Cedar Key RV Resort, Cedar Key, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Easily one of the best campgrounds we've stayed at since we retired a few years ago. Large concrete pads with full services. Staff were very friendly, as well as other campers staying here for the winter or just a few days. Almost everyone had dogs so it was a daily parade of friendly and beautiful breeds from all over the country. Club house is large with exercise room and large screen TV, which was used during NFL playoffs with snacks and drinks brought by fans. Already made reservations for next January. Deep discounts for staying a month or more. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of places for day trips and the local fishing out of Cedar Key or Steinhatchee is fantastic. Plenty of springs to visit such as Manatee Springs State Park, Homosassa Springs or Silver Springs State Park. Tony's restaurant in Cedar Key is a must for clam chowder and the art shops exhibit and sell local works. Wilson Wood Shop is a great place to stop on 5th street to visit and hear older stories of Cedar Key from a man who has done it all!

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very large, but well laid out campground with large sites. Staff were very pleasant to work with. Went to the horse park each day we were there and were given rides via golf cart. Return trips were easily arranged also. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina, Makanda, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very good campground and marina. Rented fishing boat and fished with my younger brother, which we haven't done in almost 50 years. The lake limits motors to 9.9 HP, and has good fishing most of the time. Also has pontoon boats, which I recommend for us older, heavier fishermen. Boats had small benches, but rental seats are available, which we should have gotten. Park is easy to get around in. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Our site, as was adjacent ones had electrical pedestals that were beyond 25' away, so bring an extension cord or borrow one from the marina if available.

Missouri State Fair Campground, Sedalia, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed there during this year's State Fair, so the campground was busy and crowded. We camped in the exhibitor's area, which is adjacent to the livestock barns, so had new neighbors coming in every 3 or 4 days. Couldn't ask for more friendly campers who were there showing their animals, whether pigs, horses or rabbits. Noisy from the midway, but wasn't a big problem. Streets are gravel, so can be dusty with the traffic. We camped at Missouri State Fair Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Didn't stay in the public use campground at the state fair, so don't know a lot of details, nor comment about that larger area. We will go back again to enjoy this great fair!

Cooper Creek Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Cooper Creek is within 4 miles of Branson on Taneycomo Lake, which is a prime trout fishing lake and close to all the major attractions at Branson. The camping spaces are fairly large and level. The week we were there, huge storms hit the area and many spots had runoff flowing thru. The store is well stocked for fishing needs and groceries. Good WiFi and cable. If you want to catch large trout, use their fishing guide. He's the best in the area. We camped at Cooper Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $24.00

Camped here first week of February, 2015 and was very satisfied with everything we found there. Good sized sites and easy placement of trailer. Water and electric connections were modern and easy to hook-up. Beautiful beaches and trails. Shopping is 4 miles away so get essentials before heading to the state park. We'll be back! Giant City State Park Campground, Makanda, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed here before. Most sites have electricity only so fill your tanks upon arrival. Giant City Lodge is worth visiting with good food and wonderful architecture built during CCC years. Good area to hike or fish at nearby Little Grassy Lake. 10HP limit. Watch for deer when travelling here after dark. One of the largest populations in the country. We camped at Giant City State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We camped there at the peak of Fall colors right before Halloween. Most sites are gravel with ample room for slides. Within walking distance to the Illinois River, and close to Grafton, IL. Plenty of things to do close by, or travel down, the River Road along the Mississippi River to Alton, IL. The only issue was the green firewood we purchased there. It was way too green to light easily, but other campers helped us by donating some of their seasoned sticks. We'll stay there again and do more sightseeing north. We camped at Pere Marquette State Park in a Travel Trailer.
