Destin RV Beach Resort, Miramar Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $125.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very small but nice RV park located in Miramar Beach next to Destin. Price is very high but this is a resort area and park is located just 1 1/2 blocks from the beautiful beach. Park sites are all back-ins with level concrete pads and patio with concrete table/benches. Road through park is made of very attractive bricks. Sites are wider than most parks with nice well maintained privacy shrubbery, mulched area and palm/crape myrtle trees between the lots. There is some small grass area area in the front of each site. There is a security gate closed at night at the entrance but the damaged exit gate was open all the time. There is a small pool. We could get satellite access. Only issues were the wifi is very poor and sites are not very long so larger rigs have to park your tow vehicle perpendicular to RV and drive across the grass area. Also more generally be aware the traffic in/to the Fort Walton and Destin area is very heavy in summer so plan on a lot of extra time to get to this park (avoid Old Hyw 98) or traveling around area. Evidentially Florida allows beaches in front of condo/hotels to be private so public areas and access is very restricted and crowded. We camped at Destin RV Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Baton Rouge KOA, Denham Springs, Louisiana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stay in the pull through section at this campground regularly. Typical KOA - provide escort to site, well maintained, very clean, compacted gravel between sites (a few sites have grass), very nice pool/hot tub with large deck/tables chairs, outdoor pavillion, small playground, mini golf, poor wifi, picnic table on paver pad, narrow paved streets and narrow level concrete pads. They do not pick up trash like most KOA's. Most sites are crammed together. Mine had room barely wide enough for the picnic table. There are a few shade trees. My site was not long enough for my RV and tow so had to park the tow sideways. They provided traffic cones before I could disconnect. Many sites can access satellite but request this when making reservation if satellite is desired. Easy access to/from I-10 about 8 miles east of Baton Rouge. This is your best option of the not many good campground choices if you are visiting Baton Rouge. We camped at Baton Rouge KOA in a Motorhome.

Capital City RV Park, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Wow what a gem 8 miles off I-85 outside Montgomery, Alabama! Very pretty park with good wide gravel roads and pads. Each site is level, exceptionally spacious length and width with a privacy short hedge, real grass, a round table (no chairs!) on a concrete pad and a flowering crape myrtle tree. Many sites have nice tall shade trees; they do not interfere with satellite access. There is a pond with walking trail, large fenced dog run and playground but no pool. Only issue was reservation process is manual and archaic - they did not allow one night reservations until just a few weeks before arrival. Once made there is no conformation number or email which made me a little uncomfortable. They wanted me to call back the day of arrival to confirm which I did! Fortunately site was available when I arrived. We camped at Capital City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Crooked Creek RV Park, West Union, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Park sits on a hill over looking a nice lake. Roads are paved and pull through pads are gravel, long, level and spacious and with a picnic table. There are no trees. Our campsite was close to lake so view was terrific. Wifi was slow. Park has docks and boat ramp. We camped at Crooked Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tanglewood Park Campground, Clemmons, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very pretty county park near Winston-Salem. Roads and pads are paved and wide with a large picnic table. Campground is in a grove of trees providing shade but only a few sites can access satellite coverage (cable is available). Sites are mostly long enough to fit tow and very spacious. Campground is immaculate. In the county park is also many walking trails, pool, fenced pet area and much more activities. WiFi was ok but not great. Only major issue with the campground is that almost all the sites are on slopes, many very severe. I asked for a level site and still had the two front tires off the ground. Beware very few site are suitable for large rigs. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Washington DC / Capitol KOA, Millersville, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $88.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a week and really enjoyed our deluxe spacious pull through campsite with concrete patio, table/chairs, grill and shade. Park is in an area with many nearby Interstate and four lane highways with limited access making it complicated to get to/from but GPS worked fine. Located about 20-30 minutes to Annapolis and 40-60 minutes to Washington or Baltimore. Park has many trees for shade and many sites can access satellite (be sure to ask if you need this when making reservation). Did not use but park has pool, playground, dog park, large inflated jumping pillow, fee based shuttle service. Roads and pad are level gravel in pull through area. Space between sites are grass and decent width between rigs and many are spacious for KOA standards (this is more upscale KOA Holiday than your average KOA). Park was very clean. They charge $10 to reserve a specific site. We camped at Washington DC / Capitol KOA in a Motorhome.

Massey's Landing, Millsboro, Delaware

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $104.00
Overall Rating:

Nice large park especially for kids on Indian River Bay with sandy beach and nice pool. About 30-60 minute drive to ocean beaches. Large paved parking area to stage rigs while checking in. Security gate access to camping areas. Roads are wide asphalt allowing easy backing to sites. Sites have level gravel pads and adjacent gravel area to park tow. Sites are sand/grass but spacious with room for picnic table and fire ring. Most put down outdoor carpet/tarps. They pick up trash at your site. Deluxe sites have paved pads for RV and tow and also grill stand. There is no shade so no issue with satellite access. There are several snack grille restaurants in park. Many rent available golf carts. Only issues were price is very high and wifi set up/capability is poor and does not allow streaming video movies. We camped at Massey's Landing in a Motorhome.

Philadelphia / West Chester KOA, Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Don't come to this park if you have a big rig. This park is located on a hill and not big rig friendly. I have stayed here a few times and know that they have very few sites that are level. I asked for a level site that I could get satellite coverage. The site I was assigned was not level. To get level 3 of my tires were off the ground. The park is far out in the country not near any major highways so getting to park is challenging - involves driving many miles of narrow winding two lane narrow roads. Inside the park the gravel roads are narrow and many have steep slopes. Sites have narrow gravel pads, a picnic table and fire ring. There is grass between sites. Most sites are right next to each other and just long enough to barely fit a tow vehicle. Wifi is poor and they tell you not to stream video. Trash is picked up daily at site. There is a nice pool and playground equipment. They escort you to your site - in my case the escort took me on the wrong road so I had to back into site instead of pulling into site. There are a number of trees so many sites can not get satellite access. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

Americamps RV Resort, Ashland, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Good place to stay if visiting Richmond area. Convenient to I-95. Noise from I-95 noticeable outside RV but not inside. Park has wide mostly paved roads and long level spacious gravel pull through and back in pads. Gravel roads/pads had minimal dirt so very little dust when driving through. Grass areas between sides are spacious and bordered by railroad ties. There is a concrete pad for picnic table and a fire ring. The park has many mature trees for shade. We asked for and were assigned one of the few sites that could get satellite access. Cable is available. The pool was under renovation. They had a few inflatable slides for kids. They offer daily free waffle breakfast. There is a fitness center and an enclosed doggie park. Trash its packed up at your site daily. WiFi is very good - we could stream Netflix. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Good place to stay to visit Carowinds Amusement Park and reasonably close to Charlotte. Nothing special about the campground. There is a pool with life guard. Campground roads and pads are level, paved but very narrow. Sites have old picnic tables and some have beat up grills. Space between sites are reasonable but mostly dirt so most people put down outdoor carpets/tarps by table. Pads are not swept so lots of dirt on pads. Pull through sites are not long enough for most RVs requiring cars/truck to park on grass/dirt between sites. Sites are mostly shaded. Sewer connection near road so needed 3 lengths of hose to reach. We could not get satellite coverage on assigned site but asked to move to another where we could get satellite. Good wifi - was able to stream Netflix. We camped at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort in a Motorhome.

The Barnyard RV Park, Lexington, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Don't come here if you expect or need wifi - it is very poor/not useable most of the time. Otherwise park is good place to stay for visiting Columbia. Next to several large flea markets open on weekends. Fairly convenient to I-20/26 and 20-30 minutes to Columbia. Big rig pull through sites in Section A are very spacious and long. Roads are wide mostly paved and sites are gravel with grass between sites, concrete pad for picnic table. Sites have small trees that did not interfere with getting satellite. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Charleston KOA, Ladson, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in park for over a week while visiting family in Charleston. Typical old KOA - clean, well maintained, they pick up trash, level site, but very short, narrow sites and roads. Lots of trees and shade but not able to get satellite. Cable was good. Wifi was good during week and could stream Netflix. Most roads and many sites recently repaved with asphalt. Nice to have grass between most sites. Convenient to I-26, local shopping and short drive (20 minute if no accidents) to Charleston. Park is next to a run down mobil home park. Had to park jeep sideways to fit my 45 ft MH on site. Some deluxe sites available with swing, patio, grill, table/chairs, fire pit. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice attractive campground. Buildings, grounds and pool are very attractive and well maintained. Most sites are pull throughs long enough to fit my 45 ft MH and toad. Roads are paved and wide enough to maneuver around. Sites are level paved and easy to maneuver into with row of privacy shrubs on each side, grass and a picnic table. Sites are spacious and open with good satellite access. They pick up trash daily. A nice lake borders one side of campground with a dock and pavilion on the lake. The campground is convenient to I-95 and about 8 miles to Brunswick. The only reason I did not rate higher was the wifi was terrible. They even tell you streaming is not allowed as if you could even try. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Milton / Gulf Pines KOA, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA. We have stayed here many times as is very convenient to I-10 and good for over night stays but is not a destination park(long drive to beaches). Roads are asphalt but sites are level grass/rock with picnic table on a concrete pad. Sites are long pull thoughs and reasonable spacious. Most of park is open with no trees so were able to get satellite. Some of the permanent RV'ers sites were not very attractive. WiFi was OK. Exiting park to get back on I-10 is not very convenient. We camped at Milton / Gulf Pines KOA in a Motorhome.

Williston Crossings RV Resort, Williston, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicer RV parks we have visited. Immaculate grounds, many attractive landscaping features, large spacious lots, good wifi, asphalt roads, grass and trees throughout. Pull throughs are very long with level concrete pads with picnic table on concrete pad. In prior visits we stayed in 300 pull through section that was nice treed area but could not get satellite. This visit we wanted satellite so got a pull through in 200 section. The park has a lot of permanent residents but they are well maintained. There also many lots with attractive permanent "pre-fabricated" homes. Signage to the main gate is not very good but GPS address worked great. There is a back gate that is more convenient if going to/from Gainesville. Both gates are security gates. We camped at Williston Crossings RV Resort in a Motorhome.
