Lake Pemaquid Campground, Damariscotta, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Lake Pemaquid Campground $30./ no discounts We were quite surprised when we pulled into here. The road into the very woodsy Park is narrow, and signage is poor. We disconnected at what used to be the office and I drove car into the park to the store/check-in office to find directions to our site - a lake front site where we hoped my husband could fish. We found a site that was barely long enough for our 32' RV, and a lake that had so many lilies that fishing was next to impossible, especially with such a shallow depth. The sewer connection was a PVC pipe coming out of the ground at an angle, and above ground level. The electric and water connections were conveniently located at the back of the site. It appears that this campground has a lot going on during the summer season, parties, activities, etc. There seemed to be quite a few seasonal camps set up, with wooden patios, planting's, etc. Our site was in a culdesac and had some shrubbery between us and adjacent sites. As I started thinking about this place, the movie "Dirty Dancing" came to mind. The deeply wooded terrain, rustic wooden buildings and camp-like activities portrayed in the movie. This place was convenient for touring this area of Maine, but it was not an up-to-date, modern environment I was expecting. Lobster can be purchased from a dock at Owl Point Lobster, just before you get to the Owl Point Lighthouse, and my husband said the oysters from Scully's on River Road in Edgecomb were some of the best he's tasted. $1.50 each, but he said it was worth it. We camped at Lake Pemaquid Campground in a Motorhome.

Bayley's Camping Resort, Scarborough, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Bayleys RV Resort, Scarborough, ME. $55., no discounts I can say that this IS a resort! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and even in late September, there were a lot of people in the main pool, and kids on the playground, and on bikes. Next to the pool is a bar/restaurant that was closed for the season. Our site was in the back (north) part of the park, and the bumpy gravel road with speed bumps was annoying! I wish they would pave all the main interior roads. Our site was long enough, and very wide, had a picnic bench and fire ring. There was an ADULTS ONLY swimming pool and hot tub in our section, and a nice (but expensive) laundry room (5.50-6.50 per wash). There is a restaurant in this complex as well (closed for season) and shower house that was very clean and nice. My only complaint about them is they were not angled right, so the water pooled in the "dry" area. There are fishing ponds, kayak rentals, mini-golf, playgrounds, etc. they rent golf carts, and there was quite a bit of traffic through the campground over the weekend. Many people rent a site for the whole season, and leave rigs, etc. set up the whole time, but there was only a small area in the back of the park where it appeared people lived year-round and had wooden porches, etc. set up. I could see that this would be a very busy place in the summer, especially weekends. If you are camping with kids, and want things for them to do, this place would be great. If you want a more quiet experience, I would avoid Bayley's during the summer. We used this as a base to visit the area both N and S on US1. Easy day trips all the way down to Kittery. We camped at Bayley's Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sam's club, Maine Mall, Walmart are nearby campground, and just down the street from the campground you can buy fresh lobster from the Turners for a good price. - look for sign on the right after Ken's restaurant and drive down dirt road (not with rig).

Endless Caverns Resort, New Market, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is 6 miles from I-81. Once you turn on Endless Caverns Rd. It's what seems like a long drive thru farms and residential areas. The campground is at the very end of the road. It is a Peaceful, wooded, secluded setting. Sites are long and wide, carved out of some hilly terrain, but fairly level. All roads are gravel and dusty. This might be a problem when the place is busy and there is lots of traffic. This is a LARGE property with 3 sections of the campground. We were glad to have an escort to our site, because the roads are not labeled. There are 2 bath houses, and I am glad we were self-contained. The women's bathhouse in Section C left a lot to be desired. There was only one shower (of 2) that had a curtain. There was an air unit (heat?) in the wall, but the place was hot and had little ventilation. It looked clean, but not inviting. There is a very pretty catch and release pond with seating around it, volleyball court, huge rec room with a projection screen for movies, a game room, nice wading type pool (maximum depth was 4') and lots of roads and trails to explore on foot, bike or 4-wheeler. If you are interested in touring the cavern, you can do that from the registration building at various times for $15./adults and $7. For kids. We were only here overnight, but it would be a nice place for a family to spend some time away from it all. Keep in mind that this IS a remote location. The Park WiFi is spotty, there is NO TV reception, but my Verizon jet pack had a good signal. We camped at Endless Caverns Resort in a Motorhome.

French Creek Marina, Clayton, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Most of the units here are "permanent" summer seasonal trailers and some Park models. Park is sprawling, there is a marina and bait shop, 3 bath houses and laundry room. We were there with a group that comes every summer for Labor Day, and stayed right across from the marina - an Overflow parking area. 50 amp service is run on top of the grass along the parking stopper. Friend and I got hooked up fine to water and electric, but RV who came next to us needed a splitter (that owner was suppose to get) to have more that 15 amp electric. Even then he would need a long extension cord. Place is NOT fancy - think fish camp - and owners seem to be greedy, but it IS convenient if you want a place to dock a boat and go out in the river. I think it's kind of pricey for what you get. $40./ night - no discounts. The kids did love riding their bikes around the paved and gravel roads and fishing off the dock. No WiFi, limited TV antenna signal. We camped at French Creek Marina in a Motorhome.

Casey Jones RV Park, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Used for an overnight stay. Sandy/ grass sites that are fairly level, but rather narrow. 30/50 amp, water, sewer, WiFi and cable. There is an exercise room, but you need a code to enter and that wasn't offered to us. There was NO information given except an escort to the assigned site which was a pull thru near the road. The back in sites near us were all permanent residents. The WiFi was fairly strong for a campground, and there were quite a few cable stations, but with no guide it was difficult to figure out stations. The bath was clean, but hot with no ventilation. It's bad to sit on the toilet and sweat! A/C in Florida restrooms should be mandatory. It was fine for an overnight, but we didn't feel welcomed without getting info that is usually provided. We camped at Casey Jones RV Park in a Motorhome.

Crossroads Travel Park, Perry, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Great stop for overnight, or if you are visiting Perry, GA. Shopping is on the other side of I-75, easy on and off and not directly next to interstate. Sites were just long enough for our 32' with toad, longer rigs had to disconnect or hang out a bit. Site was level and some had picnic tables. Laundry was adequate and reasonably priced. Bath house was clean, but old and not climate-controlled. Long-term rental sites were well maintained. We used Passport America discount and were able to make reservations ($2. Fee for credit card). Not a great bargain if paying rack price of $40.00. We would stay here again. WiFi, cable, and full hook-ups. We camped at Crossroads Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Anderson Camp , Eden, Idaho

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Hard to judge too much when we were just there overnight in the rain. The park is wooded, with narrow grassy sites that were soggy with the rain. Gravel/muddy roads, quiet setting, nice restroom/shower in main building up front. Pool and other bathhouse were not opened. $ for Wifi, RV dealer next door. There was a beautiful (in pictures) waterfall nearby that we couldn't go to because of the weather. Shoshone Falls is called the "Niagara falls of the west". We camped at Anderson Camp in a Motorhome.

Shady Grove Campground, Seibert, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Fine for an overnight stay. Seibert is a tiny town, the park has basic facilities, tight sites, Central antenna TV system, bathhouse was old, antiquated and cold, but clean. Nice couple ran the place. There are permanent residences on one side, we were placed on the other side of the office. Nothing nearby. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

26.50 after $5. Discount. About 15 miles north of Topeka off US 75. Open sites with grass in-between. All Pull-thru, wide, paved sites, nice bathhouse. Walking distance (or shuttle) to Casino where you can get a $5.00 discount for joining player's club. Restaurants in Casino. Smoking smell in scasino was bad! This was an overnight stay for us, but it was a very nice park. Super clean and spacious. We camped at Prairie Band Casino in a Motorhome.

WaKeeney KOA, WaKeeney, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

$35.45 after 10% discount Nothing fancy, nothing special, but a good spot for overnight. Restroom was decent. Free Wifi & cable, pull-thru grass sites. Pool wasn't open, so I can't comment on that. The office/store was under renovations when we were there. Easy on/off the Interstate, with some highway noise. We camped at WaKeeney KOA in a Motorhome.

Cape Camping & RV Park, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Wide open spaces, only small trees, but strips of grass between sites. Water, Elect. Sewer easy access. Good WiFi signal, nice looking clubhouse with pool table, DVD rentals, minigolf, access to nice paved walkway to town. Pool closed - assume because of the time of year, but it was warm enough that it could have been used. Individual shower/toilet rooms are nice, clean, but not well ventilated. GPS address is not accurate - heading west, pull in right after the Beef O'Brady's restaurant - right turn. All pull through sites. Quiet location, but close to town. Great for an overnight, or if you have something to do in the area. We camped at Cape Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ocean Shores RV Park (formerly Oceanview RV Park), Homer, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Park is right outside town, but about 7 miles from the spit. Nice spots - all with partial view of the water. It is on a bluff and there is a walkway down to the beach. Also tent sites and fire pit on the bluff side of campground. Cute gift store in the office. BBQ grill and patio behind office. Nice laundry room ($3.00 each wash and dry). We had a new picnic table at our site, which was fairly level. Others were not so much. Winds off the water can be high (another reason to stay off the spit). Some grass at each site. I would say the sites were fairly spacious side to side. We camped at Ocean Shores RV Park (formerly Oceanview RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Golden Nugget RV Park, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here two nights. Yes, there are permanant or seasonal renters in the area closest to the office, but where we were placed (other side of fence) there were small grassy areas, and adaquate space with slide out. Husband liked the shower house. I thought the women's smelled musty and I didn't use (there are 2 shower houses, and I checked out the one by the pavillion, not the main building). From the research I did, it was the best option if you want to be in Anchorage. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tampa RV Park (formerly Camp Nebraska), Tampa, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Camp Nebraska is now called Tampa RV Park. There may be new owners/managers from the ones mentioned in older posts - the people we met were friendly and helpful. This is a good option if you want a campground IN Tampa. It is convenient to Bush Gardens, USF, I-275 and Downtown. It is in an area of town that has old businesses (including some strip clubs and tattoo parlors), but the park itself was quiet with not much traffic coming through it. I never felt unsafe there. There ARE some campers that are rented out as residences, and others who are there for the winter, but they have temporary guests as well, including some good size, newer RVs. The park is old, and the sites are fairly narrow - not much outdoor space, especially if you have slide-outs. There are concrete pads but the one on our site wasn't in a convenient place so we didn't use it. The restrooms don't have the best design, but were clean. 2 toilets, 2 showers, one dressing room and sink. The men's room had some plumbing issues, but they were working to correct that. They were having problems with the Wifi, but worked hard to get it working - it was better, but still sporadic. Tampa RV Park is NOT a resort!, but it was a very convenient place to stay, and we would stay there again. We camped at Tampa RV Park (formerly Camp Nebraska) in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

South on Nebraska you will find a very good diner - "3 coins Diner". It is open 24/7 and we saw quite a few cars in the parking lot every time we went by. There is a Family Dollar store right outside the campground, and convenient bus stops too. A few block north is Fowler Ave, where there are lots of stores, and restaurants. "Shell's" restaurant is famous for it's Shrimp Pasta.
