtown Sturgis and the Black Hills riding. We camped at Big Rig RV Park in a Motorhome.
