Twin Lakes RV Park, Cumming, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was on the end of the parking lot behind the office and dumpsters. Nothing to commend it other than that it was in shade until 1:00pm each day due to the big hill next to it.

Due to the heat and the full campground, the hookup voltage at the site was so low that the safety system in my RV kept killing the power. The owner came out and replaced the site's breaker, which helped a bit. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Jekyll Island CG can be great or it can be miserable, depending on the circumstances. We've stayed here a half-dozen times, usually with good results. This time, however, it was miserable. The mosquitos were horrendous. You could not leave your RV to walk or sit outside without being attacked every second that you were outside. If the nightly spraying was doing any good, we could not tell it. Once you got out of the campground, things seemed fine. Walking on the beach was very enjoyable. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Norman Motor Coach Resort, Sherrills Ford, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this park when we stayed here two years ago. This time, not so much. They are trying to sell the sites condo-style. The site next to us had been sold and anything-goes when that happens, apparently. The pricey lakeside view from our patio was mostly blocked by the stuff added to that site -- wooden gazebo with pull-down sides, storage shed, table with grill, fishing gear, etc. CG rules says RV plus one vehicle only per site. That site had RV, car, trailered boat, and a golf cart.

On the positive side, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We camped at Lake Norman Motor Coach Resort in a Motorhome.

Cape Hatteras KOA, Rodanthe, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. One complaint: they allowed the rig next door to setup a wire-fenced dog pen with three large dogs. When we asked to be put in a different site, they did so, but charged us $5 more per night. We camped at Cape Hatteras KOA in a Motorhome.

Teeter's Campground, Ocracoke, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

"Mosquito-infested swamp" is the description that first comes to mind. We arrived one day after a rain and most of the place was flooded. Stayed one night with little change in drainage. No sewer hookups were available. The sewer system consists of a network of above-ground pipes, all of which seem to run to the "permanent" residents. The power hookup was an outlet with no circuit breaker. The proprietor has a full-time job elsewhere, so it is extremely difficult to get him on the phone. We would not stay here again. We camped at Teeter's Campground in a Motorhome.

Beverly Beach RV Camptown RV Resort, Flagler Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a week. Roughly 40% of the oceanfront sites were occupied when we were here, so there was an empty site on either side of us, which gave good elbow room. Highlight of the week was watching the sunrise every morning over the ocean. Lowlight was the red tide which caused immediate coughing most of the day when outside. Red tide is unusual for this part of Florida, though. We would definitely come back, but would check the red tide conditions first. Staff was friendly and helpful. WiFi is included in the rate. We camped at Beverly Beach RV Camptown RV Resort in a Motorhome.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Pro: 1. Location. From here you can be either in Downtown Charleston or on Folly Beach in 10-15 minutes by car. 2. Appears to be a nice park overall. Well-maintained. 3. Good campground store. Con: 1. Only a dozen 50-amp hookup sites. They were full when we were there. If you want one of these, you probably have to reserve well in advance. We were in one of the 100 or so 30-amp sites, which is all we need. They were about 50% occupied the 4 nights we were there. 2. No WIFI, if you want a wireless Internet hookup. They did have a dial-out phone line in the rec room that you can connect your laptop modem to, if you want. We used this, but had to wait a couple of times for others to finish. 3. Sites are dirt floor. 4. No-see-ums. They kept me from sitting out under the awning in a lawn chair. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Very clean, well-maintained, relaxing park. We would definitely go back there. We were not impressed with the Hilton Head Island area, but the park itself was very nice. WiFi and TV cable were included in the price. We camped at Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

St Augustine Beach KOA, St Augustine Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2006 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, we were satisfied with this campground, but we believe that it is way over-priced for what you get. We found the staff to be friendly & helpful. Also, we did not feel crowded on our site, as some reviews have stated. The large majority of the sites are newly-paved pull-through sites, but those along the eastern edge are dirt back-in. Be sure to call them to confirm your size and pull-through requirements, because the folks checking in before us had trouble with their reservation made months before on the Internet. We camped at St Augustine Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2006 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This would probably be a great place for Northeners to winter in, but we weren't taken with it in the 4 nights we spent there. The two restaurants weren't too fresh/clean. There were carpenter ants and fire ants all around our pad and a wasp nest in the electric connection box. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.
