Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground, Fort Pierce, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

The campgound is located on Rt 70 between I-95 and the Florida turnpike.Very easy entry and departure. It is a very large RV park. After check in we were guided to out lot and assisted in parking the rig. The gate operation was explained very carefully to us as the gate will only admit one vehicle at a time. They are concerned that if you try to squeeze in under the same opening that the gate will come down on top of you. The sites have a concrete pad with a patio and picnic table, no fire pit. The water pressure is very high, you will need a pressure reducer. We only stayed one night, it was a very convenient stop off point. We camped at Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Springs State Park, Dunnellon, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

I can only add a few comments to previous reviews. The laundry room in the ranger station has four washers and dryers which are in excellent condition. Washers and dryers were $1.25 per load. Cell service, T-Mobile, is good and clear sky for satellite. Dunnellon is within a 20 minute drive from the park. We launched our kayak from the park and paddled up to the spring head in beautiful clear water. The current was about two knots, distance was about a mile or so. The Blue Run in Dunnellon is a great bike or walking path, all black top paving. This is a campground not to be missed for Florida visitors. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Swampy's has good food and beer. Leave your vehicle there if you can arrange a pickup back to the campground and then paddle down river. Swampy's has parking for kayakers in a separate lot.

Little Manatee River State Park, Wimauma, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Roads are paved and easy for big rigs. Sites are sand and dirt with good growth between sites. Our site was sunny with good satellite viewing. Electric was 20, 30 and 50 amps. T-mobile was weak but worked with booster. Kayaking was very good with a good launch site. The launch area is a good walk from the parking area. Hand carts are available to pull kayak down to launch area. Some of the hiking trails were sandy so were hard to walk. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Wekiwa Springs State Park, Apopka, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Site is tree covered but had a SW sky so was able to receive satellite signal. Sites are sand/dirt with FHU and level. All sites in 1-30 have FHU, the second loop have FHU on half of the sites. They are long enough for the rig and parking of towed vehicle. The approach road is paved and wide enough for big rigs. Good cell reception on the camp sites. The spring head looks like a large pool. A bulkhead surrounds the spring with lots of swimmers on the weekend. Refer to my tips for kayaking information. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

An outfitter provides pick up service for your return back to your vehicle. The outfitter is located at Kelly Landing, about 12 miles away. The kayak down the Wekiwa river to King's Landing is about 8 miles. However the river is clogged with debris from the hurricane.. The best part of kayaking is to paddle up river for a mile to Rock Springs. The water is clear all the way and just beautiful.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park, Okeechobee, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first visit to the park. My first thought after we left the black top roads to travel on the dirt road into the park was that we made a terrible mistake. The road surface was washboard, we had to slow to 5 MPH so as not to destroy the motor home. Any faster was unbearable. However once in the park, our outlook changed for the better. The park is wonderful, quiet and relaxing. There are lots of hiking trails and plenty of nature to view. It is wide open country. The prairie has plenty of wet lands, even in the dry winter months. I would suspect the summer months would be untenable with thunder storms and rain. Our site was grass in open sun, but most sites are tree covered. The sites in our loop had just 20 and 30 amp service. The bath house and showers were new and clean. Dump station was near by. While we were there the staff scraped the road to remove the wash board. We departed three days later and the washboard was returning. We slowed to 5 MPH and was now used to the speed. The distance at this speed was about two miles. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely return. We camped at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park in a Motorhome.

Sherwood Forest RV Resort, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We camped in Kissimmee to be near the repair shop. The camp ground is huge made up of seasonal guests in camping units and small cottages. Lots of activities are planned for the residents. The pool is okay. Our site had FHU's with just 20 and 30 amp service. The main breaker for the us and the adjacent sites repeatedly tripped. After a call to the office for the first trip, we then reset the breaker ourselves. The sites were open to full sun, ours was grass covered. The cost was rather expensive, I guess because of the proximity to Disney. We stayed for four days. We camped at Sherwood Forest RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Hillsborough River State Park, Thonotosassa, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Park is large with a circular drive throughout the park. A large pool is available during the summer season. The sites are tree covered. although our site #4, did provide satellite coverage. There was a space between the trees to reach the satellite. We had two bars for cell and internet reception. Good hiking trails are throughout the park, kayaking on the river is very good. The roads in the camping area are tight, trees close to the road offer some challenges. We camped for nine days and will definitely return. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Large gravel lot with good services. Site had 30 amp, pull through. We returned for a short stay later in the month and had 50 amp service in site 605. The weekly rate does not include electric service which is on a meter. Electric rate was very reasonable. Sites were open and sunny with good satellite and wireless service. Trailer Ranch RV Park (55+ Park), Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is very clean, check-in was easy. We were led to our site and assisted in backing in. At reservation we were warned about no late arrivals. We also were notified by e-mail about arriving before the office closed, at 1730. There is no over night parking if you do arrive late. A Walmart is not far from the park for possible parking but we never had to use it. The sites are gravel with a brick patio, no fire pit and no charcoal grills are permitted. Propane grills are allowed. Sites are very close. Good cell service; we were able to get satellite service. Heated pool is good. Cable TV is available. We stayed for five days. Morefield Campground (NPS), Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Check in at the store, site has FHUs in the Ute loop. Site is short but had room to park the tow vehicle. No cable, no WiFi, no cell service, however could pick up a cell signal half-way down the mountain towards the visitor center. There is a $20 entrance fee to reenter the park unless you have the Golden Age Pass. The laundry room is clean with plenty of machines located near the store. Site is open sunny so satellite TV is good. Deer walked through the campsite every morning. Lots of good hiking trails. We stayed for a week.
