Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park, Clio, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park convenient to the little town of Graeagle and the beautiful Gold Lakes Basin. Sites are spacious and ours had some nice trees for shade. This park is very clean; roads are all asphalt and most of the sites are covered in white gravel. There are several grades of sites from "premium" by the river to "standard" back-ins. We had the lower priced back-in and it was fine. Great park for walking the dog and a nice, fenced dog run at the end of the park with benches and shade. Several permanent modular homes that were beautiful summer residences. We enjoyed our stay here. We camped at Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Coachland RV Park, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We were very uncomfortable in this park due to the extremely tight space we were assigned. As previous reviewers have described, the site arrangement is pull-throughs with alternating driveways. So you're face-to-face with the RV in front and back-to-back behind. This worked OK for some of the sites for longer term campers. But in the end row we were in, it was extremely tight. Our 5th wheel was wedged between two others; our bedroom slide nearly touched the one behind us and our awning nearly touched our facing neighbor. The 2 picnic tables were side-by-side in a common area between our RVs that left no room to put lawn chairs. As other reviewers have stated, the park is nicely landscaped, utilities are fine and the cable TV lineup is extensive. But we would have preferred more space outside. We camped at Coachland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Chula Vista RV Resort, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Beautifully landscaped park right on the bay. Extremely clean and well maintained. Lots of trees and flowers and most sites have hedges between them. Very dog friendly with 3 off leash areas and a really cool dog wash with warm water! However, as mentioned by other reviewers, the sites were very narrow and short. Our 33 ft. fifth wheel fit but we had to park our truck sideways in the driveway. And with the two back slides out, the site was barely wide enough for the picnic table. But the weather and location were worth it! Great place to walk in the adjacent park by the marina and waterfront. The nightly rate was high but in line with other RV parks in area and this one feels more like a resort that just a parking lot. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The Galley Restaurant in the marina is within walking distance and the food is pretty good. The best value for visiting San Diego is the Maritime Museum downtown. For $20 each we spent several hours touring several historical ships and got a pilot boat tour of the harbor.

Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, clean park next to a HUGE casino. Sites were spacious and had level concrete pads. Lots of mature trees for shade. We stayed on a Sunday so didn't notice the construction noise but there is a big building going up next door and the entrance to the park is hard to find due to construction barriers. I thought the price was a little high and we took one of the lowest price sites. Sites with picnic tables or in the interior were more. Nice pool and a great off leash dog park. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to southern California and liked it so well we arranged to stay here on the return trip also. Very nice, clean park. And the best part is camping among the orange trees! We were able to pick some last of the season oranges during our first stay and by the time we returned two weeks later, the orange blossoms were in bloom. Heavenly! The sites are level gravel, long enough for our 5th wheel and truck to pull in easily. Sites are spaced far enough apart so you don't feel you're on top of your neighbors. Nice recreation room and pool. Even an area for washing cars and RVs. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Los Banos West / I-5 KOA , Santa Nella, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We generally stay away from KOAs because they're usually overpriced and rundown. But there are few options along I-5 in this area so we gave it a try. Big mistake. This place was scary. We were given a site in the back with all the derelict trailers. Grass was overgrown and the only service to the "site" was a sewer hook-up. No water, power or cable dedicated to the site even though we paid for full hook-ups. We were able to share the utility post that was outside our neighbor's door. Our coax cable didn't reach but that was OK because we were told it didn't work very well anyway and we did get some stations over the air. The cable for the park seems to be strung between orange highway cones. The sites in the front of the park are somewhat better but we will plan better next time so we don't need to stay overnight in this area. We camped at Los Banos West / I-5 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Almond Tree RV Park, Chico, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times while visiting family in the area. It's a nice, clean, shaded park conveniently located on the west end of town. The larger back-in sites seem to be allocated to long term campers and the two pull-through rows in the center are given to overnighters. However, these are extremely narrow and the utilities are placed in the middle so if you're out in your lawn chair you're pretty much sitting next to your neighbor's sewer hookup (my pet peeve). Knowing this, we asked for an end site when we made our reservation and were told one was available. But when we arrived, it was not. Then, we were assigned a site right next to another camper when at least 10 sites on the other side were vacant (??). We asked to be moved so at least we had one site between us and didn't feel quite so crowded. The park has a nice clubhouse and a pool that didn't seem to be in use for the season yet. We camped at Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Detroit Lake State Park, Detroit, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Detroit Lake in mid-May; before the summer craziness, and it was beautiful and quiet. Only a few fishing boats on the lake which was full! Dogwoods and rhododendrons were blooming in the campground and the geese were leading their babies along the shoreline. We had a full hookup site in G loop close to the lake. It had 30 amp service. The water/electric sites in H loop are only 20 amp. Not a lot to do if you don't have a boat but a nice area for a short stay. We camped at Detroit Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort, Sisters, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place to stay while visiting Sisters. It was transformed several years ago from a dusty KOA to a 5-Star RV resort with great sites and beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. The sites are fairly close together but offset enough that you're not looking at your neighbor's sewer hose. Great paved driveways with a small brick patio for the picnic table. The sites even have fire rings. Very pet friendly with a small dog park on one end of the park and access to the fairgrounds on the other. Our only complaint was the lack of cable TV. We only got a few stations with our antenna. But the office told us cable was coming soon! We camped at Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Sisters is a great place to spend the day but go a bit farther up Highway 20 and take the turnoff to Camp Sherman and the Metolius River. There's a short trail to the headwaters and farther up the road you can tour the fish hatchery. One of Oregon's most beautiful rivers!

Casa De Fruta RV Orchard Resort, Hollister, California

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here overnight on our way to the coast. Quick, efficient check-in at the combined RV/motel office. The RV park is completely blacktopped (even around the trees) for some reason but that makes the sites very level and clean. There is a lawn area in the center of the park for some green relief. There were very few campers when we stayed in February so they were assigning every other site, giving us lots of room. If the place was full, you'd be really close to your neighbors. It's a bit of a walk to the fruit stand and stores but worth it. Nice respite after a long drive. We camped at Casa De Fruta RV Orchard Resort in a Travel Trailer.

RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino, Corning, California

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Great value for an overnight stay along Interstate 5; only $28 for full hookups. No cable, but we were able to get quite a few channels with our antenna. All pull-through sites that were long and level. And the park is far enough away from the freeway that there was very little noise. Only downside is that the park is up on a hill and the wind was blowing a gale while we were there. Not much in the way of trees for a windbreak. There's a shuttle to the casino for those that are so inclined (we weren't). We camped at RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Crane Prairie RV Resort, Bend, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We love this park! It's truly a campground with trees, rocks and wildlife rather than paved pads and grass. You get the real outdoors experience with the convenience of water, power and sewer hook-ups! But the listing for this park is wrong; it should be listed under the town of La Pine. And it's 24 miles west of La Pine in a beautiful but remote area so don't expect to run into town quickly if you forget something. Crane Prairie definitely caters to the fishing crowd and the lake is known for it's trophy "Cranebow" trout. This means the sites are very wide and well spaced so there is room for your RV and tow vehicle and even another vehicle and boat. One prior reviewer complained about the quality of the water but we didn't notice anything wrong with it so maybe this is a problem that has been fixed. Cell service is a bit spotty. My AT&T only worked by the boat ramp but our TracPhone worked fine at the campsite. There is only one plumbed restroom and a separate shower house/laundry in the park so plan to use the facilities in your RV. The shower requires LOTS of quarters and is really used by campers in the forest service campground next door. The store is minimally stocked with food and mostly sells fishing tackle. You can also rent boats there or arrange to keep your boat in their marina during your stay. They do have a fairly restrictive cancellation policy so make sure you are firm on your reservations at least two weeks ahead of time. We will definitely go back to Crane Prairie Resort. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Seven Feathers RV Park, Canyonville, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Frankly, we were amazed when we drove up to the registration portico and saw this park...no, resort. The grounds are meticulously manicured; green grass at each site, trees, shrubs and flowers. Each site has a level cement pad and a cement patio area with a picnic table. The hookups were very convenient; even having two sewer connections, one at the front and the other at the back of the site so it can accommodate any type of RV. The dog park was a clean, shaded fenced-in area of wood chips with not a weed in sight. There is a nice, 3 ft to 5 ft deep indoor pool and spa as well as a fitness center in the recreation room. This is a place we could spend a lot of time at except there's really nothing to do in the area unless you take in the activities at the casino. That's the only reason I didn't rate this a 10. We camped at Seven Feathers RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park in a great location next to the bay. There are some great sites in this park and some bad ones. They bay front sites and the "fire ring" sites along the canal are good size and the canal sites offer some privacy. However, the pull through sites along the road are narrow and, as one reviewed commented, there is a dangerous trench along the back. We were lucky to be on the canal, right next to the restrooms, which turned out to be a great site considering a lot of the "garden" in this Garden RV Resort are the flowerbeds in front of the restroom. The cell service was good as was the WiFi but there is no cable. There was a sign at the office that they had just discontinued it. They need to consider getting it back since it's an amenity most people expect in a park like this. We camped at Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Rovers RV Park (formerly Chinook RV Park), Waldport, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Chinook RV park for a week while exploring the central Oregon coast. It was a convenient location for doing this and we enjoyed our stay. There are many good things about this park but I think it has been overrated by previous reviewers. By far, the best amenity of this park is the "dog run" area by the river. This is the area pictured on their website; not the camping area which, unfortunately, is just a large, treeless field. Having said that, the sites are pretty large with two gravel areas; one for the RV and the other for the tow vehicle. And there is a nice grassy area separating the rows. The restrooms are spotless and the laundry area has one of my favorite features a "take a book, leave a book" library. Cable was good as was cell coverage but I had trouble logging into the WiFi. Before booking this park, I would recommend looking at the satellite view on Google to get a truer picture of it. We camped at Rovers RV Park (formerly Chinook RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.
