Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Hacienda RV Resort is really not much of a resort. Similar amenities can be found in the area for less money. But, it is well maintained with privacy fences between sites on one side but pretty darn close on the other when you can look into another persons vehicle. But, the do have great landscaping for the desert. The laundry room was clean and fairly priced. They have a lounge area that is very nice with a fire place and and outside patio plus a nice hot tub and exercise room. This is touted as a "rally" park so there was a structure separate for that activity. Our stay here was for a week and it is near the freeway but the noise was minimal. They did seem to have some long-term units with young couples and this increased the type of noise and activity around the park. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Texas state park and in addition to the nightly rate, you will have to pay $6/per person/per day in addition to your fee. We paid $148 for 3 nights and felt that we were not getting a good value. It is a nice park but not a great one. Davis State Park has a number of hiking opportunities but is pretty small and has limited amenities. There is an Indian Lodge at this location which is beautiful and has a lovely dining room and lobby. No internet. No cell service. When here, you are off the grid. The sites were roomy and they had a lot of "eyebrow" types where you could drive through. It had trees and beautiful views. Lots of kids when we were visiting riding and playing everywhere. They do provide a concrete pad with a picnic table and it is covered - which is very nice. They also have some of the park programs that are well attended. We camped at Davis Mountains State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Davis is a close town about 20 minutes away and has a great grocery store, restaurants and is a friendly little town. Gas was a bit higher than on the main freeway but not too far out of line. We liked the town but it is near just about nothing else. They have a variety of sightseeing opportunities and a great scenic drive.

Big Bend Resort & Adventures RV Park & Campground (Big Bend Motor Inn), Terlingua, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is in the middle of the desert in Texas. It is sand. There is a lot of wind and the roads on the property are not paved. It is a large gravel area but all of the RV parks are about the same. It is very Big Bend Nat'l Park where it is difficult to find any RV spots. The property also has a motel in the front and they have a very nice game room where it is possible to bring one's computer and get some internet time. The phone service is almost non-existent for T-Mobile and Verizon - when here you are pretty much "off the grid". But, the area is amazing, more of that later. This is as good a park as we saw and we would stay again. The sites are level and it varies as to how close together they are located. Not laid out in a real organized way throughout the park but it does provide some mighty nice sunsets and sunrises to view. We camped at Big Bend Resort & Adventures RV Park & Campground (Big Bend Motor Inn) in a Motorhome.

Hidden Valley RV Park, Del Rio, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Hidden Valley is well hidden in the small town of Del Rio, TX. It is off the beaten path at the end of a road and is a small secluded property. Directions from the owner are important to receive. The park has grass and trees and the spaces vary in size and placement. There are some permanent residents too. It is in a quiet residential setting.

The owner is very particular where you are to park your rig at your spot. She monitors everything very closely and is very hands on. You will also pay for electricity, even for a one night visit.

The laundry room is large and has a number of machines but the prices were a bit steep. $2/washer & $3/dryer but there is no timer on the dryer. The area has a TV, books, games and one can stay and be entertained while you wait for your laundry. But, the area would benefit from a deep cleaning as does the entire park. It is beginning to look a wee bit tired overall.

If you want an economical parking spot, plus a quiet and friendly spot, this might just be the place for you. We camped at Hidden Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

If in the area, you might try "Rudy's BBQ" really good and inexpensive food. They have enough of the big stores to please most people.

Victoria Palms Resort, Donna, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

Victoria Palms is a part of Encore and therefore they had a monthly special in 2016 for first time visitors of $199/month. We took it and therefore the "value" was excellent. The normal monthly rate, at this time, was around $800/month and that is right on target for this property. Many of the sites have lemon/orange/grapefruit trees - which is really delightful.

We stayed for a month and enjoyed many of the amenities that they provide, enjoyed the service, security, beauty and really were impressed with the many activities this property provides. We are considering a return next year. If interested in social activities, not only does this park provide them but all of the parks welcome each other into many of the opportunities. It is just very extensive.

Sites are concrete pads with a patio and are sunny and open. We camped at Victoria Palms Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Donna TX is a wonderful area with anything a person could possibly want in the way of services, entertainment, restaurants, sight seeing, malls, discount malls, and I can't think of a service not available. And, the community was very friendly to "winter Texans" too. That means a lot.

Staying at Victoria Palms provides just about any type of site for any class motor home and they also have park models to rent and for sale.
