Nice park. We had a back-in lower level. OTA TV and WiFi adequate. Walking distance to town (5 min). Saturday morning breakfast was great and very reasonably priced.

Date of Stay:

Long gravel pull-thru sites with concrete patio with picnic table. Originally booked Jonestown AOK based on RV Park Review ratings, but did not stay there and ended up here. This park is hands-down far better than the other park for only a couple dollars more than the Good Sam rate. We generally do not stay in KOA parks. We are glad we did today.

We thought we reserved full hook-up but they gave us W/E only. When we went back to the office and stated that it was not FHU, they apologized and moved us to a FHU site, for $18 more. Site was fairly level. WiFi is Tengo and they give you 1 hour continuous every 12 hours. Slow. Air Force base beside the park and jets were flying from early morning till late at night. It felt as if they were flying right through the RV. Every time they flew over, lost signal on TV (OTA) and WiFi. Nice enough campground for families if you don't care about WiFi, TV or jet noise. We will not camp in Virginia Beach (anywhere) again because of the noise, high cost of RV parks and lack of services.

We had reservations and arrived to a closed office at 12:45 on a Monday afternoon. We called 3 different numbers trying to reach someone. We finally did and were told they would arrive shortly. By this time we had found a "nite check-in" service and along with instructions from the lady who returned our call, walked the campground looking for a site with services. We were told to look at sites 10-22, which all have full hook-ups at this time of year. Only one of these sites was anywhere near level - but large trees everywhere (and narrow roadways) would make it difficult to pull in and out of these pull-thru sites. A little gravel and a grater would go a long way towards fixing many of these sites. After walking the campground for 15 minutes and still struggling with where to park, we decided to leave. We will not return to this campground again.

We booked a 4 night stay at this park. When we arrived we paid for the 4 days at the PA rate of $10 a day. They said we would have to go into the new section because our 5th was too large for the old section. Our fiver is 32' long. We paid and went to our site (41). It would appear that all the trailers in this park are permanent or seasonal residents. Our site was so small and with so many trees around it that only a Smart car with cart could have backed into that spot. We went back to the office and told them we could not fit into any of the available sites (many were so uneven that you would never be able to level any RV). I would not recommend this park to anyone. The only positive about this park was the girl at the cash and the refunding of our money.

We drove the 5 1/2 miles off the highway, after a long travel day, to get to this campground, only to find out the only sites available were back-ins and the only one we fit into had the electrical box sealed. We walked the campground trying to find another spot, but none were long enough for us to leave our less than 32' 5th wheel attached to our truck. We also had to back up and re-enter some of the roads as they were all very narrow and lined with trees, so not much swing space. The sites were gravel and the majority of them were very uneven also. When I called this park earlier in the day, we were told they do not take reservations, it is first come first served. They told us to arrive and pick a spot. No one was at the entrance building when we arrived about 4:45 on a Sunday afternoon. After a half hour, we finally gave up, drove away and spent the night in the local Walmart - not my favorite place to spend the night at all - but there was nothing else! We will never come here again.

Agree with most comments. Easy on/off of I-10. Noise not noticeable from I-10 and trains. Site was level, Wi-Fi and cable was good. Rate is PA rate. Would stay here again. Free coffee and waffles in the morning greatly appreciated before hitting the road. Owner was present when we arrived and was very friendly. Fresh pies are for sale and they looked great.

This is a clean, friendly, beautiful RV resort with practically all sites shaded. The people in the park are all very friendly. There are lots of park activities. We liked everything about this park except the Wi-Fi (which was VERY poor) and we were only a few sites away from the tower. The park management limits the bandwidth and the amount of usage for each person - and doesn't tell anyone what that usage limit is, so you could open up the weather and your mail and find you have reached your limit on any given day. We were not able to use Skype to talk with our kids or grand kids and we were often booted out of any other instant messaging software, so staying in touch without a phone is almost impossible. There is a computer room where you can connect your own laptop or use one of their computers, but personally I like to use my own laptop very early in the a.m. while my significant other is still sleeping and I am up. This also allows me to connect with family and friends back east. This park would have rated a 10 if the Wi-Fi was better and the only reason we would not return to this park or recommend it to others is because of the poor Wi-Fi.

This is a hidden gem. We booked this campground because it is close to the I-81 and half way between Watertown and Syracuse. We were taking our very first trip in our new 5th wheel. The staff was very friendly when we booked and when we arrived. We were escorted to our site which was gravel and level, very wide and had a picnic table. Road from the interstate to the park was newly paved. Roads in the park are a little rough but OK, no pot holes. The park is on city water (40 psi) and there are no issues with the electricity. We had strong, free Wi-Fi at our site. Our site faced the 4th hole of the 9 hole golf course. This course is 2537 yards from the blue tees. If you stay 2 nights, for an extra $15, two can play 9 holes of golf with a cart! This park is pretty much an adult park. There are no kiddie structures or pool, but there is a small restaurant and covered patio that offer snacks and beverages before or after golf. Or anytime else for that matter: for a reasonable price. We will definitely return.

We called several times to book a site. The answering machine said that someone would call you back to confirm the reservation. No one returned our calls. We went online to reserve a site and asked to be called for confirmation. No return call. We called when on the road and finally got someone who said, site available come on in. When we got there, no one was around. Sign on door gave a phone number to call. We did and got an answering machine. This is a small RV park with gravel and grass sites. Very muddy day we arrived. Picked a site (creek view). Cable did not work, Wi-Fi was good but had to guess on how to get on. This may be a very nice park during the summer but off season it does not rate the reviews it has received. This is a father and son operation and the father dropped by later to get payment for the site. He offered to call his son to look at the cable problem when advised that the cable did not work. As it was fairly late in the day and we did not have supper, we declined the offer. The $35 is with Good Sam discount. Would not stay here again even for an overnight. The GPS wanted us to go to this park over a bridge that has a 10 ton limit. The signs leading you to the park has you going down a hill with the road so narrow that when we met a car going in the opposite direction, the car had to back up as there was not enough room for both of us.

This is a good park in a good location. Although it is very near I-40, we did not notice a lot of road noise. It is beside a Camping World and is a PA and Good Sam Park. The price we paid is averaged out for 2 days under PA and one under Good Sam. We found Vickie (in the office) to be very friendly and helpful. All sites are dirt, but wide. We can see where the dust might really blow if it is windy, but not a problem when we stayed here. The wi-fi (free) was o.k. The signal was very good to excellent, but the speed was slow, (11 Mbps) and I was using a network adapter to extend the range. We would stay here again.

We camped here under AOR. The rate was $6 + $1 for 30 amp/night. Our site had electric and water only. Park seems fine and has activities in the clubhouse. We were expecting full hook-ups and wi-fi. When we checked in, they said our site was EW only and the wifi wasn't working. By the next day, I was able to sign in and pay for wifi service with Tengo Internet, only to have it say "limited or no connectivity" within minutes of paying and I couldn't access it again for several hours. The wi-fi was "iffy" at best. Signal strength wasn't particularly good. Now that we have read the reviews on Distant Drums, I would stay there in future instead.

Date of Stay:

We generally agree with all of the comments made previously. The first 2 nights were under PA (electricity and water only) for $12 per night. The 3rd night was full price so we moved sites to a full hook-up site. They did give us a reduction for Good Sam Club. When we called to make the reservations, they told us that wi-fi was $1.95 per day. When we arrived, we were shown a brochure for the wi-fi at $1.95/day. When we logged onto the wi-fi, the price came up at $3.95/day. When we informed the office, they said they would notify the owner. The wi-fi was slow. In spite of the fact that it kept telling me my signal was very good and 54 Mbps, it functioned like dial-up. If the wi-fi had been good, we would have given this park a much better rating.

This park is close to the I-10 (1-2 miles). Watch carefully for the big yellow sign at the entrance. Friendly reception. The interior roads are wide packed gravel. Pull-thrus are at the back and are long and narrow. The back-in sites appear to be long and wide. There are very clean private toilets & showers with disposable paper mats provided. The laundry facilities are small and clean. Passport America rate is $15. We paid an additional $2.50 for a pull-thru. It is a clean park, nicely treed with grass at all sites. It is a good touring base and is located right inside town, within walking distance to shops etc. We found it quiet enough for sleeping and would stay again.

Date of Stay:

Easy on/off I-20. We had a pull-thru gravel site that could accommodate our 38’ motorhome with tow. Sites are narrow and fairly level. Very friendly hosts, showed us to our site and made sure that we had everything we needed. When the host noticed a branch close to our motorhome, no time was wasted in cutting it down. This is an older park with newer owners who appear to be working hard at keeping it clean and fixing it up. It isn’t a fancy park, but is a good overnight or short stay park. Wi-Fi is included in the price and worked well. Cable TV is free and they even provide the cable for hook-up. This is a Good Sam Park. There is some Interstate noise, but tolerable unless you are a really light sleeper. We would definitely stay again when passing through.
