Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is one exceptional campground. This facility is located on the side of a mountain and the top of the same mountain. It is a little intimidating going up and coming down. We were guided up by a staff member in a golf cart to our site. Our site was on the top of the mountain and the view was spectacular. The site was gravel and very level. WiFi and cable was offered and both worked very well. The registration office is also the "General Store". Not much in there to buy. They do sell ice. We are constantly looking at the pictures of beautiful mountain views and magnificent sunsets. If you are in the area make it a point to stop over at this campground. You won't be sorry. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is approximately 2 years old. The grounds and the setting are beautiful. We stayed here on our way to Asheville, NC from Virginia Beach, VA. The site we had en route was long enough fro our 36' travel trailer. The surface was gravel and for the most part fairly level. On our return from Asheville we stayed here again. For a campground that is this nice, I was surprised that there were no amenities. No ice for sale, no vending machines, etc. This is a great campground for an overnight stay. The staff was friendly and courteous. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stop on our outbound trip to Hot Spring, AR. My wife and I just started camping a few years ago and we try to stay at KOA's. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had a pull through site which is on a gravel pad. The pad sloped down in the front and was difficult to level our camper. The free cable was terrible. This KOA needs some sprucing up. We camped at Wytheville KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nashville Shores, Hermitage, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stay at this campgrounds. Adjacent to the campgrounds there is a water park that I believe is owned by Northville Shores. I also believe that the water park came before the campground. The sites are well maintained on concrete slabs. Some sites are within arms reach of each other. If you are planning to have a relaxing and quite stay you should know that the music from the water park starts at 10am and continues until closing at 8 or 9pm. There is no WiFi in the campground, you have to go to the office to use it and I have been told by another camper that they charge $5.00 for its use. The pool is in the water park so you will have to pay to enter the park They do give campers a discount. They have priced it so you have to buy a season pass if you plan to use it more than one day. The water front sites are not accessible due to a fence. No access to the lake except near the boat launch site. I for one do not recommend this camp ground. Our neighbor started to remove the axle on there travel trailer at 7:00am. It seems they don't inspect for these things. We camped at Nashville Shores in a Travel Trailer.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived on June 30, 2016. Upon checking in the the staff was very accommodating. I was given a map of the campgrounds which indicated our site #. The grounds are kept up and the lawns are mowed and cared for. No weeds, no underbrush. The site was level and cared for. We had a problem with the water spigot leaking but when we called about it, it was taken care of with in 15 minutes. Anytime, day or night it was very quiet. I would recommend this campground to one and all. It is on my list of return campgrounds. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Travel Trailer.

Close to Walmart and of course the splendor of the Blur Ridge Mountains. We hiked in the Shenandoah National Park which was awesome. Visited the Luray Caverns.

The Pines Camping Area, Salisbury, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We were pulling a 38 ft trailer and approaching the campground we had to maneuver under some low trees. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The streets in the campground are all dirt and to some degree narrow. The site that we were (supposedly a pull through) was very narrow. We had to pull to one side so we can open our slide. That did not leave very much room on the other side. We were about 6 ft from our neighbor. No WiFi. There seems to be seasonal campers there. From the ones we saw they were run down and in need of repair. The campground maintenance equipment was in full sight. It needs to be hidden somewhere. When we were ready to leave the next morning, there was a truck parked in our way of pulling straight thru. I had to back out of a pull thru site. I really was not excited about that. The turns are very tight. All in all, I would rate this as a poor experience. We camped at The Pines Camping Area in a Travel Trailer.
