Thousand Trails / Medina Lake, Lakehills, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

We had a terrific time at Medina Lake TT. Our biggest compliment to this park goes to the staff. Every single one of them was helpful and incredibly friendly to us and our kids. The kids LOVED all of the activities and the Thanksgiving dinner was terrific. The utilities worked fine for us, the hot tub was nice and hot, and the laundry worked great. The bonus that we all loved was seeing so many deer all over the place. The only reason I didn't rank this a 10 was the wifi. We work while on the road, so it The park advertised wifi but it scarcely worked at all during the first week we were there. If it was cloudy, the satellite wifi they use barely worked, and it was only slightly better in full sun. The activity center and only about 5-6 sites had access to wifi. We camped at Thousand Trails / Medina Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Harry McAdams Campground, Hobbs, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

The park was mostly empty while we were there. The wifi seemed to work just fine. The restrooms and especially the showers were not cleaned often. The park is beautiful and the campground is within walking distance to a nice playground, disc golf course, and park, and even seniors/kids fishing ponds. We camped at Harry McAdams Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Midway RV Park, Dexter, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The owners were friendly and the helpful. The amenities all worked just fine. We were too far from the office to pick up the wifi but our Verizon data signal worked just fine. The site was level and easy to get into. This park is located out near some major cattle farms, so you have to expect the odors. My main issue with the park wasn't that there were a lot of dog owners, but the fact that there was a LOT of dog piles around our lot that our kids happened to find all too frequently. We camped at Midway RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Crystal Forest Gift Shop Campground, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of those electric only, self contained units only sites. The location couldn't get any better if you're here to see Petrified Forest National Park, which was why we were there. There are no frills here. We did get a very usable Verizon Data signal out here surprisingly. The front office preferred cash only, but begrudgingly accepted CC. We would definitely stop here again if visiting the park again. We camped at Crystal Forest Gift Shop Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Blue Spruce RV Park, Grants, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Location made for an easy on/off on the expressway. Amenities all worked well, including electric, water, cable, and WiFi. The campsites were incredibly close and the night manager on duty while we were there parked a 5th wheel towing a 4-wheeler about 5 feet in front of our doorway. Even though they were gone pretty early in the morning, I found it fairly rude considering there were two more spots open that were 20 ft further away from us. I also had to wait over an hour to pay our bill in the morning because the manager had run to the post office. This campground might be good for a one night stop over, which is what we were looking for, but I couldn't see myself coming back. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We loved the antique feel of this campground. The vintage trailers were fun to see and the history was really cool too. As for the amenities, we had no trouble at all. Power, water, and wifi worked terrific for us and we were able to pick up plenty of OTA channels as well. The park is all gravel, but that helped to keep the dust and critters away. The laundry room was in great shape and while the showers could probably use a bit tighter cleaning schedule, they were nice and hot. We would definitely return if in the area again. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Albuquerque was only a 15 min drive with plenty to do. Old town and Petroglyph National Park are both very fascinating places. We also loved Santa Fe which was only a little over an hours drive.

Ute Mountain Casino RV Park, Towaoc, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a good place to park it for a month. This park was in good proximity to so many different things that it was perfect! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The night security was also a welcoming sight. The amenities all worked perfectly. Electric, water, sewer, cable, and wifi were all included. The pool and sauna were a nice addition as well. The bonus was the $5 free play at the casino for each night booked. My only gripe would be the sand burrs. We punctured 6 bike tires during our time there and had multiple burrs make it through the soles of our sandals. Other then that though, if we return to the area, we would happily select this campground again. We camped at Ute Mountain Casino RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We came in late our first night and got put out in their "overflow" spot. Please just take one of their no hook-up spots instead of the one spot that is tucked up next to the building. The rest of the park, however, was very nice. The amenities worked great. The wifi was strong outside of peak times and the Verizon signal was usable as well. We fell in love with Moab and the peace and quiet of this park was very nice. The length of the site was probably the downfall of the park. We only have a 27ft camper but had to park the truck in sideways in order to fit. We would certainly return to this campground if we came through Moab again. We camped at OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables in a Travel Trailer.

We loved this park. It was a welcome sight to see lush green grass in this environment! The staff was welcoming and very friendly. The amenities all worked perfect. We would have stayed longer had we not already had our next stop booked. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Herrick Recreation Area, Clare, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The only thing that kept this park from a 10 is that there was no water hookup. We're fine without a sewer connection, but having to run our hose (had to buy a longer section of hose) to fill up the fresh tank every 2 days was a bit of a pain. Thankfully there was a spigot within 100 ft for the entire circle of sites to use. The park was empty for most of our stay, which was so nice to relax to. Our site was grass and pretty level. We were close to the playground and the surrounding woods and trails were a lot of fun with the kids. Staff was helpful the entire time and everything was cleaned very regularly and kept in good order. Access road was gravel and even though it had just been graded, it was very slow going on the way out. We camped at Herrick Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Tiki RV Park & Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This was one of our least favorite parks. Part of that wasn't so much the fault of management as the mosquitoes were unreal. It was the time of year for mosquitoes and the UP is well known for them. The site we had was a pull through but I was just barely able to level out in it. We were set right next to the road, so road noise was an issue. Utilities worked fine. WiFi was available throughout the park and our Verizon signal was pretty good too. Staff was pretty average. We didn't even notice anyone except for check in and check out. Restrooms were mostly clean, showers were small but could be swept for spiders a bit more often. We camped at Tiki RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kampvilla RV Park & Family Campground, Bear Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is our favorite park so far on our journeys. The site was level and shady. Roads were paved. The utilities worked great. Showers and restrooms were clean. The pool stairs were under repair, but they made sure to notify us during booking. The staff was always helpful and courteous. Wifi worked and the Verizon signal was decent. Our boys LOVED the playground, foosball, games, and everything else there was to do. Road noise from US31 was minimal thanks to the grassy berm built along the road. We camped at Kampvilla RV Park & Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails-Pine Country, Belvidere, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

The site was very level with plenty of room, utilities worked just fine, roads are gravel but in good shape, pool was nice and warm, showers were some of the nicest we've seen. The WiFi and the Verizon signal weren't great at the site, but WiFi worked great in the clubhouse and within 50-100 ft of the clubhouse. Everything was pretty clean and well cared for. Road noise from the tollway was noticeable but not a burden. We camped at Thousand Trails-Pine Country in a Travel Trailer.
