Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We kangaroo camped for seven days, stayed at three sites. The first was 28 which was not level and open sun. Number 8 was level with some shade. Number 47 was the best, had open sun and complete privacy on the right side. All sites had plenty of gravel and a nice patio. Good black top roads to each loop. This campground is excellent with good cell service and good chance for satellite reception. Each bath house has one set of washer/dryer, new machines. Machines take quarters or credit card. The laundry floor was dirty, needed to be swept and washed. Other than the laundry room, the bath houses were clean. We camped at Lake Louisa State Park in a Motorhome.

Two loops are available, one on the lake side and the other on the ocean Both are very good. We were on the lake side, the approach roads are black top, the sites are gravel with a nice size patio. Camp sites are open sunny and level. Electrical pedestals are new. Cell service is good. We were very lucky to get a reservation. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, Keystone Heights, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Our first site was #73 but it contained a good bit of loose sand. I was concerned about getting stuck. Went back to the ranger station to see if something else was available. The ranger found two others that we could move into. The one we selected was grass covered but it contained a good amount of sand burrs. The surrounding sites were all mowed, this one wasn't. Wondered why not. Site was level, was good location for satellite reception. Some shade was provided. Campground has some good hiking trails. Other sites are nearby. Had to use booster to obtain T-mobile service. We camped at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Inland Harbor RV Park, Darien, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here three years ago when we first started in our travel trailer. It was nice to return. A new locked gate had been added. call on arrival and the gate will open. It offers a good secure feeling. Sites are black top with grass between. Campground is close to I-95 but no road noise. Good cell service. The owner is very strict about rugs on the grass, but you have grass instead of dirt. The camp ground is well maintained and clean. We camped at Inland Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Aiken State Park, Windsor, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

The check in office is only open for two hours a day. We proceeded to the camp ground, easy to find. Found our site easily and the camp host arrived to check us in. He was extremely helpful with plenty of information. The camp ground itself leaves a lot to be desired, sand everywhere, the road and the camp sites. Navigating the road is very tight between the trees. The pine trees are very dense with lots of pine needles all over. No T-mobile service, no satellite service. Electric service is 20-30. Water is from an artisan well, had a slight odor and taste. The river could be good for kayaking, canoes are available for rent. The down current was about 2 to 3 knots. Good hiking trails are throughout the park. We camped at Aiken State Park in a Motorhome.

After check in we were guided to the site. Sites have a good layer of gravel with a concrete patio. Sites are level with a table and fire pit. FHUs and satellite friendly. Cell service is excellent, the tower is within sight at the top of the hill. Sites are very close, parking is tight. Laundry is clean and machines in very good condition. Campground is near most of the sights in Asheville. We camped at Rutledge Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ramblin' Pines Campground, Woodbine, Maryland

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second visit here, arrived just after Florence. Site was level, very little mud. Had to bail out the water well to hook up, no different than before. We camped in the FR section, which is more open than the other sections. Still not good for getting satellite service, however the cable is very good. The laundry is very clean and the machines are excellent. We were visiting friends in the area, so jusst stayed two night. We camped at Ramblin' Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is mostly tree shaded however between several rows of sites is a large grass area. Since the sites are mostly dirt and very close, we moved our chairs to the grass area behind our site. When we first parked at our site, the gravel was washed away with large muddy areas around our unit. We asked if we could have more grave. They agreed and promptly arrived with several bucket loads from the front end loader. We appreciated the service. WiFi is available, cable TV is excellent, looked like a new installation. New owners of the park are doing a good job of improving the conditions. Our only complaint was the visiting friends charge, $5.00 per person. Thought that was a little on the high side. Pool is a nice size although we didn't use. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Melville Pond Campground, Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Campground has a nice appearance on entry, check in is easy. The roads are gravel and the sites are also gravel and dirt. The campground is tree shaded so satellite reception is not available for most sites. The cable is excellent. Our site, 107, was not the best, not level and mostly mud and dirt. Parking of the toad was very tight. Cell service is good. The campground is in a good location for visiting Newport, Portsmouth and Providence. We were there for just two days. We camped at Melville Pond Campground in a Motorhome.

Memorial Forest Park, Menahga, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Booking was on line, on arrival you self check in. No gate keeper, look for your site. The paperwork is stuck onto the pole marking the site number. If you arrive without a reservation, find any site without a reservation and move into the site. A couple of signs at the entrance would have been helpful showing the camping area. There is a map at the ranger station which did help after getting out of the rig to study it. Dirt roads surround the campground and the roads are easy to navigate. Some sites are tree covered and some open if satellite service is required. Our site had 20, 30 and 50 amp service and water, those without electric are marked. Picnic tables are new, each site has a fire pit. We never saw a ranger, but I did see a city pickup drive through once. I found the campground to be comfortable and would return if in the area. We stayed for two days. We camped at Memorial Forest Park in a Motorhome.

Jamestown Campground, Jamestown, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground, grass and trees. Some sites are open for satellite reception. Hiking paths and dog walks surround the campground. Yes it is true that they are fussy about where dogs can go but you can get around with your dog. I found the roads in the campground were easy to navigate. You are guided to your site by the owner on a bicycle. I liked that much better than the usual golf cart. We stayed for two nights. We camped at Jamestown Campground in a Motorhome.

North Park Campground, Dickinson, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was easy with the friendly staff. We were guided to our site which was a very long site, more than enough room for the toad. However the sites were very close. The campground uses a "head to foot" arrangement. The utilities are shared between the two sites. We each have our individual power box and water. It worked well between the two campers that were back to back, but you lose privacy on the ones that are door to door. In fact none of the five campers that stayed next to us ever came out their door. The roads were easy to navigate and were dirt and gravel. The roads were sprinkled with water several times a day to reduce dust. The laundry was clean with four pairs of machines. The sites were open sunny for good satellite service. Good cell service is available. This is a well run park, we stayed for a week. We camped at North Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Creekside Mountain RV Park, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small campground of about 15 units, very well maintained. No credit cards accepted, cash or check only. Sites have FHUs and are level. Good walking paths surround the park and a rails-to-trail hiking and bike path is adjacent to the park. WiFi is excellent. Since the park is next to 385, there is some road noise. We stayed for two weeks to have plenty of time to visit the attractions in the area. We camped at Creekside Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

All the attractions: Rushmore Memorial, Crazy Horse, Needles Highway and Hill City steam train are nearby. While at Mt Rushmore, try the TJ vanilla ice cream; made from Thomas Jefferson's own recipe. In the town of Custer is the Purple Palace with a variety of home made pies. Finally there are two brew pubs in Hill City worth a visit.

We stayed one night. It is easy off/on from I-90. Outside of the camper, road noise is noticeable. Inside it is quiet. Camp sites are close with gravel and sites are level. Good cell service and open sky for satellite service. Campground also has cable which we didn't use. Pool looked good. WiFi is also available. Campground has washers and dryers. FHUs and sewer. Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA), Newberry, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a family run campground, check in was friendly. Most sites are tree covered so no satellite reception, T-mobile is good. Sites are dirt and not level. When neighbor checked in we lost power on the 50 amp service. We shared the electric utility with the neighbor. He was forced to use the 30 amp service. The sites were head to foot. We did get prompt service on the box and had electric back. All sites had water service. Mosquitoes were out during the day. We stayed for three days and would return if in the area. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.
