Caverns of Sonora RV Park, Sonora, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I am rating this park a "10". It is not a resort but it is a gem. Water and electric only. No reservations so you need to arrive early if you want to get in. If you want quiet and peaceful, this is it. The park sits right on the river. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was very easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Views are of the local low mountains and grasslands. Lanes within the park are wide enough and gravel. Sites are very long and wide and surfaced with tiny crushed granite that is very clean. Sites are easily twice the size of sites in most RV parks. Some sites have trees. And there is a bit of grass between sites. Site includes a patio with patio furniture and a great grill/smoker. Utilities are well placed and work well. AT&T Cell service and Verizon Broadband worked well. Park WIFI is great. Good cable TV and good satellite reception. A great large off leash fenced dog park. . We are here in November so no bugs. Can't wait to return to this great RV park for a day or two to revisit the caverns and just relax. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park sits right on huge Lake LBJ. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was very easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Fellow RVers were very friendly. Views of the lake are amazing. Lanes within the park are paved and wide. Sites are concrete and VERY long and level and spacious. Some sites have big trees. There is really nice grass areas between sites and all over the park. Utilities worked very well. AT&T Cell was okay. Verizon Broadband worked well. Park WIFI was good. No fenced Dog park. No Pool. Nice play area for kids . Being November we experienced no bugs. Can't wait to return to this great RV park for a much longer stay next time. We camped at Sunset Point on Lake LBJ in a Fifth Wheel.

Oakdale Park, Glen Rose, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was easy. Staff are helpful. Fellow RVers are friendly. This is an historic site built in a oak tree forest with a huge beautiful pool. I bet this place is full and so much fun in the summer. Lanes within the park are wide enough and older macadam. Sites are nice & long for big rigs, and are gravel surrounded by grass and big trees. Site includes a picnic table. Utilities all worked well. AT&T Cell was weak. Verizon broadband worked well. Park WIFI was good. Very small fenced Dog towards the back. Nice play area for kids . In November there were no bugs. Can't wait to return to this great RV park for a much longer stay next time. We camped at Oakdale Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Vineyards, Grapevine, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I am rating this park a "6" because of our site. If not for this, this park is a definite 10!! Premium Sites are very long. Many are concrete but some are macadam. We were in Space 22 which is horrible because it is macadam and slants downhill on the side and downhill on the front. Bring lots of blocks to even try to get your rig level in this space. . The camper behind us told us over the past month he has watched every single rig struggle in space 22. So this is NOT a new problem. Be sure you are not put in this space! Add to that the sewer connection is up on the street so absolutely impossible to drain your tanks! Entry into the park was easy. Staff was great. Fellow RVers very friendly. Views and access of the lake are great. Lanes within the park are macadam and wide enough. One area of the park has no trees and the other area has lots of trees. There are large grassy areas leading down to the lake. Site includes full hookups with a picnic table and inground fire ring. Utilities work well at this site except the sewer which is installed too high for you to be able to empty your holding tanks. This is a big problem with this site. AT&T Cell is good. Verizon Broadband is good as is Cable TV. Satellite works well. Be aware this is NOT a resort. There is no fenced in dog park and no pool/spa. There is a nice play area all around the lake for kids to play. We are here in early November and there are no Bugs. We camped at The Vineyards in a Fifth Wheel.

Wichita Falls RV Park, Wichita Falls, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a little gem. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was easy. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Fellow RVers are really friendly. Lanes within the park are paved and wide. Sites are and gravel surrounded with lots of grass and tall trees. Sites include concrete patio and table. Utilities are well positioned and work well. There is a lazy river that runs along the side of the park. AT&T Cell is very good. Verizon Broadband is very good. Park WIFI is okay. Like most parks it slows down as the park fills up. Cable TV is very good and Satellite reception is excellent. Dog park is large. Would be even better if it were fenced so we could let the dogs off leash. For now there is lots of room to walk the dogs. Nice pool and really nice pond. Nice walking path all around the pond. We've been here at all times of the year and never experienced any bugs. We will definitely return to this park. We camped at Wichita Falls RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, Quanah, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a little gem. Facilities are built into a real cotton gin. I love when old buildings are repurposed like this. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was easy. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Fellow RVers are all friendly. Views are of the prairie and farms. Lanes within the park are wide and easy to navigate. Sites are plenty big enough for big rigs. Sites are all grass with some nice trees. Utilities worked well. AT&T Cell coverage was good as was Verizon Broadband and Satellite. No cable TV at this time. WIFI was good. No Dog park, but lots of room to walk the dog. Really nice pool and patio. There were flies out at this time of year. We really enjoyed the restfullness of this park and will definitely return any time we are traveling thru this area. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I would have rated this park a "10" except the WIFI was not great. We would rather pay $1.00 or $2.00 more per night and have great WIFI. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was very easy. This park is all pull-thrus and built for big rigs. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Fellow RVers are very welcoming and interested in meeting. Lanes within the park are wide and macadam. Sites have concrete pad for the rig and very long. Spaces are very wide with a concrete patio and nice table. Area between spaces is nice medium size gravel. Very clean. This is the Texas Panhandle - prairie, so it is nice having tall a tall tree on the side. There is plenty of grass around the club house and pool/spa as well as a nice big fenced in dog park. Utilities all work well. AT&T Cell works well as does Verizon Broadband. There is good Cable TV and our Satellite works well too. Bath houses function as storm shelters. This part of Texas can have bad storms. Don't take any chances; go to the bathhouse. Laundry room is available in each bath house. There is a big pool and a nice kids play area. No bugs. WIFI is weak and this is the only disappointment with this park. We will definitely return to this great RV park. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Corral RV Park, Dalhart, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was very easy. Staff are nice Most RVers are full time residents. This park is very close to grain silos with a weird smell depending on direction of the wind. Lanes within the park are wide and give easy access to big rigs. Best sites are 3-17. Very wide and very long for easy pull thru. Sites are small gravel which is easy to walk on and very clean. There are big Trees for nice summer shade. This is the Texas panhandle so there is no grass. Utilities work well. AT&T Cell service is excellent. Verizon Broadband is excellent. Park WIFI is good but your site fee includes only one device. Price to add more devices is $1.00 per device per day. And well worth it!! There is NO Cable TV but satellite reception is excellent. No Dog park but with size of the sites #3-#17, lots of room to walk the dogs. No Pool. Nice play area for kids. No Bugs. There is some road and train noise but we slept with our windows open and were not bothered. This is a nice place to stop for one or two nights. We camped at Corral RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was Staff were wonderful. No idea what the fellow RVers are like. Seems to be about 95% permanent rigs. And in 3 days we rarely saw another person. Views are awesome - mountains to the West and the Valley to the East. Lanes within the park are paved and easy to navigate with a big rig. Sites on the upper level (ours B13) and very very wide covered in gravel. Plenty long enough for our 43 ft rig and parked our F350 next to the rig. No trees or landscaping on this upper level. Site includes good utilities. They say there is WIFI here but we were never able to connect to the Internet. No Cable TV but Satellite worked fine. No Dog park, no pool and no play area for kids. No bugs. Being on top of a hill, it did get windy one day. Not sure if we will return to this park. This park is old and not well maintained. The permanent resident sites are very messy for the most part. We camped at Foot of the Rockies RV & Storage in a Fifth Wheel.

We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Park is big rig friendly/ level and shaded sites in the north section/ good WIFI/restaurant onsite/ easy in easy out. Good Verizon. Good cable tv plus satellite access. Big trees for summer shade. Sites are close to each other, long enough for rig and toad. Park could use a lot more gravel. Sites were very muddy with the rain. Gravel with grass on each side. Small fenced dog run at very back of north section. Good utilities. No pool. Would return in order to do some site seeing. Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This park would have gotten a higher rating if the lanes and sites had not been so muddy with the rain. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was easy. Staff were very nice. Winter has hit WY early and we are here at the end of Sept with a lot of rain. This is a large grassy park with lots of big trees. Very pretty. Only problem is that it has been a long time since new gravel was put down so with rain, our site and the areas around us were big puddles and mud. Lanes within the park are easy to navigate a big rig. Sites are long with big grass area on both sides. Site includes a picnic table. Utilities worked well. AT&T Cell worked well. Verizon Broadband worked well. Cable TV was very nice. No problem using the Satellite. Deer and wild turkeys roam all over. There is no fenced dog park. So walking the dogs with deer and turkey poop all over - especially in the rain - was a challenge. Looked like a nice small pool area. Would like to return to this RV park for a much longer stay and earlier in the summer next time. We camped at Deer Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
