Milton / Gulf Pines KOA, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA. We have stayed here many times as is very convenient to I-10 and good for over night stays but is not a destination park(long drive to beaches). Roads are asphalt but sites are level grass/rock with picnic table on a concrete pad. Sites are long pull thoughs and reasonable spacious. Most of park is open with no trees so were able to get satellite. Some of the permanent RV'ers sites were not very attractive. WiFi was OK. Exiting park to get back on I-10 is not very convenient. We camped at Milton / Gulf Pines KOA in a Motorhome.

Williston Crossings RV Resort, Williston, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicer RV parks we have visited. Immaculate grounds, many attractive landscaping features, large spacious lots, good wifi, asphalt roads, grass and trees throughout. Pull throughs are very long with level concrete pads with picnic table on concrete pad. In prior visits we stayed in 300 pull through section that was nice treed area but could not get satellite. This visit we wanted satellite so got a pull through in 200 section. The park has a lot of permanent residents but they are well maintained. There also many lots with attractive permanent "pre-fabricated" homes. Signage to the main gate is not very good but GPS address worked great. There is a back gate that is more convenient if going to/from Gainesville. Both gates are security gates. We camped at Williston Crossings RV Resort in a Motorhome.

French Quarter RV Resort, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $105.00
Overall Rating:

The reason to stay here given high price is convenience to French Quarter. You can walk but a bit far(and not recommended at night) so we drove the short distance each trip and found parking on streets or in lots by the river. Immediate area around park has homeless camp a few blocks away and graveyard next door but at least the slums have been torn down. Security is good in park - wall with spikes, security gate and guard at night. Inside the park is clean and lots reasonable size but no tables, trees or shrubs on regular sites. WiFi was good. Street and site paving is attractive. The elevated I-10 freeway next to park is very noisy outside but not noticeable inside RV. There is a small pool and clubhouse. We camped at French Quarter RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cajun Palms RV Resort, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Nice clean open RV park convenient to I-10. Roads are narrow concrete and pads are long level concrete with grass between sites. Security gate. Most sites are pull through 50 amp FHU with no trees. There is a pool with slides and mini golf on site. They used to escort you to your site but no more. A big negative for me is they want to charge you $5 per day for each devise for basic WiFi! I travel all over the country and no park has WiF charges except this one at any parks I have been to in years. We camped at Cajun Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Milton / Gulf Pines KOA, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here many times. Above average KOA with typical KOA amenities. Convenient to I-10, reasonably close to Milton(5 miles), to Pensacola(20 miles) and to beaches (15 -25 miles). Paved roads and long level spacious grass/gravel 50 amp FHU pull through sites. Some trees/palms but most sites can access satellite. Cable available. WiFi OK. Sites have picnic table on concrete pad. Premium sites available. Staff very friendly. Escort to site. Free continental breakfast. We camped at Milton / Gulf Pines KOA in a Motorhome.

Travelers Campground, Alachua, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here a few times. Good spot for an overnight stay but not a destination park. Convenient to Interstate. They have a weird set up for short term stays - rigs are parked in a row and if rig in front of you does not exit before you then you can exit by driving over grass to parallel road. Interior roads are paved. Site roads are gravel. Grass and picnic table by sites. They do not the credit cards. I had to mail deposit check a few months before arrival and paid in cash for balance at arrival. res are fairly open so I could get . access. We camped at Travelers Campground in a Motorhome.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this campground many times because it is convenient to Charleston, very beautiful and well maintained. The campground is well spaced out in almost a park like setting with tall trees, lots of grass and open spaces. Roads are paved and sites are level gravel pads with grass between sites. Sites are spacious. Most sites can not access satellite due to the trees but cable is decent. The pool is by the office and a long way from most sites. There is some road noise outside but not noticeable in our coach. They have an insane number of high speed bumps on the main road - about 20 to the back of the campground. It is very hazardous to access/exit the park off Hwy 17 if you are entering from the south or exiting to the north during most hours of the day. I asked for a site that could get satellite access when I made my reservation but assigned site could not get access. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Crooked Creek RV Park, West Union, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice camping on Lake Keowee with great views of the lake from most sites. The campground has a boat launch and docks, playground and pool so is well used in summer months. Many had their boats or jet ski's on the sites. Roads are wide and paved and sites gravel/grass. Getting there is somewhat off the beaten path. Sites are 50 amp FHU pull through and level with a picnic table. Not many trees so satellite access not a problem. There is a security gate but was not in service on our visit. Our site 97 was well longer than my 45 ft MH and tow. We camped at Crooked Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Greensboro KOA, Greensboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a typical KOA and a good location to stay overnight or for a few days. Most roads are new asphalt and rest gravel. The place is clean and well maintained. Staff guides you to your site. Sites are gravel with some grass, very close together and most have some trees. Each site has an old picnic table and fire ring. Wifi was good. No cable but we were able to get satellite. The long pull through sites are not very level. We were assigned one but with our 45 ft MH we could not get it level. We asked to be moved and the staff was great at finding us a smaller level pull through site. The park is convenient to I-40 and Greensboro. There is road noise from adjacent I-40 but we did not notice in our MH. We camped at Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park, College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

This is the best campground reasonably close to Washington DC. This is a large and busy campground with many amenities - pools, splash pad, playgrounds, cafe, TV lounge, game room, etc. Roads are paved, narrow and sites gravel with a little grass. Each site has picnic table and fire ring, some premium sites have 2nd metal table. Most sites are level back ins with a few pull throughs. Sites are very close together but many have some woods behind them. Fairly easy access to/from I-95/495. There is bus service from the campground to College Park Metro station but I preferred to drive the 4 miles. From the Metro station the ride to the Mall is 25 minutes. I liked that the staff gives you good instruction materials about getting to and around Washington at check in. I could get satellite from site 1307 but many sites could not. Sites are not that long but I could just fit my 45 ft MH with my jeep parked perpendicular on the side of the road. There is security gate and guard manned most of the time. Wifi was Ok most of the time but slow. We camped at Cherry Hill Park in a Motorhome.

Delaware Seashore State Park, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground if you want to camp close to the beach and still have 50 amp full hookups. Stayed in North campground which borders the Indian River Inlet and Coast Guard station. The beach is just a short walk from the sites and most sites have a beautiful view of the waterway. The campground has wide asphalt roads and pads with grass/gravel/sand around and a picnic table. Pads are level, just long enough for my 45 ft MH and easy to back in to and exit. I parked my tow on the grass. There are no trees, WiFi or cable. In the campground is a playground. Along the inlet waterway is a walking path and easy fishing access. We camped at Delaware Seashore State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a large marina 10 minute walk from the campground which has a restaurant, otherwise you can drive 5 miles north to Dewey Beach. A little further is Rehoboth Beach with many big box stores and restaurants.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

Probably one of the best KOA's I have every stayed in. The interior roads are paved, narrow but Ok and sites gravel in a deep woods environment. The sites are long fitting my 45 ft MH and jeep and exceptionally spacious with typically 10-20 feet of woods separating the sites allowing a unique camping experience and privacy rarely seen in a commercial RV park. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Our site 138 was a deluxe patio 50 amp FHU PT site hence the high cost but very nice and well worth it. It had a wide concrete patio, gas grill, sunken brick fire ring, new picnic table, heavy plastic table with 4 chairs and a two seat heavy plastic swing. Wifi Fi was good. No satellite access given trees. Cable was available but limited channels. We did not use but noted the campground has large pools, playground, bounce pad, rock climbing walls, volleyball and basket ball courts, horses, mini golf. Getting there is a little challenge on many small roads but they have several signs and GPS map location works well. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Limehurst Lake Campground, Williamstown, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed two nights to visit local attractions. Small pretty campground with sites over looking a lake. Sites are back-in, very spacious, open and attractive with grass and some trees. Interior roads are gravel and sites are grass. WiFi very good for email and internet. Security gate at front office then a very steep short hill to the sites. Cable available and open sites allow satellite access. No pool but beach swimming in lake. We camped at Limehurst Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Katahdin Shadows Campground, Medway, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed two nights in Site 41: 50 amp, FHU pull through to visit Baxter State Park. Interior roads are gravel, sites are gravel and grass between sites with picnic table and fire ring. Pull through site was just long enough for my 45 ft MH and jeep. Some trees but was open enough to get satellite. WiFi was spotty. Campground rules said would pick up trash but did not. Nice pool and activity hall. They sell hand dipped ice cream cones in office. We camped at Katahdin Shadows Campground in a Motorhome.
