Yonah Mountain Camping Resort, Cleveland, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This park is ideally located to visit the many waterfalls and autumn colors of Northern GA. The roads and sites are gravel, just a bit our of level. Plenty of room to park our pickup beside the fifth wheel. Plenty of trees. We camped at Yonah Mountain Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many waterfalls in state parks and national forests within a 30 minute or 90 minute drive from the RV park. We particularly like Anna Ruby falls and Tallugah Gorge State Park. Tallugah Gorge is indeed in a picturesque gorge with several waterfalls. There are walking trails to view the falls deep in the gorge.

This is our second stay at this park. It is a nice park with nice staff. The entire road and sites are paved although there is grass on each site. The sites are level and a bit crowded. Easy access to many restaurants and tourist attractions. We camped at Briarcliffe RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Misty Mountain Camp Resort, Greenwood, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was fast and easy. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Site was back in, but plenty of room. Site was nearly level, but I did need to build up one side.

The staff helped me arrange for a mobile RV repairman to work on out toilet. He was prompt and did a good job.

WiFi was weak, as is typical for RV parks. Sometimes we could connect and sometimes not. I would assume during busy season WiFi would be non-available. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This RV park is close to Shenandoah NP and the Skyline drive. The fall colors were a bit dull but it was still an excellent drive. Visitors' Center was OK. Also close are the homes of James Madison, James Monroe and Thomas Madison.

We only visited Monticello (Jefferson) which was a great day. Well worth the fee ($25 pp) and time. We understand the Montpelier is also excellent, but we did not visit.

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Another very basic park; typical for Ocean Canyon and Coast to Coast. Gravel roads, a bit tight turns, sandy site (but level). The sites in the electric & water section (FHU was not available for our stay) are VERY cramped. Staff was pleasant. We camped at Abita Springs RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

l very basic park. Gravel roads and sites. Basically level; easy to drive unit. There is a swimming pool, we did not use. Limited activities, playground etc. Nice shade over most sites. There are permanent units, but most are in a separate area. WiFi was supposedly available, but we could rarely login {as is typical of nearly all RV parks}. We camped at Wolf River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access to historic Savannah: tour trolley comes right to park. Grass sites, no concrete. Basically level although we did use a bit of block on one side. WiFi only in office (although they claim to cover the entire park). Nice staff. Not sure I am remembering the fee correctly. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is an Ocean Canyon Properties [OCP] park; we are members so the stay was "free" with our membership. We have been disappointed in the quality of OCP parks---this is by far the best we have stayed in. Negatives: rough roads, landscaping not maintained, no grass. Positives: level sites (nearly all gravel), beautiful setting on the Styx River, facilities are clean & staff is helpful and friendly. We camped at Styx River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

In addition there are several pueblos in the area as well as National Monuments: Bandelier, Pecos & Tent Rocks are all good.
